Enjoying your content man! Couple of suggestions for your shelter ventilation :) Try turning the fan around so its sucking clean air into the shelter instead of blowing dirty air out of it. A 4 inch fan for that size area is fairly underpowered, for optimal air circulation you would probably be looking at a 8 - 10 inch (thats what she said) fan. Are you planning to use the other vent as well? That way you could have one fan sucking clean air in and another blowing dirty air out. Would advise using a larger fan to suck air in and a slightly smaller one to blow air out. Keep up the awesome work guys!

I have to admit for a channel I found by accident I am throughly enjoying every video. I live i northern AZ and am lucky to have much cooler summers but you get much warmer winters. My only suggestion would be an evaporative cooler. Uses less power and just some water if you can work out air flow.

Also could try running a 1/2” pipe with misting sprayers around the ceiling, misting down onto the walls. Run on a digital tap timer on for a minute, off for 10+. You will see a massive drop in the wall temperature. Don’t leave running constantly as may cause corrosion.

Great job, now as you are getting closer... You need a few things. 1) an insect, spider & snake proof cover for the vent pipe outside (and another for inside too). Probably an extension of a couple of feet too. 2) don't forget to make it rain and snow proof too! Most modern shelters use a curved pipe to prevent rain & snow intrusion. Note here too; I don't know if you live in an area that gets any flooding, but take that into account also. 3) you should really get a carbon monoxide detector! By the way even burning candles down there is a bad idea! As the candles or other burning occurs, it lowers the oxygen level!!! Come to think of it, there really should be another pipe like that, probably on the opposite side of the shelter that was used as an air intake or exhaust; whichever way the had it going. One way in, the other out. If you have any plans for using/restoring this as a true fallout shelter, you'll need a proper intake air pump (electric and manual) and multi-stage air filtration unit to keep out radioactive particles. By the way too, that big pipe would also make a nice passage for low voltage wiring for an outdoor weather probe and video camera lines. You are correct, that IS a whole bunch of thermal mass! When you set up your AC unit set it around 70 degrees (or whatever you are comfortable at) and not too much lower, otherwise you'll freeze you butts off... Not that the Mrs. has any to spare... Uh, sorry guy, but hey it's your fault for you keep showing it off. As she pointed out... Please keep off of the furniture! Especially the structurally questionable termite eaten furniture! Trust me, it may only seem like 18 inches, but concrete floors make it seem more like falling 18 feet! Ouch! 🤕 Visually run out you electrical box lines and find which one goes thru the wall to the outside; probably also near that vent pipe. By the way, poop flows downhill, unless that thing has a macerator & pump. I mentioned that in a previous comment. Let's hope the sewer line isn't full of rocks!

Let’s rattle can some reflective silver Rust-Oleum paint on that sliding steel cover. If it doesn’t help it will at least look cool. See, I have always wanted to design an underground "shelter" for all my radio equipment. And was thinking about some kind of passive heating and cooling for it. Like the passive solar heating kits you can make to circulate air though a window. Zero electricity required, uses convection to circulate the air. They work awesome for heat, but something for cooling, possibly evaporative or other would be awesome. Of course, humidity would be a huge concern of mine around sensitive electronics. Idk. Just a thought.

Find a used swamp cooler on market place or craigslist. Instead of the pads, run furnace filters or the blue dura-cool pads mostly to filter out insects. It's getting into the upper 40s at night; blowing night time air with a cooler's exchange rate will drastically reduce the temp down there. Leave the entrance open about 2', make a panel to cover the opening where you mount the cooler and return air over the entrance opening. You can make ductwork from sheet plastic. Fold it over and tape the seam, the blower will inflate it into a tube, hang that from the ceiling and route that to the back of the room to force the warm air back out and up the access.

Flood the "cooker" from a large tank of CO2 after sealing ALL the holes and gaps with Duct Tape. Let the temp reduce the Mass. To verify this will work, dig or drill an 8-12 foot small hole in the ground away from the bunker, and use that remote thermometer to verify the actual ground temperature at the depth. The thermal mass has had years of time to accumulate it's high temp, so with flooding the bunker with extreme cold should start the decline in the thermal mass temperature.

I'd throw an ozone generator down there. Also need to think where it's pulling air from? Don't want to suck in weird gasses from the septic or other sources. Any radon gas concerns?

The door leaks enough air for an intake, But I hadn't thought of it pulling air from the septic!

Gosh, I had that once in a hotel room. Apparently they had put a better seal on the door for sound insulation. The fan on the A/C was so strong though that it pulled sewer ait from the toilet. Thanks a lot...

You should put a vent roof cover on the end of that vent pipe.

What happened to the A/C? You don’t need it for humidity and it would help but would be fighting the earths heat sink all by itself. Let the outside cooler denser air in so it displaces the hot air. If you do hook up the AC then put the hose from the AC up to the exhaust fan that is directly on the pipe, other have commented. For Air flow shorter, straighter and smoother pipes are always better. Without sags 😢. Figure out a way to let air in or out on the overhead door, maybe cut a hole and put another turned down pipe. You need an in and out action for air. Also a small oscillating fan to move the air out of the corners and that bathroom. Good luck, thanks for making us chuckle, looking forward to next video.

I think the part where your vacuum rocks from the inside the shelter has all the makings for a hugely successful TikTok dance challenge. Isn't the key demographic of TikTok teenagers that like to clean bomb shelters found in their backyard?

I'm surprised it's so hot down there. I guess the bunker is just too close to the surface. At 90 degrees, one would not be able to survive more than a few days down there. Excellent tornado, or short term fallout shelter, though.

I think those black cylinders were air filters for your vent pipes. If they were in place they would have kept squirrels and more bugs out.
