Trogly gets to do what so many of us would like to do, and shares it with everyone in such a way that we get close to having that experience, too. My kind of guitar guy!

@@jared305 that’s the point. It’s called a customer profile and Gibson doesn’t market themselves to people in the minimum wage position. Neither does Rolex, Ferrari, Lexus, etc. they have epiphone to cater to people in your position.

That part at 13:36 where he starts trashing the Spotlight Specials to keep the prices down had me ROLLING! Those price jumps in the video were hilarious. From $7,499 to $99,999 instantly. Too funny.

The center line contrast with the burst makes these really satisfying to look at, happy Thanksgiving everyone 🦃🦃🦃

Good for you, Austin. The value of a collection is in the heart of the collector. Also... thanks for the tip on the custom shop sales site. Alpine White Custom is on the way. With the exception of my 62 Melody Maker and 2 SGs (one a 61 reissue and the other a Modern) all my Les Pauls are custom shop examples. Keep it up, brother!!!

The one you like the least is probably my favorite, I like how the burst matches the center line

Back in the 90s I knew a guy who had one of these, although heavily gigged and far from mint. It had a pair of Lace pickups in, and a shiny 'mudflap girl' sticker behind the stop bar. Last time I saw him he was playing a Strat with a HSH set up, and now married had the 'Mudflap Homer' version stuck on it. He still had the spotlight, although apparently after a head break it wasn't as good. That was about 10 years ago.

I'm sure the one you called quilted is really Ribbon coil maple which was from the late 50s. I've got a Yamaha signature 'Keith More' which was made by a Luther at Yamaha CA and his Dad had worked at Gibson back then. He gave his son some of this wood for a special project ... which became my guitar.

Austin, The Antique Burst that was your least favorite looking was the one that I liked the most… it was something about the way that the flame faded into the dark edges looked really good to me

Is there any reason you couldn't add a number of small washers behind the truss rod nut if you're running out of thread on the truss rod?

Spotlight specials are pure gold.

You know you (or someone) could very easily drop fill those tuner hole clear coat chips, to the point that where you couldn't even see the repair. It's extremely easy to do using any thin ca glue.

That's a lovely top on that first one. I love the natural colours. It allows the wood to do it's thing.

Don't feel too bad. Lita Ford owns an Explorer that I had custom made for myself and won't sell it back to me. I had to sell it a few years ago, and it just killed me to do so. Really nice collection Mr. Trogly. Happy Holidays.

Where in Wisconsin? Is it a place connected to the birthplace and home town of Les Paul, Waukesha, Wisconsin? That's where I grew up, and I'll be there mid-day tomorrow. Sorry, I missed the Discovery World pictures. I'll see if I can find time to take a walk through there in the next few days, if it helps. Also, I've got a few builds starting, and it looks like three, "single cut," body styles, one similar to a Custom, probably gold hardware (not sure about frets), and one with a single pickup, kind of a "made for Metal" feel, and of the three, two will be primarily Mahogany (gorgeous "ribbon" figuring), and one out of White Limba (Korina). These Specials have the wide Walnut center stripe on the front, I have STUNNING Maple tops, but I was considering a middle stripe on the back, between book matched ribbon figured Mahogany, of a book match of Bloodwood strips about .180" wide (or a dozen other species of figured hardwoods). What's the general view of such custom touches. Nothing gaudy or tacky, I'm not putting cubic zirconia on abalone, as I've been building guitars and basses for about 25 years, so I am very meticulous in build as well as design ideas. Redheart? Purpleheart? Bubinga? Walnut? All very figured...

I am from the UK and now NZ. We do not do Thanksgiving but cheers. We have our own public holidays. But I am noticing our retailers are beginning to do all the American sales like Thanksgiving and Black Friday etc. It's kind of weird how stuff makes its way over here. Even more so now everybody has internet connections to the world. People are even beginning to spell incorrectly like Americans do, e.g. color and harbor, instead of colour and harbour et cetera. :P

I own SO MANY GUITARS. I'm getting sell most of them on Reverb. Just changed my shop name to The Strings Picks and Fiddle Sticks Store. I bought five boxes and a Brother label printer.

Would be cool to do a vid or a series on "Birth year guitars". For example, sometimes people like to buy motorbikes, cars etc from the year of their birth as like a treat to themselves. For me, I'd love to know like some cool special models from 87 for example. Maybe some years might be boring and not have much to choose from but others might have some special rare models that someone born the same year might be interested in as a birth year guitar
