At this point they were called "The Wailers" after Peter tosh to his right and Bunny wailer to his left, left the group the group became Bob Marley and the wailers.

A great track by Bob Marley, he did a lot of great music which doesn't get played, everyone seems to play his well known hits but not the album tracks so much, which is a pity.

It was kind of a political song, about poverty and oppression, and it's a really great performance. You can hear the emotions his voice, and the harmonies are great.

Technically - and it is a minor technicality - they weren't Bob Marley & The Wailers at this point, they were still The Wailers, before Bunny and Peter left a few months later. They also did an astonishing version of Stir It Up on this broadcast which was really their major breakthrough in Britain. You really need to see as well, it'll give you shivers.

I was always under the impression it was written about his experience living in London. There's an excellent BBC doco called when bob Marley came to Britain. Where they discuss it. It's well worth a watch

I tend towards Morgan Freeman’s thinking on Black history month , he said it was a distraction and allowed a feeling of “ well what more do they want ? They’ve got a month now “ and I agree . It’s a purely invented narrative that salves the conscience of the non black community that can now safely ignore the lives and issues of the black community for the following 11 months and I don’t see that as progress and a lot of the seniors in the Black community agree with Mr Freeman . Don’t blame me 😅 you two brought it up first ✊ As for this track , it’s not only my fav Marley track , it’s not only my fav reggae track , it’s not only my fav Marley studio appearance it’s basically one of my top 5 songs in my life ever and this live appearance is the pinnacle of TOGWT entire history - it’s 🔥 and I adore it 👌👏 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Some things are best left in the past because of friction that they cause. Okay, acknowledge the rights and wrongs of everything, but leave it be and live in the here and now. Too many people go on about things that happened long before any of us was ever born, and there's nothing we can do about it except repeat their folly. Skin colour doesn't matter a jot because when blood flows, it's always red. We should leave all enmity in the past, except England and Scotland for The Calcutta Cup.

Bob Marley grew up in a poor country area on a farm with his mother in Jamaica. Jamaica, especially at that time, was not very developed. A lot of people don't know that Bob Marley was a country boy who turned into a reggae rockstar. I never considered these facts until this video. This song makes so much more sense to me now.

Chris .. they only do St Patrick’s day in north America ? 😮🙄😳… Is that GTA humour ? 😅….. 😝😝😝 It’s Ireland’s patron Saint as you hopefully know .. so no , it’s not just North America . Irish folk emigrated to all 4 corners of the world and everywhere they went they took their traditions and patron Saint with them . St Patrick’s day is HUGE in Ireland and the UK , I’m sure down under too , basically if a country speaks any English there will be Irish folk celebrating St Patricks day on the 17th March. There is a horse race meeting here in UK at Cheltenham and if St Paddy’s day falls on a day they are racing the place is packed with literally 1,000’s of visiting Irish celebrating their patron saints day . 😅 Your welcome 👌 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
