Lyrics
I should have known
It seemed too easy
You were there
And i was breathing blue
Strange
Don't you think i'm looking older?
But something good has happened to me
Change is a stranger
You have yet to know
Well you're out of time
I'm letting go
You'll be fine
Well that much i know
You're out of time
I'm letting go
I'm not the man you want
I should have known
It seemed so easy
You were there
I thought i needed you
Strange
Don't you think i'm looking older?
But something good has happened to me
Change is a stranger
Who never seems to show
Well you're out of time
I'm letting go
You'll be fine
(or maybe you won't)
You're out of time
I'm letting go
I'm not the man that you want
I never should have looked back in your direction
I know that
Just the same old fights again, baby
These are wasted days without affection
I'm not that foolish anymore

@@zilfman It has sold 8 million copies in 25 years. The album didn't even crack the charts in the US. And if you ask around many people will not even know about this album. Faith sold like 10 million out of the gate. So yes, it was/is a vastly underrated album.

YES! So deserving of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame entry he's getting - he is the artist of my lifetime that has made the most impact. Younger folks don't realize he was as big as MJ in the 80s and 90s with more US #1s than anyone not named MJ, and his #2 I Want Your Sex would've been a #1 if not for stations refusing to play it during the day.

He was a perfectionist t when it came to the mood he wanted to create in his songs...and if you listen to everyone of them there is a meticulously crafted vibe, and it is all his story......the highs and the lows and the in-betweens.......his heart was so big and he was so much more than what the main stream media made him out to be....he wasn't just a mega pop start, he was a man, a human being and he had the same things life lessons as do all of us, but the different was that he was in the spotlight so everything was portrayed as being so sensational and more than what it was. When you lose the closest family member you had and the love of your life, plus being watched continuously, something has to give.....I think he was an exceptional Human being period..

This song never stood out to me until I started re-listening recently. As the others have said, it took us to be older to relate to it. It's like George left an Easter egg for us younger fans.

This is my favorite GM song. I love the stylization and the simpler sounds. The song is a powerful double meaning. He doesn't need us, or his fame as much anymore and he is more confident in his life choices. GM's work as an artist exposes a side of him that few people bother to see. He wasn't beautiful just for his hyper sexualized masculine image of his youth as he was in his humanity and his ability to use his life as the conduit to his artistry. I love the "older," more mature GM. He striped down his look to the essence of his message, which I appreciate had to be somewhat difficult to make so much of himself vulnerable to the public. Well done, George. I only wish he knew that we "got" him..

For me, it has become a deeper meaning of , ‘I get you’. There are so many layers to the man George was, the man he wanted us to see and the man who spent so much of his life being judged and trying to live up to the image someone else told him he should be. I don’t think we ever saw who George really was in the depths of his soul. Clearly, his musical talent speaks for itself.

This man was so freaking brilliant, gifted and so .. so much like his mom.. very loving .. definitely a talent gone way to soon. George Michael was is and will remain the most talented singer songwriter producer and musician from 1982 to present day as far as I am concerned. Not only is he a beautiful man on the outside (right down to his sexy feet) and on the inside..He gave us so much joy while he was dealing was some pretty tragic stuff... I have every one of his CD's and not a day goes by that at some point in my day I am honoring his amazing talent and playing them.. it sometimes goes on for hours .. some days I youtube his interviews. RIP George Michael Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.. You are loved and missed dearly. It was such a privilege to grow up and get old with him and his music.. Sad to say so far in my opinion since the first song he sang, there has been no other that compares to HIS OVERALL TALENT and personality- he has REAL- NATURAL TALENT not just as a singer,, songwriter, producer etc.. but he had the Biggest loving and giving heart.

corinne noah Indeed Corinne ! George is my favourite singer ever since 1982. An incredible singer and person. I’ll miss him a lot cos his music 🎶 has took an important place in my life. As I am also concerned, for me is the best singer songwriter producer of our generation. Someone told in the newspaper that he was the MacCarteney of our generation. Now, I’m gonna listen to a masterpiece called “Praying for time” under the current circumstances. I am sure George is in a beautiful place with his mother Lesley. Take care Corinne and keep safe. 😊

But something good has happened to me Change is a stranger Who never seems to show Well you're out of time I'm letting go You'll be fine (or maybe you won't) You're out of time I'm letting go I'm not the man that you want I never should have looked back in your direction I know that Just the same old fights again, baby These are wasted days without affection I'm not that foolish anymore

It's an outstanding George Michael tune. The mood he creates in this song is brilliant. George was an outstanding artist. I miss him very much too.
