The depth of Bobs vocals.. the harmonies.. All the nuances happening, and the Complete FLAWLESSNESS of the Performance! It’s AIR TIGHT from beginning to end. Absolute goats! Pure Magic ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ I’ll probably sing some Bob soon and post. Thanks for this video, your boy sent you the track of tracks 🙌🏽

My favorite Marley/Wailers album definitely. I like the way it was recorded too. That original Wailers sound with Bunny and Peter was hard to beat. There’s a couple good live shows released from that era. Talkin’ Blues (the album) and the Burnin’ deluxe edition has Live at Leeds Polytechnic in 1973. Guessing it’s the same tour as this performance from the BBC.

And like you say, so much going on with the back up vocals in counter rhythm to the lead vocals, all the while playing in perfect time. Oh my. Of course it goes without saying fantastic songwriting and singing also. Thank you for an education in Subtlety…

You should have used the studio version of the album " Catch A Fire " with the very nice and sweet guitar solo by Wayne Perkins ( probably with a Les Paul ) and NOT this live version ( very similar tho ) with the organ solo !!?? For a guitar teacher that would be more interesting and also for us ... This live version was recorded on T.V in the U.K around 1973 before the release of the album " Catch A Fire " that same year ... We can see Bob Marley playing with a Strat here , maybe before starting using his Les Paul Studio that we see from '74 until his death in 1981 !

I've heard that old analog recordings made on tape reels tend to be out of pitch past the middle of the reel due to the difference in speed that happens as the tape passes through. CD's used to have designations like "AD" "ADAD" to indicate if the material was taken from analog to digital and/or how many times. That's why the keyboards are also off pitch. Something a radio DJ told me years ago.

This isn't a live recording. It's the studio version. They sang over the track for the show. Familyman talks in his book about how he would speed up the tape to give it a special sound. That's why it's a little sharp. I don't know why the guitar solo was removed and a clavi was overdubbed. You can hear it in the beginning of the track.
