This workout is perfect for your fitness-minded Pilates participants. It’s a complete workout. Some of the exercises are Traditional Reformer exercises, but many are variations that I really love (and hope you'll like as well). The exercises are mostly intermediate, with some beginner and a few advanced. Remember that not all exercises are for all people, so be sure to pick the exercises that are right for your body. This workout is for trained Pilates Professionals. I highly recommend working, in person, with an instructor if you're not a trained professional. The springs are suggested and may need to be changed depending on the client’s strengths and goals and the manufacturer your using.

I'm so glad I found John Garey on youtube! I'll be honest; I'm not a fan of most of the female led, pilates reformer classes online. The focus is mainly on the "booty" and the reformer gets turned into a TRX machine. John stays within the confines of the classic pilates but he revs it up a few notches by "twists" and "turns" the body makes in order to maximize the sculpting of the torso which I love. I'll definitely be taking more of this classes every other day from now on.

John, I'm always in awe of your content and even more, your rapport with us, even though we're separated electronically. That's so difficult to do and you shine. Like you, I have a very heavy strength and conditioning background (was the first female powerlifter at the U.S. Naval Academy) and transitioned from group fitness to pilates (thru Stott), which is my primary focus. When I saw that you were a master trainer for Stott, it all made sense. I had seen an evolution in Stott's programming from traditional mat/reformer to strength/conditioning (and more) incorporating the essence of pilates and it all made sense after I realized you were an influence! I'm always grateful when I get to learn from you. I saw your article mentioning your USMC dad and how he influenced your fitness outlook; I bet he's beaming with pride, be he here in the physical with us or in the spriritual realm. BTW, would you believe I still have a VHS from about a hundred years ago with you and Pat Wade when I was learning how teach high/low aerobics?! And here I am 25 years later watching your pilates videos! Thanks for all you do - you've made a difference!

Hi John! Luv, luv, luv your workouts! A favor...I'm a year out from total knee replacement and looking at getting the other one replaced soon😱. I'm back on my reformer but obviously I can't ( nor should I)position like I use to. So many videos and instructors never address those who have had TKR or THR with adaptations. It wouldn't take long to mention these dos and don'ts and would keep this population (which unfortunately is getting larger) able to keep up their pilates practice and be safe. Thanks for listening!

Very thorough (especially when it comes to adjusting equipment between exercises) but keeps the pace up. This was a great start to my day this morning. Thanks!

Loved the workout !! The one part I struggle with is using the strap on my feet. Its so loose that I can't use it for resistance. I see your heels are at the base of the platform. Mine float in the air. Is there something I am doing wrong? I use the SPX reformer. Thanks :)

Pinky, if you go to the Merrithew store, you'll see different reformers. You might want to look at the "At Home" reformers. I have the SPX version and added an extra set of casters and put PVC cups on the wall to hold it in place in the vertical position. Without these additions, I wasn't able to move the reformer from on the floor to a vertical storage position even though it's advertised for vertical storage as-is. If you end up buying one and need idea, please let me know and I'll send you pics of my modifications. The SPX version will also accommodate other reformer attachments (like the trampoline) that Stott sells. I highly recommend investing in the long box and platform extender because you'll have a lot more versatility. Stott also sells the maple pole John uses in the video. I teach in a studio and to a lesser degree, in my home, but use the reformer a lot for personal use. It was well worth the investment.

Oh, one more thing - if you're not mat or reformer certified, I highly recommend that you take some classes at a studio to 1) see if you enjoy the reformer and 2) get qualified instruction before becoming your own trainer. There are quite a few safety and positioning considerations that will ensure you get not only an effective workout, but a safe one too.

I used to love this workout but now with the adds popping up all the time I don't enjoy it anymore. Can you please have the adds at the beginning only as it totally ruins the flow of this wonderful workout having them pop up in the middle of an exercise. Instead of feeling good during the routine I end up feeling totally frustrated. I haven't tried any of your other longer workouts in the last couple of months but I guess they too will have these frustrating adds. Please please remove them from the content. Thank you
