    This machine, along with the older models are a BEAST!! I bought one in 2014 to replace my wave force washer which was a pain of trouble. The first thing I did was test the suspension. I washed a good size bathroom rug in it, when it went into spin. I stopped the washer, balled the rug up in a ball and restarted it. The washer never vibrated one bit, and I swear it laughed at me and gave me the finger and said " is the best you can do to get me off balanced" I knew right there that I had a quality machine. We sold the house and moved to FL, had to leave it behind. :( In my current home, it came with a topload whirlshredder. Got sick of it and went with a Electrolux 617 series FL. I love it!!! No issues with it, no mold, no smells either. Bought it over the SQ fL due to it not having a internal heater. I'm a firm believer that hot water cleans whites.

    About two or three months ago I finally ditched the Whirlpool direct drive set from 1990 and replaced them with a pair of Speed Queen con op machines in my apartment building in Delray. The build quality is astonishing. It’s equal in every way to my Speed Queen front loading pair.

    I have one of this model and I like to use perm press for sheets and most everything else. I think it does an excellent job cleaning. I had a HE washer prior to this and it was terrible at cleaning and took twice as long to do a load.

    It's interesting the amount of soap you used, as most people dump a full cup in and even Speed Queen recommends using the small amount of maybe 2-3 tablespoons. They advised the residual soap that is left in the clothes even after rinsing could cause suds overflow when the water drains into the drain. Speed Queen says the small amount still cleans the clothing thoroughly ?? I purchased the TC5 about 10 months ago after much research and it really is the best washer I have ever owned and will probably outlast me. lol Speed Queen may cost a bit more, but they say it should last 25 years and I think that's money well spent. I love mine and almost look forward to doing laundry as its a breeze. ( I took the advice of Speed Queen and use about 3 tablespoons of detergent and it cleans perfect )

    I was surprised it did slow speed on washing - I would think it would do full speed on a bulky cycle. Anything really bulky would really need the Heavy cycle. Thanks for posting.

    I've been using one for a couple of weeks. It cleans my grimiest jeans, even in a full mixed load. The "NORMAL ECO" wash cycle is a bit less than a half-hour, and an extra rinse adds about ten minutes. Compare that to the LG this machine replaced, where between the repeated brim-full fills to balance the load and the pauses for whatever reason I have not figured after almost six years, takes a calendar to time the cycle. I would argue that this is the best value top-load washer on the market.

    My Speen Queen TC5 was delivered yesterday, And I finished my first LARGE load of wash...perfect! I'm just thrilled I can do this now - doing all the research on a DECENT washer, all signs were pointing to the SQ!. My old Cabrio ...ugh, past few years...especially the past 2-3 months this thing gave me stress & angina. (Never a fan of that when I picked that up in 2013! My fault, there were a mixed bag of good and bad reviews on that 10 years ago, but just fell for a good price back then) Anyway..good riddance to that thing!

    That Persil's been around for years. They just changed its name as it used to be called Whisk. I always load my detergent first, but I use old school Gain powdered detergent and I add the tri sodium phosphate to it to make it clean like detergent used to before they changed it to enzyme based detergent and it has really seemed to have helped on heavily soiled items like grass & dirt and even catsup.

    How does the conditioner dispenser work? I’m guessing that the liquid is flung to the side of the top of agitator at wash spin and falls out of the holes when stopped - as it only has 1 wash + 1 rinse and final spin, compared to our 🇬🇧 front loaders - that have 1 wash, 2 rinses, a final rinse with conditioner and spin - has conditioner compartment in drawer.

    Eugene: If there is so much difference in performance and quality between the SQ or Maytag COMMERCIAL (machines only available in appliance and furniture stores) and the big box store Maytags, Whirlpools, LGs, Samsungs, etc., what does that say about the cooking appliances sold by the two types of retail stores? I just bought a Bosch 800-series dishwasher because the Korean brands have less-than-stellar reliability records and the past several Whirlpool-group dishwashers I've had have turned up on recall lists and Whirlpool would only pay $75 toward a replacement, and then only toward the purchase of another Whirlpool product. I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel and have a Bosch oven, cooktop, and microwave-vent in the staging room awaiting the completion of the exterior wall reconstruction and cabinet and countertop installation.

    If that washer agitated at fast speed the air bubbles wouldn’t be a problem-no pushing by hand required.

  • @pdonahue4065
    @pdonahue40655 жыл бұрын

    When loading a washer, you are not supposed to wrap things around the agitator. You are suppose to evenly distribute the articles to be washed in the tub. If you had put one sheet on either side of machine, you would not have had the air problem and would not have had to stop to push it down. The top sheet was full of air before it even started to agitate! Most manuals explain how to load washer properly, or at least they used to. :) You may want to check manual for this machine and see what it says....

    The machines then were designed for a different era of detergents with higher sudsing property’s. It displaced excessively soapy water which did aid in rinsing and releasing solids In the wash tub by floating certain things away rather than them staying trapped in the machine with cleaned laundry- a draw back to a solid tub system. It’s main characteristics was durability of the machine. Those machines were also built at time when cloth diapers were the norm as well so you can guess what else could be floated away too. LOL LOL.. today it would be gross waste of water for sure!

    This version of this era of SQ has been produced and used in commercial operation for almost 40 years. I’d throw the dice to the Speed Queen sorry. The new Maytag is not anywhere near the robust Maytag machines they once were and could seriously be called a competitive to SQ. Whirlpool stuff to me is toy and not good for anything that your own home and that’s even stretching it! Just like kitchenaid stuff it was AWSOME when it was built by Hobart but over the years it’s lower quality overpriced junk!!

    It is hard to know how long those Maytags will last since they have not been around for long. The biggest weakness on them is the suspension, but other than that, it seems like Whirlpool really beefed up their standard modular washer design for the Maytag/Whirlpool commercial lines. It is easy to call the Speed Queen better now since this design has been around for 30+ years, but the Maytags could surprise us.

If the lid was locked on the above video, you likely would not have even known the clothes needed rearranging. Even after moving the clothes, I didn't notice much top to bottom movement. Just my opinion after watching a bunch of these videos of both washers.
