Hi Dave, yes, this was an awesome find, 14K solid with a sapphire eye! That was a great way to get year going for sure! The coins come out of the sand very discolored, from green, to various shades of brown.

Hi Kate, yes, it was a beautiful morning on the beach and a perfect hunting spot for me! My first gold for this year! Other beach detectorists do a "gold" dance or something to celebrate their gold find but I decided to add the fireworks instead!

Yes, it paid for the G2+ with $$$ left over! Perfect conditions for this hunt: Great weather, no one else detecting. low tide and super low, eroded area. A great ocean dumping area!

Hi, yes, got to pay attention to the finds. In this area I got the sinkers, large screw, 3 bullet casings, large glob of lead, quarters (all heavy objects). I was excited to get what I was getting but the gold did the trick, major excitement kicked in when I realized what I got! Happy Hunting

Oh absolutely. I scoured all of that sand in that area and found other things (bullet casings, the screw, sinkers & quarter). So heavy objects got dumped out by the ocean in this area. I was so happy to have found it!

All i can say is WOW!!! I sub lots of diggers and i love fishing, so i admit that tuna is prolly the best non-coin find i've ever seen. I love in comments you say it's your first gold of the year. Well my parents live in Melbourne, Florida - 1000 feet from the beach and they walk it every day. I'm gonna send them a link to this video, and see if i can get them on the program. Hi Basia,super find....doesn't it feel good to find gold.I see you use a GT2 Plus if you change the coil to a fisher F19 coil or the same coil Teknetics 10 x 5 elliptical industry standard it is a gold finding coil.You will wake the detector up much more.it see less ground and makes the detector separate much better on small items and also you can learn how to pin point you target with the tip of the coil and then you won't need to use a pin pointer.I have the same ,been using it for years

Ok you have to stop! and leave me something to find I hope to be there in July 2018 bringing my Minelab E-trac we stayed in Atlantic Beach Last year and loved it, I brought a Whites XLT but did not find much due to beach reclamation. Hope this year is better. Great find on the tuna looks like it's worth about 700 to $1000 from the internet.

Yes, people wear good jewelry everywhere including the beach (or on their boat, etc) and lose it, just the way it goes!
