-Mývatn lake, a scenic area with plenty of sights around
-Skútustađagígar, an area south of Mývatn lake with plenty of pseudo craters
-Dimmuborgir, a lava field near Mývatn lake with towering frozen lava rocks
-Grjótagjá, a hot pool in a cave with crystal blue water
-Hverir, an area near Mývatn with plenty of boiling mud pools and geothermal vents
-Víti crater lake, a mountain crater lake with bright greenish water color
-Mývatn nature bath, a man-made hot spring pool with naturally blue water
-Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, simply impressive
-Selfoss, another large waterfalls not far upstream of Dettifoss
-Hljóðaklettar, an area full of hexagonal basalt columns

    Can you only get access to north Iceland in the summer months?

    You can also access it during the winter, but beware of the notoriously unpredictable weather. The main roads (like the ring road, or roads around larger settlements) should still be accessible in reasonable weather, but I'd probably stay away from the smaller dirt roads since they are likely to be covered in snow...😬
