Leaving your wife at home and travelling with a cat would, if done by someone else, be a pretty boring video. Not with you two though! The format was great; cutting to Em at work and at home, the food theme, the superb camera work (especially with Summer) the B roll and editing, the humour and disappointment - topped off with the split-screen bit at the end, made this a most enjoyable and easy to watch episode. Well done Lou and Em. You guys rock!

I thought this was a cool video , you ladies are so much fun . So relatable , both of you . I am a foodie and greedy sometimes too . Your van is so adorable . I think about living van life too sometimes . I just love how you gals fixed the van up yourselves and you both did an amazing job . The thing I love most about the both you is your love of your fur babies . Summer is so sweet , I love Tuxedo Cats and I have had a few and they are usually pretty smart , very loyal and loving. I thought it really showed the special relationship you have when you were comforting Summer and she rubbed her face on you and leaned into you . Sort of a hug from a cat . Lou, a solution to not washing up sauces, make sure you leave half a slice of bread until the end, then wipe around bowl with bread and eat. so clean just rinse and leave to dry on the rack. hey presto.

Another brilliant vlog, we are what you might call some of your older ( let's say ancient) fans. I am essentially a grumpy old man so Louise we should get on just fine. Totally agree with you about the van parking in the uk, it's only going to get worse. We have just come back from two months in France in our self built sprinter, Brittany, Bordeaux, Carcasonne and the Pyrenees, so much easier than the uk and the roads are so smooth, (no rattles) You will love it when you get there. We had to come back because our health insurance was withdrawn. Hopefully get back later in the year. Love your content and style of vlog, keep them coming.

Found your channel a couple of months back and just catching up on all the videos. Got ridiculously excited (and sent a still to my partner) when Louise drove down our road (bump bump bump bump)... That roads even worse now!

Great video as always guys, lovely to see Summer out and about. It's a shame you have to do it on your own, I'm sure it would be easier with Emily helping, if only to cook you a decent meal. When I used to take the cat in the car, she'd sit on the front passenger seat with her paws on the passenger window looking out. so maybe tether Summer on the passenger seat so she can see out, she'll probably be more settled.

Our two female Cats age 6 and 3 always travel with us in our Campervan.They are both housecats but travel well.Yours will do too it just takes a little time for them to adjust.Just be careful whenever you open a door make sure you know where she is.We were in Tesco car park in Hartlepool by a major road,it was evening and our cat got out.She had fun making us chase her around,SOO be careful.And nothing wrong with the tight collar.Ours need tight ones too as easy to escape from it Lovely video btw.Love your style. atb Michael and Elaine.

New Highs! Cat on a lead. I tried to take mine out on a lead (he has FIV so he can't roam freely) but he has figured out that if he pulls back and makes the line taught he can run off. Not ideal.

Lengthen the harness lead so she can peek over the the shelf to see out. Some cats develop car/motion sickness from not been able to see outside. In other films you show her looking out windows. You could always add a low cateye/fisheye window at floor level/bed level. If you want to let her free. Pet stores ofter sell netting that can be used in van to prevent pet from going to driver front seat.

Summer is absolutely beautiful! We walk all 3 of ours on leads and some days they want to explore and other days they just want to sit under the van as well. Plus our fluffy two (who are also slightly tubby) look like they are bursting out of their leads as well haha! You crack us up, you guys are like us, anyone watching from the outside would assume we don't like each other but its all banter and love! and then you throw the odd 'twat' and such in when you talk and we're like yes! our kind of people haha. Hope it goes well with Summer in the van x

I'm not sure that the lack of overnight parking is specific to Kent. Try Lake District - it's one continuous double yellow line - specially in the more popular areas. Now it's gotten even worse with the current situation - they even closed off the more remote lanes and lake sides - where there were a few nice stopping spots suitable for campervans - probably because people went wild camping there. When I went to Coniston in August, I drove around for 3 hours trying to get a parking spot - after which I just had to give in and head (ironically - considering this video) for the coast - where there were still some parking spaces.

It's true that finding overnight spots is easier in continental Europe - and specially France - as, for example in northern Italy, the situation is not necessarily that rosy - specially on the busy coast. On the other hand, in UK, I've had much better nights just finding a quiet, leafy residential street, driving there after dark when nobody pays much attention, sleeping there overnight parked anonymously next to other vehicles - and then moving early in the morning to whatever beauty spot I want to be over the day.

Fantastic vlog....great idea and as funny as usual! Summer did so well, I imagine much harder for a cat to adapt....I’m sure she’ll get use to it! Are you guys going to the Overlanding show? Thanks guys for another great vlog xx

The HS2000 works fine, lasts about 32 hours on 4.5kg ( we don't have a gas tank) if it was on all the time ( obviously it's not as its on a thermostat) so probably lasts twice as long. (64hrs, we have it on low at night ( about 16dg) or off as we cannot sleep if too hot. We chose gas heating as we originally had lead acid batteries and diesel heaters draw 10 to 12a on start up (glow plug) so we were concerned we would run out of battery power if parked for a few days in January when it's -8dg. Now we have lithium so loads of power to run a diesel heater, decided to fit one now because if we go to Spain in January we could not carry enough gas for cooking, water heating and heating for two months especially if parked up for days at a time and the weather turns cold. hate being cold

Grrrreat vid, on point editing . Kent coastline looks lovely, pity about the parking restrictions. Lass after my own heart ( nature , woods et al ! ) . Funny vid, the coast shot was nice! Great work on the editing! Traveling with cats can be nervewrecking, had a trip with two, stuck in a thunderstorm on the motorway, that was no fun... I think Summer needs more experience with driving around and adapting to new places everytime you stop, you can tell from her big eyes that she's very excited. :-D Rattle roads are standard here in Germany, not even the side roads, even the main ones are destroyed as well, somewhere the money has to go, streets are no priority... :-D Height restrictions are no fun, seems that they learned from our people at the North Sea coast, the red&white beams are everywhere... Rely on park4night, it gave me a nice place two weeks ago in mid-Berlin, right to the river Spree, I would have never found it by myself... Have fun, thx for the vid!

Hi there, yeh I think you are right, she just needs a lot more time and a lot more trips, I'm sure she will get used to it soon 😁 It surprises me that the roads are so bad in Germany, the Germans usually look after things like that much better than we do in the UK. Park4night is a great app, although I think our council may be using it as a guide of where to put their signs and barriers 😂

I’m still in the research 🧐 mode at the moment and looking to be building a CamperVan (Ford L4 H3 Transit Van 🚐) at some point next year. So as you can imagine I’ve watched a load of vids, but, must be honest here, this the best video I’ve watched to date. You want to walk a dwarf lop eared rabbit through a town centre on a daily basis as use to live in a flat and the partner at the time insisted the rabbit needed walking. To make it worse the rabbit had a pink harness and lead🤦‍♂️ 💙

You need a diesel heater there brilliant were saving for ours now for the winter, hope she settles in to the van , we are thinking of taking our cat along with us but if he doesnt take to it it will be granny babysitting from time to time

At the minute any sort of heater would be great lol, it's very cold in the mornings!! Thank god for pet grannies eh! 😁

Brilliant as always. Try the cat by a window when travelling. You may find the sensation of movement without the visual effect is whats unsettling her.

you should get a passenger seat dog bed with the seatbelt clip for your cat! ive seen a few van lifers get those for their cats who don't really like being tethered in the back!

I live here, the crack down is getting quite bad, new height barriers going in, loads of new signs going up, I spent nearly a whole day driving round one day and found not a lot. Like I said, lots of places to park, not many that were very nice. Kent is fairly big tho, but where I was it wasn't all that easy and I grew up here!

Great video .. couldnt you make a little den under the bed that's all boxed in and the cat enter from the front ...it sounds like she wants a little hideaway..you could also add clip to secure her for travelling..

Thanks mandy, she actually has a hideaway built in under the bench seat! Obviously, she doesn't use it lol! I think perhaps she prefers to be up high, typical lol 🤣

@@campervibe oh what a shame ...I have to make my bed up in my camper and my dog always slept on seats and bed with me .. I started giving him treats and now he snuggles up underneath me . Maybe some treats and encouragement may work . Typical tho .

Love this al a carte (practicing my French for future trips) food comparisons, especially the bald bread. Was that a Jamie Oliver recipe? 🤣 Would Summer perhaps prefer a soft bed or a pet carrier with the door off, as she seems to like her cupboard? Has she traveled with AJ in the van? Perhaps that might make her settle.

I can't agree more Lou Kent is totally outlawing wild camping and I can foresee problems with self builds in set motorhome bays before long as well and I have also had problems with a traffic warden at Reculver as well for being a self build . I can park on my brothers drive in birchington or mates drive in Ramsgate but wouldn't try parking Winterstoke way or East Cliff after reading latest comments on park4nite but coming from Ramsgate I have friends and family there . I'll have to look up that hideaway you found we only have a T4 so should be fine . Sorry about late response I only found your channel in Jan and was doing a bit of binge watching . Don't bother with Southend either as they have banned overnight stops as well . I think Scotland or Europe will be the only options soon .
