But before all of that, Ronaldo was plagued with injuries all season, people were questioning his fitness, notice how other players help him up when he gets down, they didn't want him stressing his legs out. The fact he scored 2 goals in a final and gave Brazil the victory on such a grand stage is testament to his skill as a player and his heart to the game. He never gave up when people gave up on him, this was his redemption.

I'm from Germany and I can remember this game. I was 8 years old and Kahn was my idol. He was just unbeatable in this Tournament before this game, he hold EVERY ball against usa or south korea and he was the reason why germany was in this final. (especially vs. USA, can you Show that, fifa KZread team. It is a furious game with the best team USA has had) I can remember, everybody expected in germany that brazil would win because the german team was at this time (compare to today) a junk team. We qualify in relegation and the Tournaments before they didnt played well. Nobody expected anything. Everybody in this team grew beyond oneself. I knew we would win, in my 8 years old imagination Kahn was unbeatable and this moment when kahn slipped that ball at the first goal, my dreams were destroyed. :D But this experience is the reason why i played football in my childhood and why I watch football every week. (and play too many football video games :D) I congratulate brazil, thry deserved it and Ronaldo was one of the greatest striker in history. But as a kid I maybe hated you at this moment til 2014 :D

Dude, I'm from brazil and was born in 1991. I dont remeber a thing of us winning 1994 and cried my guts out in 98. So this match was amazing for me and for all my friends. So I cant say Im sorry for Kahn or germany because thats football. We had a great night in japan and you guys deserved a lot in 14. May we see our countries win more and more. Best regards.

It was funny, Brazil even went into the tournament as outsiders. Their qualification was very difficult. It's crazy to think about it afterwards considering the key players they had. Argentina and France were the big favourites to win the tournament but they couldn't survive their groups. Early 2000s was a great football era. I remember star players were better spread amongst countries and leagues, and there were plenty of surprises along the way. It was fun. And smaller clubs also managed to have a star playmaker. Overall, I prefer the 2000s over the 2010s which was all about Messi, CR7, and a handful of top clubs.

This brings back so much memories. As a Chinese, first time Chinese national team made it to World Cup grouped with Brazil. The cup game was hosted in Korea and Japan. With the arguably the best team in the history of the football has seen for Brazil, I fell in love with so many Brazil players, whose names just stayed with me forever. Kahn became my favorite keeper and Klose made a fame in this cup and went on to become the highest goal scorer in the history of World Cup. What a time and what a memory. Respect to that generation of footballers.

O Neymar de falso 9 agora caíria mto bem. Pena que o Tite testou isso pouco. O Neymar é um excelente garçom e a perda visível de agilidade mas não de habilidade que ele teve nos últimos anos colocam ele como perfeito pra posição. Neymar tem um senso nas jogadas que é raríssimo, isso não tem como negar. Realmente teve tempos que achei que fazia mais mal que bem mas atualmente a seleção tá independente do Neymar, então ironicamente ele acaba servindo melhor se colocado na posição certa.

I almost agree in anything, but one. Turkey in the 1st match was hard for Brazil and the referee were not in his best day (let's say). Against Belgium, other referee denied a Belgium's goal without any logical reasson. Apart from this, the rest is true

Después de volver a ver este partido tras muchos años, puedo decir que Brasil ganó esta Copa del Mundo porque era un equipo bastante sólido atrás y en el medio campo, contar con Edmilson, Kleberson y Gilberto Silva les daba mucha capacidad de recuperación y movimiento a la espera de lo que hicieran los 3 de arriba Ronaldinho, Ronaldo y Rivaldo, como también les daba soltura a sus laterales, Roberto Carlos y Cafú, algo que pudo emular el mismo Scolari en 2014 ante la ausencia de Neymar y Thiago Silva en las semifinales contra Alemania, pero en lugar de eso prefirió mandar a la guerra a un Bernard muy joven y con poca labor defensiva y dejar muy expuesto a Dante como el sustituto del capitán Y así los últimos entrenadores han hecho cambios de último momento que han perjudicado los últimos campeonatos de Brasil, Dunga tenía un equipo muy sólido pero tuvo mala suerte contra Holanda en 2010 y por ejemplo Tite falló desde el momento en que decidió retrasar a Coutinho y mandar a la banca a Renato Augusto en la Copa del Mundo de 2018 Que lindo es el fútbol y el Mundial, porque pequeños detalles son los que te pueden dejar fuera de la competencia u obtener toda la gloria

Un comentario precioso es cierto que la delantera están entre los diez mejores delanteros de la historia pero lo que le dio el mundial a Brasil fue su defensa muy sólida con tíos muy fuertes grandes rápidos y físicos para mí la mejor selección de la historia ganaron con soltura el mundial ganaron a medio gas

man i miss the old world cups, also african cup back when countries like nigeria, senegal, cameroon, ivory coast had insane players and it was so much fun to watch.

So much love of this game from both teams! I missed 2002 Golden years now 2024 is Ok too.

2002 first time i watched football WC final. Because of this legend ronaldo..he was the only reason i started waching football..but that time i did'nt know about his injuries.even so i think he was the best.after knowing that then i know he definitely is a legend.."phenomenon"💪

Can you explain to me what makes Ronaldo Nazario so special? Everyone says he’s the best but personally I don’t see what makes him outstanding. I always felt he was an ordinary striker who’s reputation became way overblown after scoring in the 1998 Champions League final against Lazio as well as the 2002 World Cup. From the games I saw, he’s mostly a target man who missed a lot of easy sitters. Not really impressive at all.

This World Cup got me back into soccer. In gym class my teacher gave the option of playing basketball or watch the World Cup. I choose option b. Not regrets. Since then I support Chelsea FC, the US team and my home country of Colombia. I love this game and its a dream of mine to go to a World Cup game. I know there are issues with FIFA but this tournament is so special. Not even the Olympics has such amazing fan comradery. Nationality, faith, color etc. None of that matters when this takes place. Yes, there are those who cause trouble but that is a small number compared to those who enjoy it and interact with others from around the world.

Legends of this game R9,Ronaldinho,Cafu,Rivaldo Pereira,Carlos, Pierluigi Collina and Gilberto Sliva

Germany really did great, they played great in all the matches of the year, Even in the Final they tried best but,,just accept that Brazil deserved the Trophy. Tgey were unbeatable that year. @@USMNTsoccerELITE Before his injuries he was more then just a striker, his combination of technique, speed and strength was unseen before that. Legendary strikers like Van Basten and Romario could score alot of goals but Ronaldo could do it all by himself by just dribble and accelerate past the defenders. When he scored in the Uefa Cup-final 98 he already had won Ballon'Dor after scoring 42 goals in 45 matches at PSV and 96-97 34 goals in 37 games at Barca. After his injuries he was never the same but was still a deadly world class striker or else you don't score 8 goals in a single world cup, no one have scored as many in 12 tournaments since 1970. Also 15 goals & 5 assists in 19 World Cup matches. Klose beated him but has 16 + 5 in 28 matches.
