I recently acquired (through an auction $275!) a beautiful, brand new 2013 (protype) Godin A6 Ultra (high gloss red with on board tuner). I own two Taylors (810CE and a T5 Koa). I LOVE THIS GODIN!!!!! I have always been a Taylor girl but this is one of the most comfortable, beautiful and sweet sounding guitars I have ever played and I've played guitar since I was 8 yrs old (and I'm now much older!!LOL). I am seriously considering selling my Taylor T-5 and purchasing a new Godin A6 Ultra (Koa) or high gloss black. IMO this is one of the best. I play professionally (like most musicians have a full time job as well) and when I gig out with this guitar everyone is amazed at how great it sounds.

Hi there, the guitar was plugged into a Blackstar HT5 amp in the clean channel. It was mic'd with a Shure SM57. The bridge pick up was plugged in directly. We use Cubase on a Macbook with a Presonus Audiobox 1818 interface. The only processing used was a touch of reverb from Cubase. Pretty basic, we try to get the instrument sounding as real as possible so we don't process much. Hope that helps..

You need to shake that guitar more with that human body vibrato. Definitely hear the difference and looks so cool. EPILEPTIC STYLE!

How did you switch the pick ups with out touching the controls ?

I just bought one for a different sound. The neck is quite chunky, and the neck radius is more like an acoustic than electric. Played acoustically it leaves a lot to be desired, but then I didn't expect much. I play mine through a Fender acoustasonic and a Roland blues Cube. It seems well made. This is my first Godin. It cannot compete with Taylor equivalent of this, but then it doesn't cost 5G either.

I bought the a6 ultra cognac several months ago and have played it in live settings multiple times. It has never given me any surprises when switching between electric and acoustic pickups. Very predictable tones and the piezo pickup sounds like my Jumbo acoustic guitar when played through an acoustic amp. I use a Fender Acoustisonic Jr amp with rack mount compressor and Sonic maximizer on each channel. Perfect for live worship settings.

recently bought one of these and can't use it yet plugged in. The low E, A, and D strings are twice as loud as the other strings, and the high E is very quiet. It came this way brand new, so the guy who signed the inspection card at the factory lied.

One of the coolest acoustic riffs ever! And it's actually "Hole Hearted", but you are grammatically correct technically lol.

Hello Jay, your review of this guitar is the better that I saw; a question: what equipment you use for record the sound, do you used some FX processing... any information is welcome, thanks.

I need to know what amp(s) you are going into..... electric? acoustic? both? you demo'd the pickups without changing the sliders so I suspect you have two amps with volume pedals/kill switches on each. without this info, the review tells me very little about what to expect in terms of sound. Thanks,

Can you use just one cable and blend bqck and forth between the piezo and single coil or do you need to use one cable for each pickup? Dumb design if not .....hw easy would it have been to have a slider or a switch that toggles between both pickups or blends .....who wants to use two cables thats clumsy

It's amazing how much more the "high gloss" version costs for the same guitar as the base model. Owning the latter shows intelligence. Owning the former means you're overcompensating.

Not really! The high gloss will last a lot longer when gigging, the gloss protects the finish! And not only that gives a sound with more presence, higher end. Two different guitars in my eyes.

Usical instruments are also pieces of art so if you can afford something more appealing to your eyes then go for it.

Godin recommend only electric strings for thih guitar. They claim acoustic strings are not good for humbucker. And electric sting sounds great! I have tried couple days ago.

Not quite sure why you are jerking the neck up-and-down struggling for vibrato or something stop doing that and you will improve your playing a 100%

If I'm not mistaken he was connected to 2 different amps and just changing amps via an a/b switch which didn't require physically changing the pickup.

I like the idea of an easy to play acoustic as well as electric so I don't have to keep hauling two guitars, but the electric sound just isn't that great, and while the acoustic sound is good, it cant touch an Epiphone DR500 or the like, for a true full bodied acoustic sound, so for me, I will keep bringing in 2 guitars

Epiphone? That's you example of a great guitar that the Godin can't match the quality of? You need to wander around the acoustic section of a Guitar Center more than once per century. And for the record, no Epiphone can match the combined sound that this guitar gives when both pickups are engaged. And that's the real reason to own this. It has a unique voice that is unmatched by anything those clowns at Gibson have *ever* come up with.
