    I wish these existed 20 years ago when I got my first bass. Back in 1990 I spent 4x as much on someyhing that sounded far worse.

    @@stevekonbass i hit the jackpot a few days ago and landed an unbranded Chibanez (same as the Glarry GIB) on Amazon for $22. Listing got pulled and fixed but the bass arrives tomorrow 🤘 Going to do some custom epoxy work then find a school or kid to give it to.

    I love my Glarry Jazz bass. All it needed out of the box was one saddle adjusted and to be tuned. Sounds every bit as good as my friends Squirer I learned on.

    Someone needs to make a Glarry vs Ammoon video,the two most popular of the cheapest basses one can get,these glarrys are going to be like Tiesco in the future,if you don't know about them,Tiesco was a Japanese( I think) guitar company that made rip off style guitars and basses in the 70s,now their very collectable and some are pretty exspensive

    I have two, a black unbranded one and a natural finish Glarry branded one. They look, feel and sound identical, other than the branding on the Glarry. The nut is odd, as you pointed out. It looks like they cut the nut slot with the same tool they use for the frets. In any case, mine both seem about like yours and are of equal fit and finish and playability to one another, so it looks like they're at least reasonably consistent. I bought the unbranded black one first and figured if it was total garbage I could just hang it on the wall as a decoration, but I was pleased enough with it that I went ahead and bought the natural finish Glarry version too. These are a great, cheap way to have multiple tunings or string setups without having to change the strings on just one bass. I have one strung ADGC just for fun and the other one is wearing D'Addario EXL280 piccolo strings. I'd love to see one of these cut in half to see how the body is made. I'm guessing it's essentially a thin wood box with some kind of foam inside, perhaps. For the price, these are no-brainers. I really dig them.

    Hmmm...finally took the pickguard off the black one and it's solid wood. I'm not sure why they describe it as wood and synthetic; it's just a standard 3 piece wood body. 🤔

    Nice review, bass mate! I have an exact model like this under radar. Why? I'm learning to do my own fret work...leveling/crowning/end filing, etc. and will use as a "surgical subject". Afterward, will load a Badass, CTS pots, which I have on hand. Then if the spirits moves, new tuners and pup, after which it'll be my Plan B on gigs. Plan A = my beloved G&L P. Thanks again!

    I hear this again and again. I got a Glarry P-Bass, I played with it all over - fine bass. I also got a T-Type. just as a mod gtr, but I have to tell you, the "metal" SHS model, don't bother, can't do thing with it. That bass is their best product, IMHO. Get one of these and slam some strings on there that best suit your style. You can gig with this thing, too.

    Great review. These are picking up some attention around the bass forums Quick question- is the neck chunkier, thicker, or otherwise different-feeling, than a standard P bass? Some youtubers are mentioning that. Thanks.

  • @stevekonbass

    @stevekonbass

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks. To me it feels like a standard P. I play a Fender Jazz and there's a different feel going from a Jazz to a P. The neck of the P is a little thicker and the string spacing a little wider. To me, the Glarry felt pretty close to the Fender Precision.

    If you get a chance, let me know what you think of it when you get it. They're new to me so I'd like to gauge if their production quality is consistent. As I showed in the video, there were some defects in production that got through, but I tested the play-ability at some gigs and it played fine.

  • @nrich5127

    Just a comment - I doubt if the bass is bass wood top and bottom with a composite in the middle - these added steps in manufacturing would increase costs. Most likely it is the cheapest grade of an Asian wood similar to Basswood hence all the visible graininess in the clear finished one and the light weight. All the bodies would be made on the same cutting machines and then sent off to the paint shop where some will be clear coated and the others painted. Even the necks although maple are a cheap variety with dark grains seen on the head stock. Using these much less expensive woods is a way of getting the costs down.

    It doesn't get rich, round, low end for starters. If you watch this other video I did you can hear the Glarry compared to higher end basses: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4CJl8N_gNW6Xco.html Now, that doesn't mean you can't learn on it, it's just not going to sound like a Fender.

    I bought one of their Gjazz basses in what they call "Burlywood". It was about $79 and I am amazed at how well finished it is. I also bought one of their Strat style guitars and I wasn't quite as impressed with it. Definitely needs a setup and the fit and finish weren't quite as good. The packing was substandard for it as well. I'm not sure if they come out of a different manufacturing facility, or what, but hey for the money, you can't go wrong.

    Based on my research I am extremely confident that Glarry music is owned by Yall Inc. which runs the following eBay pages: www.ebaystores.com/yallstore www.ebaystores.com/worldokit www.ebaystores.com/city-green and also Yoshioe Brand on Amazon. At face value they all appear to be different stores, but they are all the same company with a different store front , making a corner on the market. You will find the same Glarry guitars being sold for cheaper and even unbranded guitars (same exact guitar without Glarry logo) at these different websites. So before you order from the official Glarry site, keep this information in mind to save yourself a little money.
