You guys, I have the worst story ever regarding politics and my family!! This election was supposed to be my first time voting and my selfish father look that away from me. My ballot came in and my dad, who had collected the mail that day, didn’t tell me until he CAME BACK FROM THE POST OFFICE AFTER HAVING VOTED FOR ME AND DROPPING IT OFF AT CITY HALL!! This was a couple of days ago and I immediately reported that my ballot had been tampered with but I didn’t receive a new ballot in time to vote again 😡 It gets worse - I told my mom about it and she got mad at me, saying “what’s the big deal, your father’s been voting for me for years!” ??? What?!?! Then I confronted my dad about it and he said, “I looked up the issues and voted based on what I thought was best!” ... excuse me?! What YOU thought was best?! It’s MY vote, what YOUR beliefs are is irrelevant to MY VOTE!! We are on opposite ends of the political spectrum so I know he voted for me because he doesn’t trust me to make the “right” decision, but I feel so degraded! As a woman, a daughter and simply as a person I’m appalled that he assumed I’d be okay with him taking away my right to vote, especially my first time voting 🤬

It happens a lot, being politic, religion even sports . I think it's okay when people are passionate about this things but in a healthy way, people who come to strong on certain topics leave me uncomfortable

My dad wouldnt admit saying the n word was bad so after me aggressively saying it was and that his opinion on the matter was horseshit (with the rest of my family's timid support) he didnt talk to me (or basically anyone) for 3 weeks. When he finally came to apologize for not talking to me i said "you didnt?". Never said the word again

You do think that most businesses cannot afford to give a decent payment to their worker?THEY DO, and even more in hospitality where we make them earn SO much money every single day, otherwise how do nurses get payed as much as 60 DOLLARS PER HOUR and clinics and hospitals don't go bankruptcy??🤔 if you are a business owner and you don't care about your workers then can see clearly the kind of person that you are. Why is it so hard to respect that other people have different opinions. You don't have to agree about everything. You definitely do not change someone's mind by telling them they are stupid for having an opinion. I grew up in Sweden and pretty much everyone here is progressive one way or the other. I'm more libertarian, I can still respect people and like them even if I disagree. If you can't then maybe you should question if you have some growing up to do.

i'm lucky my parents and i think so similarly. i couldn't imagine living in a household where their values were so vehemently different than mine. my aunts and uncles, however, are a different story. some of them are nice but others can be condescending on the subject as well.

When my friend/family start pontificating about politics, I just ask them "what did you do today?". I'd rather hear what you do than what you think.

I've been arguing with my family - not because they support a different party to me, but because they refuse to look into politics because they want to be "neutral"

No.. that is just a shallow way of Judging Someone and is a HUGE red flag to your own shortcomings. Same with Spiritual beleifs. If you can't get along with other people based upon their own personal political and spiritual beleifs then you yourself are never going to get along with other people.

Around election time in 2012, two of my classmates would argue about politics during most of our history class. Keep in mind that they were in the seventh grade (I was in eighth grade), and they were arguing like an old married couple on the brink of their third divorce. I didn't care that they were so passionate about politics so young. I was upset that they were wasting my time and my parents' money (I went to a private school). My choir teacher did the same thing during my senior year when we were supposed to be practicing for our Christmas play. There was no point in her lecturing because only one of us three seniors could vote, and he wasn't going to vote.

It seems like the main reason Shallon’s become more moderate is because she was cancelled by people that tend to be more liberal tbh... like, don’t get me wrong, I watch all her videos and I love her advice, but that’s just what it seems like to me. I agree arguing with family over politics is not a good use of emotional energy and I also dont think anyone should go around criticizing others fashion choices but for a completely different reason. Shallon seems to think fashion is only about impressing men...what about wearing something that makes you happy, even if someone else thinks its "wrong" and you look "bad"? I might be in the minority here but my fashion choices aren't always made based on whether I might happen to end up competing for a guy that day and he is going to choose some girl in "better" jeans!
