I am almost 79 years old and recently bought my first revolver. I was going buy several years ago but one of my renters talked be into semi autos. My first revolver, a Heritage Rough Rider with a 4.75" barrel and I love it. The grips came pre-scuffed, so now I wish I would have bought the other one the gun shop had with the wooden grips, I can always re-do wooden grips. I bought my Heritage on sale in Columbus,Ohio and got a GREAT deal on it, so great that I've already ordered the /22WMR cylinder. I am making a switch from all semi autos to all revolvers and my Heritage is just the first. I am also planning on a Taurus 856 to replace my Ruger lc9s and maybe a Taurus 942 after that. The Heritage is replacing my S&W .22 compact. You may ask why am I changing from semi autos to all revlovers, ARTHIRITIS AND GOUT in my hands which made it nearly impossible to load a magazine. I have no trouble loading a revolver. I would LOVE to see Heritage come out with a 38 Special single action revolver that looks just like the .22 Rough Rider. I don't think you would have to go any larger than a 38 Special. Taurus already has plenty of options when it comes to larger calibers clear to the Judge. If Heritage would come out with a 38 Special Rough Rider Taurus already has 38 Special cylinders and barrels, so it would be a very easy thing to do, I know I would want one.

Rough Rider and Barkeep owner here. Love them - from the quality, to the customizations, the authenticity, performance, and really important to me, is the friendliness of the platform for new shooters, along with seasoned shooters. Don't mean to sound cornball, but this is really how I feel. I've got grandkids and I like these more than my other guns for their intro to shooting.

The first modification I did to mine was remove that safety. Not needed with a half cock function. The second mod was to fix a nub on the hammer, preventing a solid striking surface and causing impact marks on the receiver. And the third mod was to increase tension on the hammer spring to fix light primer strikes. For $150, I'm not complaining too much, but for a gun that misfired 2/3 shots and a $60 shipping fee, it simply was not worth sending back to the company and the mods were easy enough to do with a dremel, a shim and a screwdriver.

I have the Heritage Rough Rider in "6.5 and "4.75 and they're both amazing. I bought the "6.5 first, fired 3 shots and the cylinder cracked. Heritage had it resolved within the week. I then bought a 22 mag cylinder and a "4.75 and they both run perfectly. I'm so happy with Rough Rider and now I'm even more impressed with Heritage knowing they have Taurus behind the name.

@@witorsouza9399 yea, they aren't great, but for the price, they can't be beat. My revolver has 2000 rounds through it, and the only major issue is the cylinder spring broke. Parts are cheap. And easy to get from their website. The accuracy is alright, it's no tack driver, but it does group well, just need to use some hold over if you want to be real precise. It's more of a plinking gun. Good luck. Have fun.

I had to do some "precision machining" on mine pretty much right out of the box. The frame was milled so poorly it had a sharp edge around the center the long way. It had massive hang-up problems, couldn't cock it without considerable force, especially after warming it up a bit. But after the adjustment I can truthfully say I love it, runs fine, really fun to shoot.

If it keeps misfiring modify the hammer by taking a small file and on the 3rd or last spur on the hammer file that down like a meter or so then take a small round file file a small but noticeable curve on that 3rd or last bottom spur and that should take care of the misfire issue this mod will allow the trigger to get a better grip and will also increase accuracy but also completely stop the misfire and will also give you a heavier trigger pull. Try it I did it to mine and I don't have no issues at all with it

I like how they say nothing needed to be changed on the gun. The shell extractor is cheap plastic and could be cnced out of aluminum. The locking bar is mighty cheap and could be made as a full bar instead of two tabs of 1/8 in steal. If we had this solid bar design it would open up race gun mods, which they could make and market themselves

Put 100 through my new RR bought 24hr ago. Slick video, here is some real world data: 1. Cylinder constantly locks, either lr or wmr. It seems the slight deformation of a spent round will catch in the cynlinder frame. Also some misfires with no strike mark at all- can be reloaded and fired. Cylinders spin new rounds fine but fired casings cant spin through the frame. I mean its called a 'revolver', should any of this really be a problem? 2. Also the ejector assembly fell off the gun mid session, kind of sad , hilarious (found the screw in my casings). 3. Lots of blow back of metal shards or something, makes me nervous using it. Any solutions? Was thinking of a new 9mm you make with optics but this makes me wonder what you are doing over there.

If I wanted a transfer bar, I'd buy a Ruger. instead. I'd rather have the hammer-block safety of the Rough Rider, because it doesn't nanny me or f*** up trigger pull full-time like a transfer bar does. I like the Rough Rider for its Colt-likeness. You can't have that and a transfer bar at the same time, as Ruger has proved.

Had to replace the cylinder hand spring on it after shooting around 1000 rounds. Not sure how many were put through it before I bought it. Pretty fun gun. However, if I was going to buy a new .22 SA revolver, I would probably go with the Ruger Wrangler.

deciding between the two I went with the Wrangler. Not sure that was a good choice. Accuracy with the Wrangler is terrible. Tight groups with a Single Six but all over the paper with the Wrangler. Trigger pull is hard and tight, and when the trigger breaks it moves the gun off target. Not to be fixed as the spring is used for the trigger and the firing pin. Soften the trigger and you soften the firing pin which could lead to the primers not igniting

Only complaint I have is the bluing wears off the body fast and the aluminum body is very susceptible to scratching and marking. Otherwise, great piece.

I have asked this question for years but never received an answer. How is the slot to hold hand which turns the cylinder by the action of the hammer cut? The frame prevents a milling machine getting in from the top so the only access appears to be from the bottom. The slot is curved at the top to push the hand against the cylinder ratchet. Does anyone know?

I've been a happy Taurus customer for over thirty years. I have a G2c 8 shot semi auto that helps me protect my life and home everyday. Great concealed carry firearm. Good to see the Heritage brand in such great hands. I look forward to getting a Heritage with both cylinders very soon. Keep up the great work, people.

I bought a Barkeep model about 7 weeks ago. The problems with it have progressively gorwn worse. Flat out jam ups. Was working better with the mangum cylinder I purchased extra BUT now the hammer isn't clicking in consistently including one time the pistol actually fired the next round. This is a slow and deliberate gun. I shouldn't have to try 3 times to get the hammer to work. Calling Heritage on Jun 21st, 2021 and get an RMA to send it back. Hopefully, they will decide to just quickly replace the entire pistol instead of just trying to 'fix it".

That's weird mine works everytime I shoot it. Only had one problem was a bullet and it was a bullet problem not the gun.

They're pot metal plinkers. And they are fine at that. Put several 500rd bricks through one. Accurate and mostly dependable. Wouldn't call it an investment or heirloom. For the money it's a fun gun.

Interesting that it took them soo long to “listen to their customers”. For a while there the QC was really taking a hit. Would like to see them soup up the PT 92, in competition style model.

I love heritage revolvers, but I can definitely say their quality seems to have gone down over the years, I got a 6inch rough rider back in 2012 made in Miami FL, and it was amazing, great quality, then I got a 16inch rough rider, made in Bainbridge GA in 2019 and the build quality was definitely lower and the action was nowhere near as smooth

Brazil and US have a special relationship in regards to gun ownership. If only Mexico can get its act together, we would be the three countries that speak English, Spanish and Portuguese and the most powerful in all of North and South America if we decide to work together in regards of promoting firearms ownership. Also, US and Brazil have the best quality of meat besides Japan. #CattleBros #respecttaurus
