It’s fun to see the two of you together. Both have different styles and personalities. However at the end of the day the knowledge and professionalism comes across clearly in your deliveries. You can see that you guys love what you do. I have watched many of your videos over the years and never once thought that the information was not correct. Anyone who has made a video knows how much work goes into making them. It’s not easy as it looks. Thanks.Roger

Excellent informative video guys, from a service tech that remembers when noone had a recovery machine/ tanks, no one purged nitrogen while brazing, no used or where there micron guages, some people didn't even have a vacuum pump, just purged. The way you knew you had a vacuum was by sound of the pump. The days that some some idiots blasted liquid R-12 onto a case of beer to rapidly chill. "Beer can cold?? Even though there is a lot of nonsense in our trade today, I still love doing it for over 30 years now. Hey.. How do you recover that refrigerant charge in that TXV bulb?? Ha ha.. Thanks for the video. Very good explanation for beginners and nice to see such exists for old timers like me that originally learned from really old timers / father that was in the business ;)

Hey Craig! I have a question if you would be kind enough to answer.....In a single speed system with a txv, when the txv is constricting the potential flow to increase efficiency in the evaporator, does that raise the head pressure, reducing the efficiency in the compressor?

When the line set is long enough, cut it out after recovery. Its safer and in regard to the filter drier, you won't release the moisture back into the system by heating it.

I looked at an 5T Goodman install where the piston system an .083 on about a 75 ft lineset at about 17ft high, would run fine, but then the super heat would just start dropping from 11 to a 5. The system ran supposedly, but then started blowing the cooper tubing on the output side of the compressor. It would just explode the line off. Any ideas?

It’s time to replace my 34 year old Rheem. I know it has a piston at the evaporator coil. And all these other metering devices seem to have a lot of moving parts. I would love to get 30 years of the next one, but everything is made like crap today.

  • @Samlol23_drrich

If you ask me, the less electronics and moving parts the better. I’ll take my piston any day. Just need regular maintenance and gas check to make sure superheat is correct. That’s my two cents.

Did you read the manual ? Depending on manufacturer, line set sizes will vary by application. If outdoor unit is at or below indoor elevation, that size should be good but if your outdoor is above indoor elevation the line set size usually decreases in size to increase velocity so oil can make it back to compressor.
