While I would love to honestly believe this as a pit bull advocate I have to say this way of thinking is faulty and hurts our cause. Both genetics and environment play a part in a dog’s, or even human’s, temper/attitudes, but genetics will almost always beat out environment, specially in dogs. Temper is something that gets bred out or bred into dogs. We can’t just say such a broad statement like “it’s all in how you raised them”, be cause we KNOW that’s not true for either humans or dogs. Pit bulls that have grown up in horrible conditions, been abused their whole lives and have been used for fighting can turn out to be the sweetest dogs in the world. However, the opposite is also true. Pit bulls that have grown up in a nice home and have been loved and nurtured their whole lives have been known to turn on their humans. Saying “it’s all in how you raise them” doesn’t help and could potentially endanger someone’s life. We have to accept that they can be both excellent, amazingly lovable dogs as well as dangerous and people need to be aware of that.

Same 😢 I get way too attached to dogs 🐶 Even my friends dogs I love as if they are my own. Once you have that bond with a dog, it’s basically impossible to break.

Its save dogs from being euthanized though!! It's hard but sooooooo worth it and super important, saves a ton of puppers from being put down.

I know how he feels. I’ve been fostering cats and kittens for years. Sometimes you bond a little closer and there is an urge to adopt but then remember you need to keep space for future fosters. It isn’t easy but all the other positives make it worth it.

For some reason I get the feeling that some craphead used her for breeding and then when that was all done and over, she went to the shelter. I really, really hope not.

I applied yesterday to 2 shelters to be a foster dad for senior dogs. Fingers crossed!!!! It's been an empty journey thus far bc I have 3 cats.
