Get to know me: The Atwood Adventure Tag -

Debra, thanks so much for doing The Atwood Adventure Tag. Great to learn more about you. Love the distinction you made of having a personal assistant. That would be very handy. Atwood would love your themes! They fit right in with her work perfectly. 😊💙

You are welcome. I'm looking forward to watching your tag video. I am very behind on my booktube watching, after having to take time away due to health issues. Hence the delay in my reply to your comment. I still really miss the work I used to do. It was very fulfilling but I don't think I will be able to go back into frontline care work for the foreseeable future. I did it for 20yrs though and it was very rewarding.

@@bookinwithdebra I also took a little hiatus for health issues (hence why I still haven’t done the tag!) I miss my work too sometimes, but I also don’t think I’ll go back either, which is a shame but it is what it is. Hope you’re feeling better! X

Hi Debra, I’m so glad this tag is going around again. I did it last year and it’s a lot of fun. I loved hearing your answers. Yes book tubers are creative I’m so little brave for putting ourselves out there. I wrote a memoir that deals with trauma and I’ve always worked in the field of social work so I understand getting burned out.Aloha

Hi Marilyn - it's a great tag. Writing your memoir sounds like it might have been a difficult experience. It's a great achievement. I still really miss the work I used to do. It was very fulfilling, but I don't think I will be able to go back into frontline care work for the foreseeable future. I did it for 20yrs though and it was very rewarding.

I have come back to this tag again, to see if I could do it now - but I (a) don't read Margaret Atwood and (b) don't have great answers to many of the questions. However, you did well with it! And mentioning me in a tag has been great. I'll keep you in mind to tag for something interesting in due course. When you're least expecting it. When you're sitting with a coffee, relaxing. Bam!.....:-)

Great answers! Yes to the underfunded services here. My mum worked in a care home and I work in the NHS and worked in advocacy before that. I read books on these themes but sparingly as they leave me feeling wrung out.

A different, but still very interesting, video this week. Ahh, fish and chips - definitely one of the great English meals. My wife got a taste for it when she lived in England for a few years before dragging me over to Florida in 2006. We still have it regularly over here but, guess what, America hasn't heard of mushy peas! So we have to order tins of Bachelors mushy peas in 6-packs through Amazon marketplace every so often. Thankfully we're able to source our cups of tea and bread & butter locally. Thanks for putting this video together for us all. Best wishes, Brian.

Hi Brian - the fish and chop shop was like a dream first job for me when I was 13yrs old because I got to eat them at weekends at work 😀 The novelty quickly wore off though. I am sorry to have to tell you this Brian but I really, really don't like mushy peas 🤢🤮 But I am pleased that you are able to still enjoy them in Florida. Wishing you all the best. Take care

I stepped away from my career about 4yrs ago after 20yrs. It was just supposed to be a break for a couple of years, then 2020 happened 😑 A lot of the services I worked in or with, are either closed or running mostly on volunteers with very little funding. It's a sad situation.
