Get Out of the Car! I am not a lawyer. This is just good common sense. But you do what you want. I don’t think there’s a perfect or best way to protect ourselves when they demand we exit the vehicle. We have to use the means, the tools that we legally have. I think this will help. We must exit. But one thing the cops hate is silence. They hate when we stop talking. So, we let them know, “when my foot touches the ground, I refuse to say anything else”. I believe something like this below will help us. Things to do: 1) As they approach, roll up the windows, lock the doors, so they cannot jerk the door open. 2) No one talks but the driver. The driver says, “I invoke my 5th amendment rights to remain silent; I don’t answer questions”. Display driver license, registration and insurance on demand. If they demand we exit the car, do you fear for your safety? No harm in asking. Might provide useful info to your attorney, if you later need an attorney. You are purposely putting me my personal safety at risk standing on the side of the road. I will hold you personally responsible exposing me to highway traffic if a passerby vehicle hits me or my car. A sane person would not purposely put someone at risk if they were concerned for public or personal safety. If you pulled me over for a traffic offense, write the ticket and let me be on my way. Cops lie, so I don’t believe anything you say. I don’t want to; but I will exit my car. You are forcing me out of my car, I will do what you say because I am under duress. I am not doing you a favor. I fear for my safety. Your simple act of forcing me out of my vehicle is escalating the situation. And once outside my car, I will not answer any questions. I will not acknowledge any questions. Do you still want me to exit my car? When you do get out of the car, stop talking. Say nothing else. Once you say, “I don’t answer questions”, you don’t need to keep saying it. If i heard this video correctly; somewhere in the beginning of this video, the pokice officer said; he witnessed a disturbance. Well even if it was a disturbance; its not a crime. It can't be a crime. To have a crime; there needs to have a victim. Tell me where's the victim ? Who got hurt ? Or wheres the property damage ? The Police Officer then changed it to; you almost hit a car. "Almost" is not a crime. A police officer can make a traffic stop only if a crime has been committed and this car was involved in the crime. If the police are chasing a stolen car, yes that's a crime. A hit-and-run, yes that's a crime. But to say; you almost hit a car ; almost is not a crime. The fact you have 2 police officers here, shows me; police officers are bored. There's no crime going on anywhere else. That's why they're here, wasting a lot of tax paying dollars doing nothing.

Cops touch your vehicle as soon as possible when they walk up. It leaves prints/dna that connects officer to your vehicle.

@@interestedparty00 I think it was started before dashcams and such. Officers called in description of vehicle so if something happened they could connect correct vehicle with the stop. I agree stupid, meaningless practice because what if the person driving had stolen the car. Or if officer called in plates they could have been stolen and then removed before car was located.

As much as I wish it was not true, if he was pulled over, and they order him out of the car, he must exit. Passengers as well, but they do not have to produce ID at a common traffic stop unless another crime is afoot and they are involved. Keep reading. The driver keeps saying he knows his laws, but unfortunately he does not. And he makes himself sound dumb to keep saying it. For one, he says the cops must identify by law. Not true. Most police departments have POLICIES that their officers must identify upon request or when contacting the public, but it seems they seldom enforce this policy. Also, when they ask him to exit the vehicle, he offers the law regarding when a subject must identify which is totally different that when driving and pulled over for a traffic stop. He is correct that you need NOT identify unless (1) you are committing a crime; (2) have committed a crime; (3) are about to commit a crime. Short of on or more of these, a citizen does not have to produce ID unless he has been legally arrested. Also, giving a false ID at any time to police is a crime, so don't do it ever. Moreover, suspicion is not enough to arrest or compel giving ID to cops. There has to be reasonable, articulable facts to support their suspicion. If a reasonable person would have their suspicion dispelled, they must immediately release the subject from any detention. They cannot prolong the contact once their suspicions are satisfied. Moreover, they do not have to produce a witness as the driver keeps insisting. They are allowed to conduct an investigation and use the results for further action and release of the detainee. Producing witnesses is for court.
