Good decision to mount the tanks externally, especially for the gas system. I did the same and I've rarely had any problems with temperature. The slight problem I have had was the drain point for the grey water but it's rare and a pouring some warm water over it was all that was required. I did do a winter tour of Northern Norway though, trying to photograph the aurora, and for that I bought a couple of tank heaters. They run off the battery and done the job perfectly well. 👍 I was a bit concerned about the gas regulator freezing but, so far, it's not been an issue.

Hi bertina, I only had carpentry skills, the rest, electrics, plumbing etc I had to learn as I went, it's not so bad in the end lol. Good luck with your future van, we love ours and I'm sure you will yours 😁👍

Hey guys :) great choice using an ext gas tank much safer than internally and easier to fill, it’s pretty much what I’ve got planned for my new conversion. Can I ask what made you choose a Relay rather than the goto Sprinter or Crafter? Looking forward to watching the build progress 👍🏼

We went for the relay purely because its wider, so it meant we could have the bed across the width of the van, that's the only reason.

Where did you get the water tank fitted?

evening Lou, thoughts on the possible lack of uk LPG station forecourts versus a gas bottle? trying to figure if worth the cost of underslung and seen lots of news about the lpg being withdrawn in uk?

Hi Lou and Emily, we have just started our van conversion and came across you by watching John and mandy, you can build videos are giving my hubby and myself the confidence to have a go. However the gas electrics and water was always something we planned to have done elsewhere. Could you possibly point me in the direction of who you used please as we are north Yorkshire x

Hi toni, firstly welcome over and thanks for watching 😁 the electrics Lou did herself so can't help with that one. For the underslung gas tanks we used autogas 2000 and for the water tanks we used Barratts tanks, both companies are in Yorkshire and both excellent service. They just fitted the tanks though. Lou still connected it all up on the inside, ran all the pipes etc and fitted the cooker, sink etc. Hope that helps though. Good luck with your build 😁😁👍

I can't remember whats in the video lol. The gas tanks plus level gauge plus fittings for Europe were £850ish, the two water tanks and level gauge were £360. I think u could get the gas cheaper but we wanted to make sure it was done properly and these guys had great reviews and the proper qualifications. And thank you 😁👍

I know that you'll both not have had much chance to try out your systems during lockdown - however, I'm very interested to know your thoughts about the size of tanks you chose and how they correspond to your requirements for onboard water. Thanks as always Stuart :D

Hi Stuart, to be honest I can't really say, we have been using the van but it's at the house so we have constant access to water. As pure guess I would say we could go about a week, but that very much is a guess. We don't have a shower, if we did I think you'd need more. We also have a small Jerry can that we use just for drinking water.

@@stubostar it is just a guess tho, and I think we will have to be careful with it. Shaun at baretts great, there was a long waiting list when we got ours done, don't know what its like now, post virus lol!

great vid ive been looking at prices for the gas and water, you mentioned £800 ish i take it that was the gas only , no prices on their sites

Hi, we found it on ebay, a guy just had the one that he was going to use in his own conversion but didn't. They're not easy to come by!

Where did you get that single seat from ? I was looking for a single seat for my Boxer and couldn't find then I just cut it in half.

Hi Nicole, to be honest it was a nightmare to find, and cost a fortune!! We found one on e Bay in the end. A drivers seat from a European vehicle would also work, but we couldn't get one of those either.

I think it was about £350 for 2 tanks, the fitting and a little gauge to tell us how much water we have. I have some work left to do tho, I need to drill a hole in the floor for the pipes and Plumb it all in.
