Gary Neville proved he can become a modern journalist after that Qatar special! What he said about workers not being able to be adequately paid in a wealthy nation is true! Qatar has a much higher gdp per capita than the UK, but the migrant workers are getting paid laughably low wages.

The comparison between the UK and Qatar really isn’t important. Nothing you’re saying makes sense, the only thing you’ve said in this video that actually makes sense is Gary said it at the wrong time. Everything to do with his comparison is spot on. I don’t think he’s trying to convey that there’s no difference between workers rights in the UK and Qatar, and you’re acting like he’s pressed some untouchable morale button by making the comparison. The way the UK government treats people doing the hard work is terrible. YOU need to understand how wealthy of a country the UK is and where the money actually ends up.

There is no comparison as one is a democracy with human rights and equality laws and the other is a dictatorship under Sharia Law with limited civil rights and still practices capital punishment including public flogging. Gary Neville was just arrogantly trying to use the Whataboutism fallacy to justify himself being paid millions to work for Qatar state TV.

Gary is a hypocrite, wants to regain his reputation as the knight there for damsels in distress and is just using the NHS for his own agenda.

Union striker for public pay is not the same as Qatars treatment of migrant workers who work 12 hours a day on dismal pay and are given zero health protection.

The nurses constantly work 12 hour shifts and they have to be going to food banks so as to eat properly. Unfortunately, all the clapping you did during Covid can not help them or their families to survive. The current cost of living crisis in the UK is similar in many ways, low incomes, long working ours and criminal utility bills for the hardest workes yet the UK Government wants to justify giiving bankers bonuses . Try coming out of the fairytale you are in and see the World for what it is.

I think you hate his comments because they are about UK and not Qatar. But he is right.

It's a legit comparison. The govt is currently trying to ban protest and civil servants, which covers nurses and a whole range of other poorly paid professions, from being able to strike. In a democracy. Gary mentioned the Qatar regime many times, mainly on his role on bein sports though as it was Qatars own company. Seriously do some research if you're going to post stuff like this

I agree nurses and other public sector workers deserve pay rises but it’s still a complicated issue. We’re not a dictatorship government, theres a due process for situations like this, we live in a democracy. It’s not at all comparable to Qatars treatment of Migrant workers where they basically are slaves 12 hours a day with zero health protection. Gary used a way to attack the Conservative government and protecting his Bein Sports employees

@Football Is Life when a democratically elected government is removing basic rights, its exactly the same as a dictatorship. We are meant to be in charge, they are our servants. They are changing that balance and we're just watching them do it whilst our main media doesn't even cover it, so it's no surprise people don't see it as the huge issue it is. It is comparable to qatar, currently no its not as horrendous, but it's heading that way

No one is removing basic rights, the issue with unions and striking happens every 10 years or so and it’s been happening since the 1930’s. Unfortunately the Government can’t just simply rise pay whenever there is a strike, as harsh as that sound’s because then Unions will just keep striking for more pay all the time even if it isn’t warranted.
