I feel like this is what happens when we hit our 40s and 50s. Just managing grief and loss. Life is hard a lot of the time. That’s why camping is so important

Thinking of you and sending love your way Steve. I lost my beautiful wife (of 7 years) suddenly two weeks ago. I am 32 and she was 47. Hands down the love of my life. I’ve been re-watching a lot of your videos to remind me that life can go forward. As you might know, I’m feeling like it’s all over and nothing will ever be good again. You have been a needed source of encouragement to show me that it can be done. Things for us may never seem “normal” but for now I’m just hoping the next day will be better and hurt a little less than the last. Much love to you Steve. -Chris

HI Steve, I'm writing to thank you. I recently suffered a massive infection, and I am staying at a friends to recover. We picked up the same cot that you've used many times, the one with two extendable poles, a tarp 'bed' that you put over, and legs that you attach from the bottom. Best sleep I have ever had. I am SO terrified of my parents dying! I guess it's nearly inevitable since we are, by definition, younger than they are, but I don't know how I'm going to manage. Both my parents have cancer and my mom has it for the second time. I was never about to "make something of myself" so I'm not only going to be devastated when they die but I'm probably not going to be able to afford my life either. Just one's parents dying is just terrifying so much respect for getting through that, my friend!

@@whoever6458 my father in 2005 my mom in 2011, mom was diagnosed in summer 2011, suddenly passed on my birthday in Oct. I was completely devastated! I definitely appreciate your words! My best advice is to be around your close friends and family... Be there to support as much as you're able to! Be sure to eat well and take care of yourself, keep your self active, work keep up with school, it'll help take your mind off things... Even mentally preparing yourself will help a little but talking about it is definitely an outlet!

I know there's lots of other voices here, but I hope you're making it through all this okay, Steve. Sometimes life catches us at a bad time and gives us something worse. Sometimes it feels like all life can do is get worse. But I hope you know that your videos, your affect on the world, it matters. It may seem like all you do is make camping videos, but you can never, never truly quantify the difference your small actions & decisions can make on the world. I love your energy, your drive, your creativity-you've, at the very least, made a difference for me. Be well, Steve.
