This cannot stop because in Koran a woman is commanded to take responsibility for attracting undue interest of men. There is a reason Iran punishes the mother if the Ulema/virtue police feel the daughter does not behave/dress modestly. It is not just in the culture but in scripture that is considered the word of God!

My concern in all of this was that when he came to visit, there were so many red flags to the family. If we were being honest, there were red flags to Nadine as well. Yet she sadly overlooked these and traveled to America alone to see him. The age gap alone should have warranted at least a friend travel with her. I am not in any way victim shamming. I just hope that in the future, young women will accept what they are seeing and take steps to keep themselves safe.

You present very good points and is very unfortunate that now a days asking/analyzing human behavior can be seen as 'victim shamming' when a story like this can provide further knowledge about human behavior, perspective and due to the need for care and affection/love the lengths some people will go in order to attain them. Other examples are women in their last stage of life seeking relationships on line and exposing themselves to scamming and losing all their life savings. At the end of the day is personal choice/decision making and to many the world can come down in front of them but they have set their sight on a specific person and nothing and no one will make them turn away no matter how many red flags, red lights, or warning signs might be blinking/turning on such is the reality for many people.

And if he EVER tries to contact you, you should contact the authorities immediately. You also DO NOT let him back into your home, or go to dinner with him. There are certain situations that only the person at risk can be responsible for when it comes to taking actions to avoid putting themselves in harms way. After what happened to her in NY, and especially after they learnt about her phone being tracked, the first thing to do would be to change the phone. Why wasn’t that done???? I just don’t understand it. And why do women try to prove anything to the abusers? You leave them. NO CONTACT. That was her biggest mistake unfortunately deadly…

@@TubularBellesthey lived on different continents. If she changed apartments, phone he would have no way of finding her. After a while he would give up and find someone else. Her problem was keeping contact with him and going to his hotel.

Muslim, Christian, animist, Jain, Buddhist, Hindu, agnostic or atheist, we all know there are a lot of predatory men out there and that it's easy for a man to physically overpower a woman.

This is why in Islam, the family starts investigating the man quite early if there is interest. A friend of mine was heartbroken after the family investigation of her "fiancé" came back negative. She was told to cut off all links with him. Now, that friend's followed islamic reservations and shaperoned their girl. She had a rough time after the infatuation but she was saved from a bad relationship. Nadine's family is English and probably did not know some of steps to take. May God soothe their hearts and give them sabr. Nadine is in paradise.

They live in the UK why should they live with bs traditions. Raise your daughter independent and your sons right. Let women make their own choices to learn to avoid creepy like this. No background checks will prevent an abusive partner. He was raised muslim so why was he like that? Should raise your sons better so they dont become obsessive, abusive narcissists. I'm not Muslim, but it strikes me as absolutely sensible that a woman should never travel alone to meet a strange man and be hosted by him. That there should be a friend or a family member present -- precisely because Muslims, Christians, Hindus, animists or atheists, we all know there are a lot of predatory men out there and a man can physically overpower a woman quite easily.

This is so sad and horrible. Where was her father? Why was she allowed to go all the way to New York alone. The guy doesn't look safe or trustworthy AT ALL!!! SMH

After her trip to the USA, she should have cut all contact with him! Why on earth she continued being in contact with him is sad and regrettable.

Lesson learned 4 me while been dating online😢

This happened almost 10 years ago so we didn’t have the kind of awareness that we do now about when our phones have been hacked. That being said, after surviving that NYC trip, she continued to make bad decision after bad decision. There’s a lesson here tho! Ladies trust yourselves and your instincts/intuition. We’ve been equipped with them for a reason!!!

Most rich people, millionaires, don't brag about their wealth, simply because they don't want to attract gold diggers who only want their money. I also agree with poor Nadine's brother about the murderers sunglasses - I also don't trust anyone who wears sunglasses, especially when meeting for the first time, cos it's shows they're hiding their true personality, but don't want you to see their true colours. In the very end, it was her decision to be alone with him in his hotel room. Up until that point, her family tried to help her. Honestly, I think that they would have had to lock her up to prevent her from meeting with him. She was a 28 year old woman who had the right to decide what she wanted to do. No matter how wrong a decision it was in the end.

My heart breaks for Nadine and her family 😢

Those are the characteristics that psychopaths and narcissists seek out in their victims. Someone I met online asked me if I trust people easily, I told him no. The same person later told me that he was in the MIT (Turkish FBI). My mind immediately darted to this video and I stopped talking to him. I believe he was trying to get a feel for who I am and if I would fall for his antics by asking me questions like if I trust people immediately and trying to get me to reveal my deepest emotional wounds to him. He seemed almost disappointed when I told him no, I don't trust people immediately; and seemed a little at loss when I didn't reveal any emotional wounds to him. Predators look for soft targets. When they meet someone who has their defenses up, they leave.

The way Nadine handled this was completely wrong, you lot stop sugar coating it saying she was a vulnerable young girl, she was a grown woman who knew right from wrong and the fact that she chose to meet her abuser?? ridiculous!

I am very sorry for what Nadine went through, as well as the aftermath for her family. Rest in peace my lovely.

Why blame social media. She did not do her homework, and despite her traumatic experience in New York in the hands of the controlling boyfriend, she decided to meet up with him the second time. I feel sorry for her.

She can just leave the passports and everything in reception but she still chosed to go to his room...if you think the person as dangerous, you have to know and not even trusting it

The girl was impressed by his money and it turned out to be a nightmare. Too naive to believe that a millionaire was looking for a date online.

So many red flags. Why she got involved with someone who drinks and a so called alcoholic. She shouldn't have met him alone.

I seldom have learned about a case where there was more red flags than here. All this could have been avoided by some common sense. Nadine was 28yrs. and free to do what she wanted. No one could change her mind, very sad case, online dating is not the way to do it, go out and date and be very careful.
