The "can claw". Just what I want. A completely shaken up can of warm beer after a long summer ride.

As a hobbyist 3d-printer, I can say that can holder is well-designed and printed pretty damn decently. It was clearly printed in the optimal orientation for the stresses the part would handle (this matters a great deal for strength of 3d-printed objects). He probably used PA-CF, (carbon-fiber infused nylon) which means it should theoretically get a bit stronger over time, as the nylon absorbs ambient moisture.

I'm on my second Fanttik, a warranty replacement. (Also, I had a $30 discount at the time -- no way I'd roll the dice at $70) The asthetics are good, but the internals are less than reliable. The battery will spontaneously "lose charge" in the middle of a fill until you power cycle it. That's why the first one was warranteed. The second did the same thing out of the box. And the battery life, even when working, isn't as great as it should be. Definitely checking out those knee pads, though.

I just became a member of the clavicle club this past Friday!!! Now mine was a little unusual, but still happened on my bike. I use my bike to commute to work everyday. An ironic part of the story is I work at the James A Haley VA Hospital. On my way home from work Friday, I was side swiped by an SUV. I was taken right back to the hospital I work at lol 😂😂. I'm a veteran and treated there as well. Anyway the Dr says my clavicle was crushed, 2 ribs have hairline fractures, most of my ribs are bruised. That plus my entire right side is banged up. It was a hit and run so that's fun. Long story short, my protective equipment and gear saved my life!!!! If you are out riding please put it on.

The MT200s are pretty darn good brakes too. There are a couple bikes from Specialized that come with SRAM Level (pretty similar spec level) and they are an absolute pain to deal with. And you have to use DOT fluid.
@LoneWanderer905
4 ай бұрын
The one downfall of the MT200s is that their lever is steel and corrodes over time if you don't take good care of them. MT201's fix that issue.

Also, they work much better and last longer with Shimano's newer resin pads (BS05S or something like that iirc) - I love mine.

@Saftkeur

I've been told you can just swap out the levers, which is on my list for future upgrades on mine. Bike shop guy near me has MT200s on his (much more expensive than mine) personal bike, but with higher trim levers because he prefers the feel and the adjustability. My only complaint with the MT200s I got is that adjustability, I liked having my mechanical brakes dialed in so you only need a short squeeze to start making contact, while the hydraulic ones can't preload like that, though it tends to not matter that much when you can lock it up with one finger anyway.
The can claw can SURLY hold cans. The joke was right there, Seth. Cmon man!

I need the "Clavicle Club" mug! Been a member since 2020. 😀
I put on a set of MT200's on a 2010 Kona Hei Hei my friend gave to my nephew. I was doing a refresh on the old bike and had to replace the original Deore bakes because of leaks. Got the full set of MT200 brakes, installed and bled for just under $80....great price and they work perfectly for my nephew who's new to mtn biking.
I'll take a frame bag over a Can Claw any day. Fits more cans, even with a can coozie on to keep them cold, leaves room for tools in the bottom. Much more versatile.

that bear claw is pricey.. guys could work in apple price dept ;) from my "3d printing" exp I assume production cost is about 1.5$ - 2.5$ in production (filament cost + electricity) And there are some similar free designs over the web
@brianpark4
4 ай бұрын
It's not expensive it just costs a lot. ;) I print them out of a carbon-nylon material that doesn’t degrade with outdoor exposure or high heat, and I use super low layer-heights so they don’t look like sad Etsy science projects. They’re a couple bucks more expensive than other similar products out there because a) my materials cost more, b) lower layer heights = 2x the time per print, c) I cover some of the shipping out of the price, and d) unlike some of the lookalikes out there, I pay Tim the original designer of the mechanism for each Canclaw I make and sell. All that said, if you've got access to a printer I 100% recommend downloading a free version and experimenting. I'd for sure download a bike.

@@brianpark4 That print looks fantastic, full stop. Worth every penny. I'm curious in a production environment how your nozzles are holding up with the abrasive carbon filament. I'm betting wear and tear on the machine is informing your pricing as well.

@@jackson12106 Thank you! I'm using 0.4mm E3D Obxidian nozzles on two Bambu X1C machines. Those nozzles had better last a long time because they are EXPENSIVE. I ran a lot of carbon-nylon filament through the regular hardened steel nozzles in the past year and didn't have excessive wear though, so I'm hopeful it'll be reasonable.

I like to support family businesses too. But those big buckles on the side might be a problem. If you slide out or fall to the side that buckle is digging right into your knee. If you think about it, it's why you see velcro on elbow/knee pads vs. plastic fasteners. Others have thoughts?

4:13 when i was a kid i enjoyed playing board games, but now I can't stand board games, I'd rather go watch paint dry, or grass grow. But hats off to the kid for making something like that.
Thank you Seth for repping the mt-200, mt-201s may be available in slightly shorter lever for $1 or $2 more, I have been installing several sets a day since manufacturers started putting zoom and other c-star brakes on higher end bikes. Mt-200s are a trickle down of expensive Shimano MTB hydros from 15 years ago, made with cheaper metals and on a larger scale. Wonderful product. Great video as always.
100% agree with your review of avision pads. They are bulky and finicky to use if you use them for more than one discipline because of having to re-adjust for over or under pants. But they are SUPER protective and stay put no matter what. After 3 knee surgeries, I find myself caring less about them being difficult to put on, but I still complain about it 😂😂 Overall I’m grateful to have them.
Guess I have to get that mug, im technically a tripple life time member, with a surgery for good measure

I like these videos. I use my mountain bike as more of a commuter, but I have gotten, or plan on getting parts that you have reviewed. The Fooker pedals are great, and I plan on the MT200 install at the end of this month.
This is Shark Tank of the bike world
The knee pads are worth looking into. I have the Gform E line which are similar and pretty comfortable, but they are bulky enduro pads and not the best for everyday trail rides
Looking at that cyplus again, im kind of tempted
Strong start with those brakes! I got the exact same ones on my budget bike build, except they cost me a little under $50 from ebay (free shipping and it was quick though). Kinda wish I could have found them for $30~ like that, but name-brand hydro brakes for that cheap is already super good, even the guys at my local bike shop have MT200s on some of their personal bikes too (just with the levers switched out to the higher model versions, for better adjustability and stuff; probably next on my upgrade list too, seems like an inexpensive way to get higher-tier brake feel, though so far I really haven't felt like I needed it, they're super good). Protip: these often come pre-trimmed and bled, which is great unless you're on a bigger bike and/or internally routed cables. So in those cases, leave room in your budget for extra hose, fittings, and a bleed kit. You can find cheap options for all of those, the official Shimano hoses for me would have cost more than the entire set of brakes + hoses so I went third-party and no regrets.
Would love to see more videos like this one
Love hearing your reviews, I need a can claw lol
I joined the Clavicle Club a couple years ago, got a metal plate and 14 screws along with a large scar to prove it 😅
I think this is a neat set of products... Although I have concerns with both the pump and the can holder.
Love the can claw
got those brakes from a previous video you mentioned im in and the difference is amazing! also for the price come on!!! easy to install and well worth the upgrade. something to note too is you will need to get shifter levers if you have combi ones currently installed :D
rad to see the garden trails again !! is there more to them for the future ??
myabe it had different names, but I grew up with chutes and ladders....one you slide down and the other you climb with. This makes sense with Lifts and Trails...but snakes and ladders? LOL
I own the Fanttik, got it for under $50 on an AMZN sale. If you combine it with a Prestacycle EZ Grip Big Presta Head it becomes a dream to have. Set your pressure plop that head onto the valve and let it rip while you get the rest of your gear ready. The battery is good for inflating two maybe three 2.3 mtb tires from 0 PSI. I got it following a recommendation from Syd and Macky.
These are some nice parts. And dang I feel early.
My ion k-pact zip do have a zipper to get on and off. I love them
