His best consistency was during that period 1998-2004 both for club and country. In 2001 he was named best foreign player of Serie A ( much stronger league than EPL at that time ) , in 2002 he won the champion's league then got injured before the WC.. in 2003 he won La liga, in 2004 he was named the best European player of the last 50 years.. Henry shined in a weaker league at that time. but did nothing in Europe during that period and didn't do much of note in the French team ( tap-ins, goals in low importance games) . When Zidane was injured in the World Cup 2002, they lost miserably and Henry could never lift the team, was never a leader for the NT. After that when he wasn't there you wouldn't notice that much. The complete opposite for Zidane as when he wasn't there, the team could either not win or very rarely.

Then they got promoted in their debut season, then qualified for Europe the next season and won the league the year after that. And from that point on they've just been Bayern Munich the superclub. They won three European cups in a row, a bunch of league titles. Beckenbauer won two Ballon d'Ors. Muller set goalscoring records that only Messi was able to break. For me those two are as important to a club as any players have ever been. If they didn't both end up at Bayern then who knows where that club would be today.
