I had a relative in the West African Squadron blockading slave ships and another aboard the HMS Boudicea that patrolled the coast of Zanzibar until called to come ashore to raid Benin after they slaughtered a trade delegation , when they approached the city of benin they found slaves that had been human sacrifices to ward off the evil english some had been staked to the ground and disembowelled while still alive , some had been beheaded . We wanted to offer trade with them so they could give up slavery and trade goods instead , this was resisted by african leaders as they claimed it was part of thier culture and traditions and were afraid of losing money without selling slaves, i also had a relative taken by barbaries and sold on the african continent after a raid on the west coast of ireland .

This isn’t an “American” ideology either. Plenty of American lives were fed to the grinder to end slavery too. Not just in the Civil War, but in stopping the Barbary pirate trade. The narrative she, and BLM is spinning is “victim and oppressor”, which is Marxism. It has spread everywhere, including the conflict in the Middle East.

Yes, stupidly and childishly so. She got her racist @ss handed to her. And notice how she tried over and over to say that the reason the Brits wanted the statue to stay was because they're racists when in reality, it's a reminder of terrible, but nuanced, historical events that people need to be careful not to repeat. Also notice how she NEVER addressed the current black on black slave trade and human sacrifices. Lastly, there was a quick clip of Churchill's name crossed off and spray painted racist which shows that BLM will not stop at historical figures with a checkered past, but continue on to any white historical figure in an attempt to erase Britain's history. Marxists ALWAYS erase/tear down the nation they occupy and set up their own monuments, always.

Dominant African tribes waged war on others and enslaved those they conquered. The Kingdoms of Benin, Mali et al were built on slavery and their kings grew rich on their trade. Furthermore all the hard work within the fortified compound was done by slaves and even worse slaves were killed regularly in mass, human , ju ju sacrificial rituals. They were also sold to the Arabs for centuries before Colston’s time. So no they wouldn’t have perceived it as “evil“ as it was part of life for them from birth in one way or another. Im wondering what this lady does about modern day slavery in Africa, Sudan maybe? hands up who's seen the recent footage of slaves being traded? Let me describe it. I have two scenes burned into my memory. One of a group of slaves on display for sale, all wrapped in a white cloth or bag, all on their knees in a fetal position in what looks like a cattle market being bid over. A second scene of what appear to be large plastic fertiliser type sacks, tied at the top with zip ties, being opened to reveal children, gasping to breathe as the bags are opened. Opened to 'show the goods' to prospective buyers. yes this exists, yes its modern, recorded on smartphones. I might add not a white person in sight, being sold , buying or selling. Shame on our culture????? hmmmm shame on that culture. What is at the heart of African culture today Madam?????
