I'm not a cop. I could walk up to the owner and I could say who owns Unit 14. Now he doesn't have to tell me. But it's not illegal for him to tell me. It's probably bad business for him to tell me but as long as it's not illegal he can do it. Likewise the cops can walk up to the owner and say who owns unit 22. And if he tells them then that's okay. Of course he could also say no I'm not telling you unless you've got a warrant. But there's no law making the owner say that. As a general business practice any owner should refuse to disclose information without a warrant. But it's never illegal to ask.

I'm sure they would.. watched a body camera video and saw them do it to a guy on private property who had a garage slightly open at night while working on a car. It wasn't a house, but a small building with a garage that he ran his mechanic business out of. Cop just walked up and started banging on the garage door while ordering him to come outside immediately to answer questions. When the guy did, the officer decided to just walk in and search the garage to make sure the guy wasn't "stealing or stripping the car". He even shoved the poor business owner.

I'm not on the cops side on this but the guy was wrong in one part of his argument. Cops can patrol private property that is not gated and they have not been trespassed from or if the property owner has a written agreement with the police for them to do so. Business owners are tax payers too. In this scenario the rookie cop should have got out and made consensual contact. Observed locks were not cut , not demanded ID, chit chatted about why they patrol there and been on his way. Instead he demanded ID, escalated it by claiming the guy was burglarized his own units and kept approaching to go hands on. He's got the wrong mindset to be a cop.

The government wants to rule everybody and everything you do even from birth even when you get your Social Security the government even lies to you about you need a drivers license when that’s not true I can prove it please.
