Harvest Right Vacuum Error #9 - Part 1

We have started getting vacuum error #9 during the freeze and dry cycles.
In this series, we will be going over the steps we are taking to solve this problem.
I have seen lots of posts about this same error, and some still don't have any solution for the problem.
👉 The Freeze Dryer we have was manufactured in April 2022.
👉 We have only had it for a few months
👉 Currently we have completed 58 batches
We start out with the basic checklist and then work into the other possibilities.
Follow the series to see how it turns out.
✅ Part 1 - basic troubleshooting - • Harvest Right Vacuum E...
✅ Part 2 - checking for epoxy leak and off-gassing. - coming soon

Worst Christmas present for the wife ever. Didn't work right out of the box. Going over every video I can find. Thank you for your series. Can't get through to customer service yet but doubt this a priority for them. Whish I never purchased but too much money to walk away.

I was working with a tech and he even called back today to see if the new cable worked. I didn't use it but stored it inside the unit just in case I later need it. The tech did tell me they have made some changes in the design. There were 3 places that caused the problems. the sensor threads, the wire going into the unit, and the threads on the connector for the wires. But that doesn't sound like your problem if it never worked. Did you order direct from HR?

I have a machine almost two months that never worked. We did dozens of tests, replaced several parts and it never would hold a vacuum. They finally are sending a new machine. I’ve never had a successful run. Praying this new one will work!

I had a similar problem with mine. It says put oil to the halfway mark, but I had to put a little more because it would go really close to the minimum mark when running. After speaking to customer service, they told me to add just below the max line, and it worked. Haven't had a vacuum error since.

I have been running mine at just above the mid-point and will have to take a look at it. watch the series and see what I found wrong with the unit. There are several problems some are design and some are manufacturing problems.

The dreaded INADEQUATE VACUUM error.. This is a HUGE problem for FD units. It's not just a few people, but numerous people have this issue..and have for a long time. Not sure why HR hasnt resolved the problem. It seems that the most common fix is tapping/wrapping the drain hose connection and the drain hose connection.. and some of the harness wires. Any unit shipped out of that plant.. SHOULD HAVE ALL THOSE POINTS WRAPPED.. The customers SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TEAR OPEN A BRAND NEW MACHINE TO PERFORM THOSE STEPS.. These arent cheap machines...not sure why HR is expects the customer to do this work.

It is unfortunate that a company would expect the customer to fix a new machine. In my case, there were three places causing a leak, and the drain was not one of them. I was eventually able to get it fixed, but you may want to refer to other videos for information on how to fix yours.

I was able to fix the vacuum leak I had by silicone caulking various points inside the machine, replacing the ball valve, and then silicone taping all the connection points on the hose lines. Took about 3 weeks of trouble shooting it myself and it was very frustrating but finally got it working.

@@LearnToFixItYourself Same. Even with every connection point on the machine sealed it will still leak once the vacuum pump is turned off, so I don't really know whats going on there. I can still get a sub 100mTorr when running a batch though, so good enough I guess.

I have the same issue. Failing to pull on while vaaccum freezing. Just fail over and over replaced hoses even total pump replacement. Valve and even oiled the seals new oil over and over still fails at about 750-900mt. Only got 36 batches out of it total. Piss poor performance for what I paid. They should be ashamed

@@LearnToFixItYourself you solved it I hope. I watched it all. They’re using pure silicon for the seal. I buried that part. When I opened the back they had silicon on the wires going in but shitty job as the wired were stretched through the silicon and created a pretty big gaps on all 3 wires. U could see down in through the silicon. Really piss poor quality review. It should never fail in first month. I bought compressors 1200 and they run perfect for many years. We have been having problems with two Harvest Right freeze driers, one is a large and one is a medium size. I am now having another vacuum problem with the medium machine. Or am I? I ask that because when I take out the tray rack it will pull a vacuum of 475 mTorr within 9 minutes, i thought my problem had been solved. But the I replaced the tray rack and ran another vacuum test. After 30 minutes it only drew down to 665 mTorr. What gives? I do know one thing for sure, trying to keep these two Harvest Right freeze driers running properly is driving me Loco.

It sounds like the cable to the trays is getting behind the trays and preventing it from going all the way back. when that happens the trays will prevent the door seal from compressing when under pressure.

when you under vacuum spray some window cleaner around the sensor connector as well as the treads and wires coming from the tank, if you see the vacuum go up that is where it is leaking from, and will have to get it sealed.
