    You actually can convert the 6 shot Heritage revolvers to the 9 shot. Look up this guy's video. The Walk With Al Heritage doesn't actually sell the part(s) you need on their site. He called them directly and they ended up sending him what he needed to convert from 6 to 9 cylinder.

    No Heritage will not sell you any of the needed 9 shot parts unless you can prove you own a 9 shot revolver and it needs the replacement parts you are asking for. Heritage put a stop to the conversions.

    With the new hammer design, all you need is the 9-shot hand/spring. The hammer has two different holes to insert the hand. One for 6-shot and one for 9-shot. However they stopped selling the 9-shot hand unless you prove you have a 9-shot revolver :) Lawyers.......

    You can. Once guy called them & they sold him the spring & cylinder & the timing actually lines up. They used to sell it on the website but stopped once it was discovered that you can do this.

    Pretty simple why the 9 shot cylinder will not work in the 6 shot frame. The 6 shot rotates 60°~ between each shot and the 9 shot rotates 40°~ for each shot. The cylinder rotating hand is different as is the hammer and locking mechanism thus allowing for the timing and cylinder alignment.

    Picked up mine today, 12/3/21, 9-shot, too. I already have a 6-shot Rough Rider (it came with a 6-shot Mag cylinder), but it didn't take long to shot 'em up. Both shoot good. No .22 mag cylinder came with my new 9-shot RR, so I just ordered one from Heritage. My new RR gun set me back 169.99, but I didn't feel it because I used a gift certificate my wife had bought me. Great for plunking.

    Very thorough info, thx! Currently have the 9-shot version, but as mentioned, loading and ejection seems to be a bit more 'fiddly' on this model, so would also love to find out whether it can be 'retro-fitted' to use the 6-shot cylinder. Have tried contacting the factory, but no luck yet, apparently due to Covid.

    I haven't seen the 9 shot cylinder, but that would be a great improvement for the platform. It's a shame the cylinders aren't compatible with the 6 shots, but it makes sense.

    Compatibility with the cylinders was what I was looking for. Thanks you've answered my question. Now since it seems to be the same frame, Changing the hand and hammer and the foot, may take care of the problem. You may also have to fine tune the timing when you change those parts and some parts may not have the meat on them to accomplish that.

    I have good news for you. Heritage has changed to a different alloy so those Saturday Night Special laws do not apply to them anymore. I'm no lawyer and I am not familiar with Minnesota's laws about this, but it is likely legal there now if their law about this matched the ones in other states like Illinois. You should look into it.

    People: Different website: Walk with Al shows how to change a fairly new 6 shot heritage to the 9 shot version. By replacing the hand and trigger spring and buying a 9 shot cylinder. Now your hammer may need to be drilled for a new hole for the hand to mount but any person with access to a drill press can do this.

    because of the timing a 9 shot cyl in a 6 shot would have to be a third larger than the 6 shot cyl

  • @DavesLifeHome

    @DavesLifeHome

    3 жыл бұрын

    The cylinder is the same diameter. The timing is due to the placement of the round to the turn required to put that round inline with the hammer and the barrel properly. Because there are more rounds placed closer together, the cylinder doesn't have to turn as far to line them up. This is (from what I am being told) is the issue.
