From roughly 1200CE to roughly 1400CE, the Islamic World was under attack. By 1200, the Abbasid Caliphate had shrunk to a shadow of its former self, having survived under some overlords. Three Crusades had struck the Middle East. The Reconquista had seen great success and was about to nearly bring Muslim existence on Iberia to an end. The Muslim East was a mosaic of smaller Sultanates and Emirates that fought each other and paid lip-service to the Caliph back in Baghdad. This civilisation was about to come under siege. This world was about to be trampled by Mongol horses.

Jamukha was captured by his own men, who handed him over to Temujin. The latter then executed these men and then offered Jamukha a chance back. However, Jamukha refused and asked for an honorable death where his blood won't be shed. Temujin agreed to this request and had Jamukha's back broken.

Facts: 1 His wife (Borte)was not the only person who was kidnapped. They also captured his mother & married her to a "low class "man. 2 Genghis Khan was able to defeat his rival mongol chiefs coz he promoted & accepted his men based on merit & loyalty unlike his rivals who promoted their men based on their clan or aristocratic backgrounds. 3 Whenever he defeated a rival mongol/tatar clan ,he will kill all the chiefs & aristocrats & absorb their men into his army. 4 He used to take care of their families of his men who died in the battles

Although the Turks often comprised the bulk of the Mongol army as well as the bulk of armies opposed to the Mongols, throughout the domains of the Mongol Empire there was a diffusion of military technology, which has already bee and also ethnic groups. In addition to the Mongols and Turks, other ethnicities served in the Mongol military machine and found themselves distant from home. May, T.M., 2012.
