North Iceland - 4K Visual Escape

North Iceland is home to many natural wonders spread around a vast and sparsely populated area.
This part of Iceland is not as visited by tourists as the south part of the country.
Volcanoes, bubbling mud pools, waterfalls, canyons, beautiful villages and geothermal springs all await in North Iceland.
In this video we would like to share with you some of the most significant attractions of north Iceland:
00:51 - Reykjafoss Waterfall
Reykjafoss waterfall is one of Iceland's hidden treasures located on the river Huseyjarkvisl not far from the Ring Road.
01:30 - Akureyri
Akureyri is Iceland's fourth largest municipality and the largest town in the north.
It is nicknamed the Capital of North Iceland and it is an important port and fishing centre.
01:57 - Hvitserkur
Hvitserkur is a spectacular rock with two holes at the base, which give it the appearance of a dragon or dinosaur drinking water from the ocean.
Many birds, mostly fulmars and gulls, live on Hvitserkur. It seems to be alive especially around the summertime.
02:45 - Godafoss Waterfall
Godafoss is very conveniently situated right next to the Ring Road making it one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland.
While it drops only 40 feet (12 meters), it is 100 feet (30 metres) wide with high water volume and makes an impressive sight.
Godafoss means "The Waterfall of the Gods" in icelandic.
03:45 - Hverir Geothermal Area
Hverir is a geothermal area with boiling mudpools and steaming fumaroles near Lake Myvatn.
It is one of the largest geothermal fields in Iceland and very easy to access, as it is located right next to the Ring Road.
Steam vents, geothermal pools and the smell of sulfur, Hverir is a spectacular place to visit.
04:44 - Dettifoss Waterfall
Dettifoss is located in Northern Iceland around a 30 minute drive from the Ring Road and it is the most powerful waterfall in Europe.
The water drops 150 feet (46m) and it sends almost 200 cubic meters of water down every second. This amount of water results in a lot of spray.
05:43 - Rjúkandi Waterfall
Rjúkandi is part of a stunning landscape at Jökuldalur valley in the Eastern Region of North Iceland.
It is one of only a few waterfalls that you can see directly from the Ring Road. Rjúkandi is a beautiful waterfall and definitively a place to stop by.
06:35 - Studlagil Canyon
Studlagil Canyon is located in the valley Jökuldalur ( meaning Glacier Valley ) in Austurland. It has one of the most significant and most beautiful basalt columns formations in Iceland.
