    You are one of the best camera reviewer in youtube, maybe the best. Highly informative, not too fast - not too slow, lots of screen shots/images which are always welcome. The worst are those reviewers where we only see their faces speaking to the camera,. but you are the opposite. Please keep up the good work!

    Thanks for a truly extensive, detailed hands on review. Personally I find it overwhelming the amount of digital technology that's packed into cameras today. I feel like you need an engineering degree to work a camera such as this one. I want to spend my time and energy composing and capturing compelling visuals and not be overcome by menus. Watching this video I did find it informative, maybe too much so. It made me long for the simple days when I use to lug around a Linhof 4X5 view camera in a wooden box with Schneider lenses and used Kodak 400 ASA B&W sheet film for night photography.

    Hello Maarten, I enjoyed your video and thank you for the time you spent putting it together. Followed your setup with my just purchased GFXr but was wondering if you could explain the logic behind the 3 different auto iso setups and when or why you would use one over the others. Thanks again for your time doing this great review...

    This is by far the best description video I have seen, making it even more reasonable to afford the GFX50R in the near future. Using the XPRO2 and XT2 as well, together with Nikon D800E, I came much closer to change the Nikon to Fuji, keeping my 24mm tilt/shift lense. Thanks a lot for the hint of the 24x36 hint.

    I think this was the most informative review yet, thanks for doing it this way. I was curious about adapting lenses (35mm) but wanted to know how much of the larger than full frame sensor would be used, apparently 30 mp's. What i would really like to see is someone make an L mount rangefinder camera that dedicates ALL the battery life to recording an image but a mechanical shutter advance (thumb lever), truly retro IMO. The gfx is an amazing camera to be sure, I'm just not sure it's for me. It does seem to hold it's value better than any other used camera I've ever seen.

    Hello, Fuiji GFX-50R what is the Difference between Depth of Field and a Ranger Finder ? or is the Fuijifilm GFX-50R a Range Finder Style by way of the Eye Piece. What is the Manual way to Set this Camera for Full Focus for Example. Thank You.

  • @MaartenHeilbron

    @MaartenHeilbron

    3 жыл бұрын

    Depth of field refers to the amount of the image that is in focus - for example when the focus distance is set at 2m, the depth of field may be 1m, which means that everything .5m in front of the focus point and .5m behind is in focus. Range finder refers to an optical viewfinder which does not look through the lens. This camera is rangefinder style because the electronic viewfinder isn't positioned directly over the lens. To set focus manually, there are several aids, including an expanded view, to help.

    @MaartenHeilbron

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the kind words. As this is the first medium format camera I've reviewed, I have no basis to compare it to others. The format has a future as long as manufacturers can produce them at a price that sustains the interest from photographers. As the processes to manufacture the sensors improves and costs come down, I expect that more manufacturers will see this as an interesting format to pursue sales. Fujifilm is the first mainstream consumer manufacturer to jump in, I expect that others will follow. It's interesting to note that the size of the z-mount is likely enough to accommodate a medium format sensor. What were they thinking?

    Hello, this is a dream camera, but I notice something into menuc which makes me "angry". Here you can have the L iso value for the autoISO while on x-h1 you can only start from 200, under bright sun sometimes it means the camera use ES with fast lens.. also on X-T3 you can return into menu in the last setting voice you've used, on x-h1 you cannot do. Even a toggle to engage/disengage eye-af like on Sony... Menu seems Identical through various Fuji models, I don't know why they don't make any camera on par, Fuji is famous for their firmware udpate, but in this case they remind me Nikon: you have 100% zoom playback button on d750, but on D610 you can't have it, maybe a little and stupid thing but.. c'mon! it's just a menu function. Hope to see this GFX50 addition also to X-h1 future updates (if they'll appear again)

    @@MaartenHeilbron well..xh1 camera has L settings, why can be put into auto iso value list instead of starting 200? On Xt3 after last updates you can enter in the menu on last settings selection, on xh1 not. Something can be solved via a simple firmware update, not a sensor size factor in this request. Just old cameras are left behind also in this case, sadly.. (where fuji is famous for its fw updates) 😬 Quite disappointed after entering Fuji world, is a story I've already seen on the other brand, more easy to address with if from the inside now. This put end to me for the "Kaizen update magic factor" everybody talkin about 👍

    Thank you for the review. As usual, this is just delivered without any bias. Providing measured simple facts with some initial user thoughts from someone who has had hands-on probably more cameras than many will own in a lifetime. I bought this camera when Fuji were doing amazing deals in January. This camera really is designed with one goal in mind. Ultimate image quality. It is not a sports/fast "action" camera and neither is it really for any serious video (although for a bit of HD it will do the job). Fuji has brought MF in reach of more people. Yes, you still have to have a decent budget, but that would hold true if you were looking at buying the Nikon Z7 or the Canon R or Panasonic S1 plus the dedicated (and expensive) lenses. But on a £/$ for £/$ basis this camera will hold it's own. Yes, not an 'all rounder' as those mDSLRs (aka better video). But as I say that is not why one would look at buying this MF camera. I married this with an XT3 so for me (and its always about personal choice), I have the camera kit that will do what I want and enable me to get what I want from my photography (and video -XT3), for many years to come.

    Maybe. I shoot two X-Pro 2’s professionally and you’re right about the Fuji look but that’s part lens, part sensor and part color. When I shot with the GFX 50s the color was without doubt Fuji but since we don’t have a MF Fuji with X-Trans it’s hard to compare the impact a MF X-Trans would have.

  • @jgranseth

    @jgranseth

    Fujifilm has stated that there are no real benefits of using X-trans with a sensor of this resolution, and that the negatives of the X-Trans design outweigh any benefits. I can assure you, however, that the GFX series offers plenty of the "Fuji look". The GFX cameras easily beats anything the X-series has to offer in regards to image quality.

Forgot to mention the macro shots are done with the Sony A6300 and a macro lens. My hybrid of choice, at the moment, is the Fujifilm X-H1.
