Wow you mean someone finally listened to what the people want??? unbelievable!!! Even though I have my TR5 set for one year as of matter of fact today and it served me very well, I still miss the old school agitator and will probably go back to a set like this sometime before the year is up!!! Welcome Back Speed Queen, Welcome Back!!! Thanks for the great video Kirk and Have a great day!!!

Does the old school agitator batter clothes too much, damaging them? I mean, what's the thinking behind the new 2018 design? You said the TR5 works well... Is their a trade off between cleaning effectiveness and being more gentle on clothes? And would the average consumer, with minimally soiled clothing, see much of a difference between the old and new models? In fact, the consumer might just benefit from a more gentle wash... I guess it depends on the scenario and need.

I never thought the day would come that I would say "don't buy a Speed Queen", but it did. Since then I have hoped that Speed Queen would go back to their old design, and sure enough they did. I could not be more thrilled to say yet again "you need to buy a Speed Queen". I definitely do think they should add a water level and mechanical timer. I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a warm rinse option and the countdown timer if they don't use a mechanical timer, other than that this machine is flawless and definitely what needs to be manufactured once again. You took me by wonderful surprise Speed Queen, awesome job.

SPEED QUEEN IS BACK!!!! This 2019 Speed Queen Washer is like the 2017 model. NOW, THAT’S MORE LIKE IT. I didn’t care for the 2018, but I’d buy a 2019. Welcome Back Speed Queen. -Charles- I did notice the tub indexing somewhat during the first moments of the rinse cycle, but not a biggie. But the spin-drain is back, and upon shut-off, they put back the spin brake as well. AND The residential front loaders are back as well (check the website to see for yourself). If I couldn’t get a Speed Queen front loader anymore , then I would get an LG. But now, Speed Queen makes residential front loaders as well as commercial ones. So I’m delighted about that as well. But I do notice the washer spins faster in the final spin than it does in the initial spin. Has anyone else notice that besides me? -Charles-

I’m conflicted though, because it’s kinda hard to choose between the Speed Queen and Maytag. The Maytag has a dual action agitator, and can even wash really poofy queen size, perhaps even king size comforters really well. Even if it’s overstuffed a bit, it tends to rollover no problem as Eugene’s video proves. With the Speed Queen I’m not sure, as it’s just a straight vane agitator. It doesn’t quite have as big of a tub as the Maytag either. But they’re both no doubt very well built.

Well, some have wanted me to comment, so here is mine! Right off the bat, awesome that SQ did this for residential use. It’s awesome that they brought back what simply works, and just washes your laundry! No auto temp control too! For those who want to say, “Gah, old technology!” Cut the crap. It’s technology that has shown over decades that it just works and does what it is supposed to. And, any attempts to “update” it has just resulted in poor washing and more unreliability. For some cons though. I am not a fan of control panels that don’t give you a timer, or a time remaining display. It is so stupid for a machine to not tell you how far along it is, or how much time is left. This is not exclusive to SQ, this goes back to the videos I made about Whirlpool’s belt drives in 2011. The spray rinse was brought to 30 seconds from 50 seconds (though, that's nothing serious, more of just a pet peeve of mine). The fact that it seems there are only two water levels, and there is no specific knob for that. That makes no sense to me. Two water levels are way too few of a selection. Some like to say it’s the regulations, but then why would they even give an option to fill it all the way then? But at least they make the option clearer than the “commercial” Maytag. Overall, it does lack some features that made the 432, 8 series, and 9 series stand out. But it will definitely wash much better again. Fantastic video, Kirk.

Here is my 2018 speed queen story. And it's a long one, too. - - I have been known to BASH on the 2018 speed queens. When I first saw the 2018 machines, I genuinely swore I would never ever even CONSIDER buying one. However, in recent months, my opinion has changed. After watching many videos from Kirk Rivas on the machine, I began to like how it washed. There isn't much turnover, I can agree with that, but there WAS strong water currents. I didn't find this action very impressive, but I was starting to have a little bit of hope in the machine, though I still stood by my claim that I wouldn't ever buy one. - - Then, the day I was waiting for (or dreading, one of the two) came. I finally got to see, and use, a 2018 Speed Queen, at a vacation rental. (A TR5, before the 2019 iteration.) And I had a perfect stress test for it. My cousins had been playing in the mud for a while, and had gotten dried up mud stains all over their clothes. (I even had some on mine. Point is our clothes were disgusting...) This was going to be the moment I decided whether I would ever look at this machine again. So, I ran it. Heavy duty, auto fill, warm wash, extra rinse, 2 pods. And to my utter surprise, it came out pretty good! Were they completely gone? Of course not, no machine can get EVERYTHING OUT in one go. But I cannot lie I was quite impressed by this... - - Is there any world where this has better action than the 2017? No, I think not. But I have to admit the 2018 speed queen impressed me. I won't ever forget the shady things they did to Lorain furniture (blacklisting him), and initially resisting criticism, but i came away happy with the machine. I cannot lie. I will be recommending this machine, especially because the build quality simply cannot be beat. Even if you don't agree it cleans, you can't argue that the build quality is second to none... But now that the TC5 is a thing, I'm torn on what to get. I really liked the tr5 and I really don't know if I want to get a tc5 or tr5 for the vacation home.... Wash action on the tr5 really grew on me... And I like the increased spin... So I honestly don't know what to do here! This has split my brain into two sides. And I don't know what to listen to...

Am I dreaming? Someone actually realized the mistake they made? Speed queen brought back the old school, high reliability, high washability, no nonsense, TRIED AND TRUE design? This is a very very rare huge step forward, new consumers can get real quality once again. Granted, the control system on this one is kind of hard to work with. I do wish they completely just dropped the 2018 control system and brought back the old 432, 542, 8 and 9 series style controls. The fully mechanical analog timers or easier to read electronic control panels were much more reliable than these cycle selectors. It also is kind of dumb they have so few water level selections, I think something like an infinite water level would still work good, but I wonder what maytag commercial inspired that design. And a big plus for 2017 and before speed queen owners is now there is a brand new influx of parts to repair their speed queens, even though they barely fail, high quality. I'm not a speed queen owner, I have a 2006 whirlpool direct drive that's running on all original parts, but if the day ever comes the machine can't be fixed, assuming speed queen doesn't screw up again, I have a good backup. If only other manufacturers could do the same, but with no icky auto temperature control, load sensing, error codes, or rebalancing involved.

they prob use too much water...however, those other ridiculous machine do not use enough and you have to wash everything twice...and the electricity to push thru an extra long load plus extra rinsing or extra washing far exceeds the cost in water. At least in my Cabrio it does...I have waited for 5 yrs for it to die...and no I finally get to buy the Speed Queen.

Great video. I bought this machine, received it last week, and it's awesome. I'm so thrilled with it, and so happy to be rid of my 1.5 year old top loader Maytag Bravos. The Speed Queen cleans like nobody's business, and I'm blown away with the results. It should be noted I have a husband and 2 sons in the construction business that come home with very dirty clothes, and this Speed Queen TC 5 cleans them beautifully. As far as my delicates, it cleans them gently and effectively. Old school performance and perfection!

If he does a Dirty Jeans Test in there though, he should run the Washer on the Heavy Duty Cycle with some Soap in there & with the Options on Warm Wash Temperature, Extra Rinse & Presoak, & with Deep Fill turned on. He should also do one like that on the same Settings with the Option on Heavy Soil, as there’s a Heavy Soil Option on there after “Extra Rinse & Presoak”.

My TC5 only deep filled to a bit below the top set of holes. Would someone please tell me, should it come up at least even with the top holes? Also, is there any way to defeat the fact the machine stops filling if you open it? My installer reached in and held something down which kept the water flowing while I opened the lid so I could take a look and see if my hoses were filling it with enough water volume. But I'd like to watch it fill on my own. Any way I can do this?

I may need to recheck the drain hose, If may start as rubber at the bottom and change to plastic when it connects to the drain pipe. The coin operated machines have the complete rubber drain hose among other slight differences. The rubber hose can withstand more abuse.

I was wanting to know the same thing. Lysol laundry sanitizer instructs to leave their product in the rinse cycle for 16 minutes. With my old school mechanical washer, I simply pushed the timer dial in to turn it off, wait the extra minutes, then turn it back on and it continued as if it never stopped. Simple and easy. Not sure how those of us working in the medical field are supposed to do our part in combating covid so not to spread it to the rest of our family if not able to fully disinfect our clothes with this machine. Unless the pause feature is indefinite, but it would be nice to know before spending over a grand for this machine.

This looks to be an adaptation to the previous commercial mechanical controlled non coin operated sold as commercial machines to the commercial market.. no infinite water control here that would damage the transmission because you just can’t do that with an induction motor and transmission drive. You will pay through the nose for this unit. The TR series is still being made and sold to the home market! So why everybody is rejoicing is beyond me because these never actually went away folks. 👍👍

Just watched the Video & I can see that they switched back to the Direct Drive instead of the Belt Drive, where on the Belt Drive, the Agitator is 1 whole piece with the Drum, as only the Drum would be doing the Wash/Rinse Strokes. I can also see that they took out the Load Size Selection, as it’s now Auto Sense only, but for Extra Large Loads to select the Deep Fill Option that it at least has on there. Same type of Control Panel though with selecting the Cycle, then pushing the Start/Pause Button, where the Status Light comes on to which Cycle it’s on. Also, from what you said at the end of this Video, you should, to me, do a Video with running the Washer on the Spin Cycle with Extra Rinse turned on to see if it’ll preform a Spray Rinse before Spin & if it doesn’t preform a Spray Rinse that way, then you should try holding the Start/Pause Button for more than 10 seconds to see if it’ll preform the Rinse & Spin Cycle, like you did, when you found a way to do that back on the Speed Queen Washer TR3000WN. Speed Queen Washer TR3000WN Rinse & Spin Cycle Force: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHuErcefj5Suh8o.html I know you haven’t done any Wash Race Videos yet, but you should do one with this Washer Vs. the 3 others that are Belt Drive, TR3000WN, TR5000WN, & TR7000WN, as it’d be nice to especially see a Comparison between the 4 Speed Queen Washers together, especially for the people here on KZread to see which Speed Queen Washer would be better for them, in their Opinion & stuff. Also, this Washer in the way that it runs kinda reminds me of this Maytag Washer MVWC6ESWW to how it runs, as you’ve done some Videos of that Maytag Washer at kzread.info/dash/bejne/maFtr9CvqJzak7Q.html, kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6OWk9aLecjfdNI.html, & kzread.info/dash/bejne/lq1-yZh6irTee6w.html.
