All these updated furnace videos are great, i learned half my service skills with furnaces from the old videos you had but these new ones are a level above, great job as always craig! Love what you do for our industry

Hi Craig What size fittings did you use for manometer tubes?

Hi, Craig. Is there a way to diagnose the modulating gas valve? There are videos about single and 2stage gas valve. But I can't find any modulating gas valve troubleshooting. Thanks

What is the transition fitting on the monometer tube, made from? Good idea.

Good video ! Thank you What if 24V to the gas valve is applied only for 1 or so second, Obviously no gas coming out and igniter is off in another 1-2 seconds. Wondering what does it mean ?

What did you use for your transition pieces?

I've seen my manometer fluctuate considerably with the brass cap on verses off while adjusting gas pressure. I'm not sure why this occurs.

Hi Craig, I'm a construction trades teacher in Northern Michigan. I'm looking for recommendations to teach my students the basic principles of residential HVAC. We build spec. houses with my students over two years. I try to teach every aspect of residential building and I'm looking to cover the basics with the limited time I have. My students work with the local HVAC company to install the furnace/ac, and ductwork for the spec house. I'm looking for classroom activities that I can use to reinforce the onsite installs. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

can galvanized pipes be used with LP?

Today I had a service problem. Checked gas pressure at the gas valve ,inlet was 7.5 w.c and when the rooftop fire up inlet pressure drops to 4.7/5.1 ( is this normal.?? ) and the outlet pressure is like 1.7 ,unit runs x 1 min and shut down. Gas valve is new .Gas company was a couple months back and replaced gas meter for bldg , before that unit was working fine.

Local jurisdictions and manufacturers' specific instructions usually dictate how PVC venting can be installed. One step glue/primer is often not allowed.

IPEX 636 literature says you have to use primer, local code says to follow whatever guideline has a higher threshold (eg if local code says zero clearance and manufacturer says 1” you follow manufacturer) For the other guy talking about primer i use clear in re&re and purple in new construction, but when i use clear i use enough to wipe out some of the lettering and have the lettering visible so i can show the gas inspector if necessary, however i have a good reputation with the local gas authority and they don’t usually inspect my work
