Cycling on the east side of broward county is still extremely dangerous. Nothing has changed, though several more cyclists have been run over or killed, unfortunately.

The first one about the brakes got me good 16 years ago, I was on wet terrain and hit a patch of leaves in a corner that I needed to slow down for hit the brakes they didn't work, went into a skid and just couldn't stop at all slid right off the trail and went right into a tree.

you dont actually need water to expand the towletablets you can pull them apart with a bit of friction of your hands. just for those that prefer it dry

I find that when trying to seat a tire bead, it helps to put a strap on the tread, which keeps the rubber expanding easier where you want it at the bead. Done this with motorcycle tires for years, especially when changing out tires on trips in the front of a hotel. Makes smaller pumps more useful in that regard.

I've had surprisingly good luck with aliexpress. The worst I've had happen is I got a car charger for my phone that had no over voltage protection. For reference I've spent ~2500$ and gotten alot of things, especially small electronics and cords for super great prices

One is reasonably priced and will give you years of fun. The other can be traded in for a freaking car!! Seriously, I don't know who pays $13k for a BICYCLE!!! You can buy the best dirt bike (with a motor) in the world for that much! This is so freaking insane.

I'll take "stuff I already theorized" for 400, Alex. Yeah, mechanical trail is what stabilizes the bike, not having your steering leverage out in front as an arc around the head tube stem, lol. Plus with this being taller, it allows a more upright riding position while standing, which leads to better control and more confidence than going strictly head first into everything.

quick release: I am more concerned about the direction I fasten that lever. happend it once with me that when I fastened it forward (thinking there the frame will prevent it to hit anything) and gone for a ride a branch stuck between the lever and the frame and opened it. I did not hurt, but you can imagine if that happenes before a drop it can cause injuries. So from that day I always fasten it in a way it points backwards. I know, the chances are very low to open it in the wrong moment, but still, better be on the safe side.

For the next cheap tool review, why not try a budget tool set from a hardware or department store. 15 years ago, I got a £20 tool set from Lidl (a European supermarket chain known for good-value mid-quality non-food items). It had cone spanners (wrenches!), threaded headset & pedal spanners, chain tool, tube puncture patch kit, tyre levers, cassette, square taper bb tools, crank extractor, chain whip, spoke wrench, along with most of the hex keys, spanners and screwdrivers you could need, plus a few others I've probably forgotten. + it all came in a plastic carry case. It lived in the back of the car and was great for trailhead repairs. Some of the tools didn't fit our bikes, but there's often somebody in a car-park with a broken bike needing some help. The headset spanners and some other tools were already out-dated for most MTBs of the time, but still current for many European style hybrid/commuter bikes. I'm sure the ones they sell now will have been updated a bit, but still good for a cheap bike that's a few years old rather than the latest high end parts. The tools were all reasonably good quality, not suitable for constant use in a workshop, but enough for home tinkering. If it had been junk I could have taken it back for a full refund. I'd expect Walmart or Harbour Freight should have something similar? As you said with Ali-Express and even many eBay sellers, it's hit or miss if you get what was in the photo, or if going to do the job well, or actually damage your bike and returns are rarely worthwhile.

Crank Bros makes a floor pump that switches between high pressure mode (like a normal pump) and high volume. The high volume setting makes it super easy to seat tubeless tires. I actually own an air compressor but I haven't even bothered to use it since I got the Crank Bros floor pump.

A place I used to work at had a promo item that was a beach towel pressed into a small puck... It was meant to be dunked in water at the beach, it would pop out and you could leave it out to dry while you went swimming... The building we were at had a roofing issue and the roofers were working on it but they goofed, had to call it quits for the day and left the sketchy roof on it's own for that nights monsoon-level thunderstorm!! When I got to work the next morning, word got out that the IT company on the 2nd floor had suffered water damage, so I ran to the warehouse and was relieved to find both open crates intact with a massive puddle of water next to them... We were litterally inches away from towel apocalypse in the warehouse!!!

When he fell and you showed how his shoulder had previously dislocated, it hurt me just watching it. I've had my shoulder pop out of place so many times the doctors don't even believe me anymore. I started to cry just from seeing it happen to someone else because I KNOW that pain

As someone getting into mountain biking from a motorcycle background this makes the ergonomics look more like a dirt bike which is a win for me. The thing doesn't look unstable at all, it looks easier to control because my arms aren't stretched nearly straight.

There were a few times when you looked hesitant to use the tools because the grip was uncomfortable or you were worried about skinning your knuckles. Try wearing workshop gloves, or in a pinch wrap a rag around your hand or the tool. There are lots of small things you can do to make the cheap tools just a little easier and safer to work with.

You can also get the shortest stem you can find, use like 4 or 5 spacers to mount it a little higher than a normal person would, then get like 50mm rise bars, and the combination doesn’t look too different from a normal bike but sort of bridges the gap between this stem and a normal setup
