Ah no, a lot of times humor is just poking fun at things. Philosophy trues to seek truth. His humor is based on baloney, like the more people dying from religion. The the last 100 years, secular Socialism, Marxism and Nazism has killed more people than all religious wars in history.

Although a quick glance at your comment makes one believe that you appear to have a point, your judgment is fundamentally flawed, because it ignores that Socialism, Marxism and Nazism are things of the past, whereas religion is still flourishing. A philosophy thousands of years old is still being used as a tool in order to manipulate the masses, keep people under control and deprive them of the chance to acquire the ability of critical thinking. It takes wisdom to present humanity's flaws with a sense of humour and Carlin did exactly this. Actually, now that I think of it, we can't expect him to be able to reach the very people he was meaning to criticise! So go ahead and say what you will.

Wayne Harmon what???? That’s an absolute lie first of all about death toll and religion coming second in that race because even nazis were driven by race and religion hence “the holocaust” and even if you don’t want to count that one and ignorantly call it simply nazism then fine but you do realize religious wars still continue today and in the past they have recorded wars lasting decades long with a couple billion in death tolls????? I mean it’s cute you want so bad,y believe religion is great and it can be in ways but like any system that man made, it’s very flawed.

@gherrrie he gave me life? How about babies with congenital disease that die few days after their birth? Or innocent people who were killed under the name of religion? What did they do was so wrong that they deserved to be "purged"? Which one of the ten commandments of God have they broken? You ask me to follow and listen to your God, I am sorry but I find no reasons to, maybe it's because I have reached the age of reason. On the other hand, you should be ashamed when a dead comedian made more sense than the god you have been blindly following.

There was rumble in the jungle at their homes when he comes backs from touring. Constant fightings while his waifu. No wonder why he hates religion with a passion. He was lonely and sad. He was desperate to show that he is not guilty and often finds reason to justify his actions by attacking religion. Sounds like your dad is/was a cheap ass loser. God does not need money, but common sense tells normal people that the church has real every day expenses and everyone who donates does so willingly. Your dad got to go to church for free if he chose. The fact you are sharing this in this context proves you are as dumb as him

on the one hand, parents are just people on the other, we don't need to be _told_ to hold them in high regard; many of us, small children and vulnerable individuals in particular, are psychologically hard-wired to view good caretakers that way intrinsically but if you have children to produce labor because your economy is driven by menial work, then the whole deal gets kind of screwy because it's not just about fostering good feelings in the intimate family unit, but also about propping up the community's livelihood through agricultural means it's sort of like enshrining small businesses or farm subsidies in modern legislature

It’s both contextual and situational, because Honor Thy Mother and Father shows that these people deserve our obedience and respect because they procreated us, but the question is whether we are going to give or take it; that is choice. Respect and obedience is different for someone who is not related, because the whole saying that, “I will only give you respect if you don’t respect me” is contradictory since respect is deserved to the ones who has the qualities to be respected. Pettiness is not a respectful trait.

@@MrLuna098 You speak from a misunderstanding. The implication is clearly "if you want *special* respect and obedience, you must show you're worthy of it." Most people have a basic respect for others' lives and rights, what people mean when they say "you must earn my respect" is that if *you* expect to be respected so much as to be obeyed, you have to earn that. There is nothing petty about wanting to be treated as equal rather than inferior.

11:40 Yes! YES! Exactly what I always thought! Back when I was religious and tried my best to understand God. I always find it offensive how people treat an All-knowing All-powerful being like he's their personal buddy or something. And despite the death, poverty and disease all over the world, people ignore all of that and praise God what he's done *for them.* Maybe they were looking for a scholarship and they got it, or there was a massive hurricane that hit a school, 100s of kids died, but their own son survived, Praise be to God!! It baffles me how narcissistical some people can be and they're not even self-aware of it.

Carlin really wasn't a comedian; he was a philosopher and thinker. He made it funny for us, but these are real ideas meant to challenge us to think about stuff we assume are true about life. whether you agree or not with what he says you have to consider his point. comedy is just about being funny, nothing wrong with that, but I just want to point out that guys like George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and even Dave Chapel get pretty deep with some very serious issues and people listen and are affected. The craft of stand up comedy, I think, is greatly underrated as a major driver of social commentary. There should be awards to recognize their contribution in that regard--real awards though, not like oscar or grammy; more like a nobel. just saying.
