Finally vid showing snake shot damage from 22

Well, I don't feel like I'm the worst shot in the world anymore.

With kids and pets around you did the right thing. Visiting my brother in Florida I had to watch my step on his back property as so far found three big eastern Diamondbacks. I finally talked him into his first gun.

Me and a buddy are going on a hike in rattlesnake territory, thanks for showing this stuff works

Copperheads will take over all around the farmhouse and even move inside. Once they take over an old farmhouse, forget it. Even the baby copperheads are deadly. One of our friends got bit on her finger and almost died that night. We had them by the dozens and dozens all over our farm. We had no choice but to kill them, the children come first. Our farm being rocky and mountainous, no way could we keep ahead of them. The revolver killed over 2 dozen one summer just in one place by the creek where the kids wanted to play, but could not. We loved the farm but not the copperheads.

Ran across a rattler when i lived in texas. Right outside my door and about 4 feet from where my puppy was playing. Grabbed the pup went insideand got the 12 gauge. Quick and efficient. Took the head clean off.😮

Yes they do! Its absolutely amazing how well they blend in with leaf litter. In fact I have an AR-15 (& a 22 rifle for Squirrels) that I painted up like that in Duracoat with an air brush and I have to be careful if I lay it down in the late fall or winter...I might not be able to find it again!

The farm where I grew up was infested with rattlesnakes and copperheads. We used a garden hoe on them. Either that or a corn knife

I'd use my ruger wrangler with a 29 grain cci short. If you can't hit that from a yard away then you gotta work on ur aim lol

Remember, the head / jaw can bite for hours after the snake was dispatched

Should have unloaded a 12ga birdshot on him. It looked like it was still trying to get at you even after that second shot

Ive got almost exact same heritage and also have cci snake shot in it, i actually like how the 22 snake shot shoots out of my single shot derringer alot better but Heritage sure is a fun gun to plink with

I appreciate your comment. I always have the rough rider with me in the woods, or pretty much anywhere I go. It’s cheap, well made for the price and hasn’t let me down yet after close to 1k rounds. It was definitely adequate for the job with the snake shot. It took me a couple of shots, mostly due to the fact that I never shoot that gun at point blank range. I’ve heard a lot about your bullets and the eras gone molds. I have to get my hands on one at some point!

I have mine loaded up with rat shot also for rattlers or moccasins if need be. I would have to change out to Remington sub sonic CBees for armadillos though. Sounds like a cap gun. Can't hear the shot outside of ten feet. I really like those CBees. They do the job with little noise. I used to use the .410 single shot or 20 gauge double for snakes but the revolver is easier although the rat shot has less effective range than birdshot. I also used to use my Winchester 190 for armadillos but again the revolver is easier. Since you had the shovel you could have just lopped its head off with that. Thanks for sharing.

@@Majormusket Haha. My dad was a fruit buyer for Tropicana and would have to drive through the orange groves in the company car. There are plenty of rattlers in orange groves and at first he used to use a shovel for rattlers that he kept in the trunk of the car. That was until my mom got him a single shot .410 he kept in the trunk. He still kept the shovel because he needed it to dig the car out if he got stuck.

That’s really cool. The .410 has numerous uses in a compact design, plenty of power and you can carry plenty of rounds lightly. I wouldn’t mind a single shot .410.

@@Majormusket This one is a FIE Corp. made in Brazil and imported by EAA. Full choke with a three inch chamber. I don't think they make it anymore but there are other .410 singles on the market.

Only snake I won’t shoot is a king snake any other kind venomous or not gets (shot,beat with a stick,hit with a shovel, or smacked with a big rock)😂

It sucks to have to shoot animals but it is what it is. People say you're on their land but you have every right to be there and you have the deed so unless a snake pulls out a deed it's your land not theirs

The Government owns all land. Had a neighbor who did his best not to pay the taxes. Ended up costing him more money in late fees and penalties. Otherwise, they were going to take it.

While brush hogging I come across eastern diamondback rattlers all the time if they stay in the field fine but if they get near the house or the Barn, I have no choice.

I think you are crazy to leave this reptile alone or even considering placing him in the wild, when you have a 5 year old son who loves to play in the yard. You need to get a dog or a cat for your son.

Everyone who has a rough rider likes them. I have heard of some of them having issues out of the box but Ive heard that about every model from any manufacturer. I have two myself, they shoot fine. Hickock45 reviewed them a few times on his channel and havent had an issue. I think there are more people out there with a bias against taurus then there are taurus malfunctions lol.
