None of this 1-2 mine pauses between cycles. I'd buy one when my 806 dies and my Unimatic falls off the perch too.

    No the older version was actually slightly better- you could chose water level and other things. Maytag is def. inferior. Uses a plastic outer drum- attracts mold. SQ uses far superior metal coated with porcelain which is one reason that it is 30 lbs. heavier.

  • @jimm6386
    @jimm63864 жыл бұрын

    I have an older SQ from 2015 or thereabouts - I like the fact that they have mechanical/electrical controls and NOT completely digital controls. If you think for a moment about it, digital controls have contact points that are very susceptible to moisture and environment - these machines are in usually a very moist and alkaline environment (from the detergent that floats in the air - yes even liquid detergent gives off some molecules of itself ) those particles settle onto those contact points and over a relatively short period of time one gets shorts or something in the “control panel” goes arse-up. And then the trusting customer winds up with a $400.00 or more repair bill to replace that control panel. This is total drivel. There is nothing wrong with electrical/mechanical switches. And you have the added advantage of being able to control your machine better - like using the fill part of a WASH cycle on HOT or WARM to get a hot or warm rinse - those options do not exist on machines in general - or like just using the spin cycle to get water out of clothes rather than having to run a rinse and spin cycle of machines that are digitally controlled. With front loaders a spin only option is just not available. And even though the machine may say it’s going to take 18 minutes to rinse and spin, it can take a heck of a lot longer if the machine is even a little unbalanced. I’ve seen a Samsung take more than 55 minutes to do a rinse and spin from start to finish because of balancing “issues”. What a waste of energy (for those machines that advertise a Higher Efficiency standard). I’m happy with my SQ as it is and would never even consider anything new. Hopefully what I have will last until I’m dead. Although I’d never turn a Unimatic down if someone were to offer one to me!

    Just came back from my local store here in NorCal. Torn between the TC5 and TR5. Sounds like the TC5 can be trusted to wash better, as it's more aggressive, and for smaller loads, one could use the Normal(Eco) and the extra rinse, if need be to counter the spray rinse of normal eco cycle. But the ability to select load sizes on the TR5 is nice as well. What would you recommend? Does the TC5 simply blow the TR5 out of the water?

    One thing to remember is that when there are clothes in the machine, by the time that the spray rinse starts with the speed of the tub and water remaining, the water and soap is already being held PAST the clothing so when the spray rinse comes in, it is still removing suds and such, and only does it more as the drain pump out-powers the fill spout. On our machine, we were washing a blanket and the water was very sudsy during wash. Then during rinse, the water had zero suds at all, and was pretty clear during agitation. Though to be fair, the spray rinse on my machine is 50 seconds, where as this is 30.

    No problem with turnover, even with this very heavy load. Your little colored towels turned around many times I loss count. Great performing washer! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I have to mention an observation that I made the TR series will add water even in the rinse cycle if it goes down somewhat. If you noticed when the towels are dry, the water level drops as the towels absorb the water, the TR series will adjust for that and add a little water.

    A 3 min rinse agitation? I believe my 2017 only has a 2 min. That’s a nice perk! A 13 min wash and deep fill is nice and most of the time all you need. However, I really love my small load and delicates cycle combo. The small load allows things like stuffed animals to not just float to the top, instead stay at the bottom and get gently scrubbed by the lower agitator.

The stainless-steel tub in the washer is still "indexing" as the one in this vid is doing on the TC5 model. Is there a way to tighten-up the tub-brake to stop the wash-tub from "indexing" during the wash & rinse part of the cycle? Think you should get a better understanding how a transmission actually works.. the tub brake doesn’t actually hold the tub still in agitation mode as it is removed from the equation as the motor is turning in the opposite direction. The transmission mechanism is supposed to be locking the tub in agitation. If this was the sole job of the spin braking the spin brake wouldn’t last a month!! That brake is only active in spin mode.. these transmissions aren’t that great anymore and really never where!

    From what I read in my manual, and I’m talking about a 2016 model, the “average” load uses 20 gallons of water. Now, I’m not quite sure what the parameters are, but knowing corporations and their desire to always look better than they actually are, my guess is that number is calculated with a relatively low water level setting. I want to adjust the fill diaphragm in mine so that it’ll fill even more than it does now. It accommodates larger items with the extra water. I know this can be done - there are videos on KZread about it. You can also just hold the water level knob in the “reset” position after the fill happens and it’ll continue on filling until it reaches it’s max allowable level. I like electrical mechanical timers which mine has - you can override the cold rinse fills by stopping the machine mid-stream, turning the timer dial to “Wash” and set the water temperature to either warm or hot if you like, then after it fills, stop the timer and advance it to the rinse cycle.

    in 1954, my parents traded my Pop's '53 Plymouth for a Kelvinator refrigerator, a Frigidaire Pulse-a-Matic, a high-end double bed made of tiger-maple, a sofa, and an RCA Victor black-and-white TV with a 45 rpm changer turntable that played through the TV amplifier. Pop later swapped the washer for a Fedders air conditioner from Aunt Clara's estate: cousin Fred needed a washer and had central air in his house.

We've snaked the pipe about 10 feet in case there was a clog and we shot water down there with a hose and everything seems ok but as soon as water from the SQ unit enters the picture (at such HIGH speed and pressure from the rinse/spin cycle), the hose and pipe cannot tolerate it. Water everywhere. Plumber coming over tomorrow to figure out what the problem is from my one-day-old $1000.00+ washer. We've been working on it for 6 hours straight and can't figure it. Can you still return? I did a bunch of research and TC5 is far better- sorry. Did you noticed yours is 30lbs. lighter? I did. It uses a mold attracting plastic outer tub. SQ uses heavy metal coated with porcelain. I also spoke to a dealer today- he sells Maytag and verified, the Commercial is essentially the same machine as the 600 one except it has a black panel and nicer knobs. You overpaid for a longer warranty. The drum suspension is also a cheap, old suspension design. It will clean cloths fine but it is not going to last IMO. You get what you pay for I am afraid. Good luck.
