Here are the weirdest bicycles I own
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I've always had a fleet of freak bikes, but over the years it has changed a bit. Today I'll give you an updated overview of my weirdest bikes as they stand in 2023!
Some of you may be wondering about the Fat Ripper. Someday that may end up back here, but right now it's with my mom in Florida, who rides it around the neighborhood. I would probably get injured if it were here.

I need a tour of every trail on Berm Peak. It's kinda confusing. Thanks Seth.

I miss that unicycle series. It shows how far you have come. I remember u replying to my comment when I was in 7th grade and I was so stoked. Still here and still love your content Seth!
Wonder how difficult it would be to add a brace at the top of the pivot point on the swing bike to support it so it doesn't bend. Sure you can just bend it back but with metal fatigue over time I imagine it'd break eventually. Either way, great collection!
@dustinbrueggemann1875

Probably pretty easy actually. You'd just need some solid round stock matching the inner diameter of that tube and then a plate that drops around the seat tube that you could bolt through.

I was caught really off guard when Seth said "I'm 5'4 by the way" I was thinking there was no way I could ride something like that tall bike just because of the fact I'm short alone it's nice to relate and just to know that you're not alone every once in a while if you ever feel bad about being short, just know that you remind short people that other short people exist
It would be cool to get a larger bar set onto the half bike to see if that improves it's compliance and turning (at least by feel). It isn't really a good "bike" so to speak, but it would be fun to try.
You make some of the BEST mountain bike videos on KZread Seth...been following this channel for years. You and a couple of your KZread friends got me back into cycling just because of your entertaining videos. And it was great seeing your fleet of FREAK BIKES again (my favorite all time of course is the SWING BIKE.)
Hi from the UK 👋 Seth im not sure if your aware of the smaller seatpost diameter posts that trans x do. Along with a shim from 27.2mm this could answer all your prays regarding a dropper on the Kent travail. Happy biking.
Awesome set of weird stuff you have there! There are only two things you're missing now, and those are a velocino and a recumbent bike, ideally a center steering FWD python or flevobike.

I am the designer of the swing bike in this video. I still have all of the original artwork.
I loved the first freak bike video watched it over along with most of your other older content multiple times. Thanks for bring it back, Love ya Seth!
There are shims available for 27.2mm seatposts to fit the weird 30.4mm diameter of the Kent Trouvaille (e.g. from Cane Creek). And while the selection of 27.2mm dropper posts is quite low, there are some to choose from (OneUp, PWM, KindShock, etc). The other route would be to ream the seat tube to fit a 30.9mm seatpost. I myself wouldn't do so due to safety concerns, but one KZreadr actually did this.
Seth when are we getting some more 10 bike products😢 (WE NEED TO GET THIS TO THE TOP SO HE WILL SEE THIS)
I wanna see a vid on the hub with internal gears. ive heard you can get some with internal hub brakes too. would be interesting to see that in teh channel, idk maybe making an ultra minimalist but fully fitted, maybe sleeper bike?

I've got 2 old Raleigh bikes with Sturmey-Archer here in the UK. One is a 1980 3 speed on my Raleigh Twenty "shopper", and the other is a rare 4 speed on my 1950 Raleigh. Very interesting system. The 1950 one also has a dynamo in the front hub that powers a front and rear light
@samfeldman1508

Brompton folding bikes use that hub set up.
Seth, you really need to extend out the rear triangle on that tall bike. A longer wheelbase will solve all its problems and actually make it a capable machine, also better cargo capacity.
@JulianKent

Also, it has space for another 2 bottle cages in the middle triangle.

You should build a tandem! Tandem bike on the bottom and a normal frame on top. Will give you needed wheelbase and extra seat to geek around with friends
So pleased to see the update to your freakbike collection. I don’t have a freakbike collection yet…but it’s something I’m working on. I’d love to buy a modern Penny farthing and I want to make my own interpretation of the half bike - using a mini rocker BMX and stunt scooter handlebars.
Thanks Seth! Your videos are the best! Currently binge watching…lol

Gosh this channel really rekindles my love for biking. I injured my IT band a few years ago so I had to stop. But I've been getting better every day thanks to my doctors. I've been thinking about starting to ride again.
So happy to see how the collection has grown. I remember when the half joined the fleet and now there are so many mkre
They are all special in their own way but that slingshot is a collectors bike for sure. If you ever get tired of having it you should do a raffle or something that would be cool to have that one. It is really a neat bike. Just shows the capabilities of the human mind to engineer things that are just crazy all of these bikes are a testament to the power of the mind! Is there a bike made with like ski's on it for snow? That I could really use this winter! It has been extra snowy!
I own a Kent Trouvaille and ride it 15 miles every morning. LOVE that bike! Only changes I made (so far) were some Maxxis tires (Ardent in the front + Hookworm in the back for the mixed terrain I do), oval chainring, SRAM chain, and grips. Thing rides like a dream. :)
Awesome Seth I started MTB two years ago on a Walmart Shwinn 27.5 but soon upgraded to specialized rock hopper and have enjoyed every mile on it . Keep up the great content and thank you for doing so I really do enjoy and learn from them .

I had an older neighbor kid that lived a couple doors down for me when I was a kid that had a swing bike. I wanted one so bad. I think I'll keep my ear to the ground and pick one up someday. They are super cool! Love your unique videos Seth!
You NEED to try a ski bike, ive been riding one for this last winter and it's so fun
Very unique and suprizingly functional collection you've got there. I really like the Slingshot. It's cool and unique looking yet seems the most all around functional one of all.
Love the uni. The more you ride it the better you’ll get. Free mounting was super hard to learn for me but once you get the feel for it you’ll progress a bunch.
These are my favorite bike check videos. I'd love to give all of them a shot, and honestly since I also ride a small, and I'm the same height as you, I know when a bike fits you it should fit me too.
That was a lot of fun checking out the bikes. Hope ya obtain some more quirky bikes
Tour of all the trails, Seth!!!!
The first time I saw the setting bike 3 years ago, I needed! Have been checking online monthly since then and have never seen it in stock. 😢
Cool. Thanks for sharing this with us
I've been waiting for this video ever since Seth released the first weir bike video years ago. Love it!
Awesome freak bike collection you have there. That swing bike looks like so much fun and I'm sure it turns heads going down the street. Thank you for showing the freak bike collection as I totally enjoyed the vid 😎👍

I am the designer of the swing bike in this video.
I was able to get a 30.9 internal dropper on my Trouvaille. I reamed the seat tube from 30.4 to 30.9 and drilled an access hole in the bottom of the seat tube that is near the BB to get the cable in the seat tube. It works great. No noticable difference with the .25mm missing from the wall thickness of seat tube. My thoughts were... if I am already drilling and grinding the frame, why not add reaming too. 😂
I can help with the dropper post issue on Walmart bike. My main rig has odd 29.8mm seat post, only option was to go for KS eTen 27.2mm 120mm dropper and use shims for extra stability I've added modified shims at the bottom of a dropper that are held with tape below and above. Been using this setup since 2021 with no issues. Can't get what you love, love what you have😊
I seem to have missed the half bike episode. Will be looking for that after watching this!
I love the swingbike. It reminds me of the rear-wheel-steering of monster-trucks, old Nissan GT-Rs, the new electric Hummer, and I think the JDM Mitsubishi 3000GT also has that feature. It's so great to see that on any bike. The handling is amazing.
Almost 1M subs Definitely deserved. Good job Seth!
Seth, I’ve just watched your weird bikes video, it reminded me of a friend’s bike, it’s one of those bikes that steers the wrong way (move the handle bars to the right the front wheel moves to the left) it would be great to see you try one, especially if you want a challenge!
I’m always super excited when Sith loads up a new video!!

Hey Seth, I was able to put on a dropper seat post on a bike with a weird seat post ID by using a seat post adapter. Pretty much every size you can think is available and I used a 27.2mm dropped and a 27.2mm - 30mm adapter. Hope this helps with the Kent!!

I just recommended the same. Yep.
Nice collection Seth. I have a penny farthing, 90s MTB, eBike commuter and 'normal' Trek road bike, all have been featured on my channel at some time or other.
Go for a cranckbrothers highline/xc 125mm dropper, also got it on my 27.2mm seatube downcontry hardtail
Hey you should get gmbn over to try the trails That would be a great video. Also love your stuff Seth
Remember those Florida videos like it was yesterday Would be cool to see an awd bike on the trails lol
I got a ricey mtb i call it The Diamond in The Cave because it is based on black with some blue decals, its rims are blue and its a 26" Hardtail mtb
I used to go with my buddy to English town nj every year for this huge swap meet at a drag strip or something and they all rode around on crazy custom bikes like these. The best was a guy who had a super looooong front fork and a lil tiny tire and the old school long banana seat it looked sick
part of me wonders if it would be possible to reinforce the pivot on a swing bike with some connection at the top. my assumption is that someone's already thought that through and decided it either doesn't work or isn't worth the time/money/effort, but I still wonder.
Should weld a tab on the swing bike going from the seat tube to the top of the swing pivot making it a double shear point. Single shear on a king pin style bolt like that will always bend for sure.
2:20, haha i love how Seth just casually sprinkles in footage of him eating total crap sometimes. Keep the rubber side down dude! haha
Seth, next time you go up to New England, you should do a collab with Skills with Phil and go to Killington Bike park. I think it would be a banger. Love the vid btw
I would love to see a Tall Bike bikepacking trip. I'm picturing it with 2 or even 3 full frame bags 😂 - you could even custom make them yourself!
God that hit at 2:20 looked rough. Great video, thanks.
FWIW: I learned to ride unicycles sometime from 1988 to 1995 while living in South Florida, when I was 27 to 35 years old. I tried to ride one of my unis a year or two back, only to discover I did not have 27 to 35 year old KNEES any longer...😊
Seth needs a chromed out low rider bike like I saw around in the 90s. Buy or build it would be a cool video
Hello, I've been watching you for a while and you are one of my favorite KZreadrs. Your videos are entertaining and informative. (Mostly😂) have a good day
Hey Seth great vid as always & congratulations! Wanted to ask you: What's the deal with BMX handle bars on MTB? Why do people do it? is it more comfortable? Kids doing tricks do it to. Saw a video of the Ruff Riders paying respects to DMX and there were a lot of kids with MTB's with BMX handlebars. I think it looks pretty of cool, but I wonder how it changes the ride feel and do you think that by changing the handle bar like that makes the bike more of a cruiser bike than a MTB?
If it helps at all, you're riding a bit high for muni. On pavement most people like to have it the seat up but the second you hit a bump it'll buck you. As a fellow short unicyclist i'd recommend getting a kris holm fusion-one saddle/post since you can get it a bit lower than the one you currently have. Also, if you can post on your arm to distribute weight instead of just sitting, it'll help compensate for bumps too. it's not immediately intuitive, but it's a must for riding trails.
You should add a support to the top part of the swing bikes pivot that would fix the bending issue!
Awesome collection. Have you ever thought about making a long bike? Kids in my neighborhood had one with a super long chain stay and they would do drifting with it
Awesome video Seth !
I have a Swing King also and it’s a blast. Also really quality feel to its build, for the price. I kindof want to get dual AliExpress knockoff Chris King headsets for it, because who has dual Chris King headsets…
There's at least one guy who has ridden a "mountain" unicycle to the top of White Mt in California, a 14,000+ foot peak. Can't even imagine it. Maybe Seth could come out west and try it?
I *still* haven't seen the DB Fat Bike review. Yes, you did the Dolo, but I'd love to see a quick vid on the DB Fatbike...maybe in the snow? Pretty please?
Man these bikes are amazing! There are some interesting ideas here!
You should do a ranking of all of the bikes you've featured today.
I remember the ORIGINAL late 60's Swing Bike, pitched by Jimmy Osmund. It was a Sting-Ray style bike, with springs under the top tube to give stability around center, and a lock-out so it could ride like a normal bike. It also lacked the cantilever pivot tube that always bends on your model. Like the makers first build, it's basically two, fully supported, head tubes with the rear "fork" being the whole drive train. Looking at the new "Swing King", it makes me think they were scared to just let the pivot be the seat tube. Maybe it needs to be that far forward of the seat to be controllable, not sure, but that was not an issue with a banana seat on the original.
I actually just bought a kent trouvaille last week, the size you have isn't a large, it's a medium. They just started selling the large frames within the last month. The new large also has routing for a dropper post now.
Hi Steh realy nice video kinda reminds me of the old viedeo with the "Freak" bike, and i only have one question why is the fork of the tallbike white and not gray like the frame ?
Just sold my half bike. I never rode it for more than a few minutes. It hurt my feet standing on the small pedals. And the wood bit I believe was changed with the newer models. I had a model with the wood.
I love your videos since I first saw your backyard trail. I always wonder what you actually do for living? You seem to be an engineer, if I compare you to my engineering mates 🤣
Yes, riding a tall bike is easy, except for wanting tip over backwards. Lol. I've rode one, just not one like yours with gears and front and rear brakes. Awesome video Seth!
Seth, you should do a video testing the new sram transmission

Re: unicycle freemounting. On a smaller brake-less unicycle you can hold your tire in place with your hand as you mount to assist in keeping your balance under control as you get moving. You could probably do the same thing with your brake.
Not sure if you've ever heard of Thunder Mountain Bike Park in MA, better yet the trail there named "Too Easy", but it's basically a double-black tech trail that's SUPER steep. I heard a story while riding there that someone rode a mountain unicycle, probably like your's down it 😱
As of 4/2023 there are 618 different types of bikes. Five categories: 1) Antique-vintage-classic (balloon tire), Common, Unorthodox, Competition/Sport, Utility. Categories separated into groups of which there are many. Eventually, maybe a book that outlines everything. Never thought that I'd find this many, but here we are, five years later. The list grows bigger every week when I find yet another new type. Favorite? The road grader bike.
I grew up around a family of friends who could ride unicycles up to 9 stacked wheels, got on it from a rooftop I tried the single wheeled one a few times, its super hard
On the swing bike what keeps you from machining a brace that goes from the seat tube to the top of the pivot point that would prevent it from bending? Bending it and bending it back will only be an option for so long.
You are SO much better than anyone I know on that unicycle!
I think you could machine a billet brace that goes from the seat post to the rear stem cap of the swing bike to keep it from bending like it does.
@The2004NissanXTERRA

my thoughts exactly
My weirdest bike is an old LeRun Skatebike. On first impressions it seems easier than a unicycle but that is deceptive. But that makes it easier to get other people to try it. Not much for off-road though.
my guy, you have at least 3 more bottle spaces on that third triangle in the middle
Can you do a video on MTB tires? There are so many options/prices and would love your perspective on them.
Seth, I think I have a few years on you, but I raced at Bellmore against another kid with a Slingshot BMX bike somewhere around 1984 or so.
Crankbrother Highline XC is a dropper post for 27,2mm seatpost and has the biggest available hub on the market with 125mm
Love to see you try ride a reverse steering bike down one of your trails 😅
Hey Seth, Just a question. Will you be showcasing the new Sram derailleur in a upcoming video? I work at a local bike shop and we just open the crate and man that stuff is sick. Would love to see a future video of you maybe installing it on a bike.
Those bikes are very odd😂 love your videos
Good to see I'm not the only one with some inexplicably weird bikes.

You should make a high-end swing bike. Make it with a titanium frame so it doesn't get bent and all the best components.
everyone loves my home made swing bike. have done 60+ mile rides on it and it rides super comfy. I have it setup as a 1x5 with front brake only. I want to get together a crew to have swing bike downhill slalom races ;D
You need a smaller front wheel on your tall bike. It'll mitigate that tendancy to flip and your center of gravity on it.. I had one with a 27.5 rear and 26" front and I was able to cruise around hilly Burlington without too much trouble.
Hey Seth, what ever happened to the inspired trials bike. I really liked that series.
