ooooh that Belt of Venus light was kinda creepy and alien which is right up my alley.
I love the handheld intimate shots at the beginning. But for the limestone stacks, I wish you'd shot a panorama. A line of white mounds with the Belt of Venus above and a minimal foreground might have worked pretty well. Just my opinion. If I ever get to Egypt, I'll have to give this area a look-see. Thanks for mentioning the tour company.
Awesome place Very peaceful I hope you rested
Love the handheld shots. Almost look like they were taken with a drone.

I agree! They almost have the illusion of being much larger than they actually are.

Thanks a lot. I got so lost in my photography when shooting those hand held shots. I could have walked around for hours.

Robert, I posted the same comment ...only 13hours too late😆
Interesting location. Personally I would have also shot some images with less foreground, the mysterious white mounds on their own with interesting skies could have been worth a go! Cheers.

Agreed. Not sure I liked the square crops so much either. One of those places that is stunning but incredibly hard to compose.

Yeah, I would have liked more time. It's never good to only have one short visit to a location.

Yes - I think I would have gone closer in to the white rock formations with less foreground. Having photographed many locations squeezed in on business trips around the world, I know how difficult it is when you have such a short time available - but I feel that you didn't make as much of the stunning landscape as you could have done. Not a great fan of the detail limestone/sand shots tbh - sorry. Not a place I have ever heard of so will read up on the place and, you never know, might get to visit one day.
I love this photography
Beautiful video Tom. And, as always, sincerely honest. I imagine you feel a lot of pressure on every video to get the great shots but remember, that the majority of people who follow you do so, not only for the photography, but also for the reality that you bring. Keep on keeping on :-)
You could fill a whole book with these handheld images and i wouldn't get bored at all!
Such an amazing location. There is nothing like the simplistic minimalism that comes with shooting in the desert.
Thomas, wonderful surprise to suddenly see you in such a different and fabulous location. Looks like a fab trip and its going on my list . It just shows you that even when your brain is half shut down through tiredness your 10,000 hours of experience and muscle memory keeps enough creativity to produce some cracking images. I think I would have lain in the tent moaning and demanding coffee....
Tom as someone from the desert myself I was so quite ready to dismiss your trial of coming out with anything worth while from a brit guy who didn't spend anytime near the sands but I was immediately impressed and quite touched from the get go by these top shots that I honestly thought you've taken them with a drone only to find out no you actually can understand and appreciate a beautiful sand when you glance them . kudos tom glad to see you in our part of the world please keep Saudi Arabia in your future trip plan as we can easily compete with Egypt when it comes to beautiful deserts , research Alula
Looks like a perfect spot for night photography, no light pollution.
Loving the light of the cupcake shot.
Was overjoyed to see you in this location…10 years ago I visited it having had enough of the pollution in Cairo…the hospitality offered by the Bedouins and the conversations with the driver (first criteria be an excellent mechanic because if your 4x4 breaks down out there…) gave a huge insight into a compelling alternative to our ‘sophisticated’ western style of living. Great food, otherworldly landscapes, huge dunes and that sculpted whiteness. I found it hugely inspiring…especially sleeping under the stars with no light pollution and a desert fox coming to eat the scraps after dinner. I must admit I slept well in the open under a pile of camel hairs blankets. Sorry you had a bad night….but happy you have highlighted this place as a photographers dream location…Egypt’s tourism needs this kind of help. Bravo!
I have been in Egypt for 8 years and have yet to visit the White Desert but after seeing this I am now motivated. Will try to go before the blistering heat begins in about a month. Thanks for sharing.
Wow - what a place! My favourite image was the cupcake one - the last one on the afternoon/evening shoot. The muted light and the colours in the sky really appealed to me.
What a fascinating place. Thanks, Thomas!
It's amazing how much that limestone looks like snow. Living in Michigan, it took my mind a while to wrap around the fact that it WASN'T snow. So much beauty! Our favorite photo conditions are just before sunrise and just after sunset. It's amazing how many people take off the second the sun sets and they have no idea that the show is just about to begin.
What a fascinating location. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Really like the sunrise photo. Those diagonals going into the distance and the pastel colours are magic.
Well done, Thomas. Always a pleasure watching your videos.
What an amazing location. Loved the hand held shots - the textures in the sand and limestone. Great images.
Glad to see you out traveling again.
Have a great trip, you more than deserve it!
Excellent What a place
The rippled sand next to the limestone all float my boat, particularly the one that looks to me like the neck of a bird looking over the sand. Stunning! Thanks for sharing this bizarre but beautiful landscape!
What a cool adventure!
What a gorgeous place. Thanks for taking us along.
Amazing location, really liked the opening images of the sand and limestone, the cupcake image was awesome too, thanks for sharing.
Well what a surprise Tom, firstly that you have finally left the UK, but mostly The White Desert ! I've never seen any shots taken there before, or seen it in a Star Wars movie or similar ! What an incredible find, I hope you return soon !
if you're ever back in the MENA region and find yourself wanting to shoot in Wadi Rum, Jordan, I'd be glad to show you around!
What an usual looking landscape
Stunning photo session. Your favorite image does evoke great expression.
Stunning shots and location. It almost looks like snow on the sand taken from a drone. Amazing as always the way you come up with gorgeous photographs that are so simple (minimalist).
Some great abstract shots Tom.
Magical place. Beautiful images.
The cupcake one! 🧁
Absolutely amazing place
Well done Tom, your B-roll is so 🤌🏼 I love how a lot of it could be images all on their own. I appreciate the work you put into your art. Also stellar location!!! Hope you had a blast

That's very kind, thank you.
The handheld shots at the beginning were so unique. I couldn’t tell which layer was on top of which…which was wind blown and which was solid. Very, very interesting! 👍
Such a fascinating location that is worth a return visit. I love that no matter where you are, a food reference is never out of the question 😊.
Tom those handheld shots were awesome !! Looked like aerial shots !! Fantastic !! What a location for a playground !! The dawn shot far outweighed your lack of enthusiasm!! Loved this one mate !!
Only ever seen one other video from here so was good to see your take on it Thomas. Loved the abstract images and your last image of the evening with the Belt of Venus was great too
Those handheld images are portfolio worthy in my opinion--Especially that one at 2:33 (which looks like a wave) and 2:30 (just amazing layers). I love the way that the images seem like ariel shots of beach scenes at first glance, but then the intricate detail of the sand is revealed upon closer inspection
Great photos, Thomas. I really like the evening shots with those lavender skies👍
Loved it, great to see you in an exotic location. The colour palette with the pink sky and white desert formations was lovely.
Loved the ice cream cone photo with the Belt of Venus.
I appreciate you and your videos
Amazing location! Remember visiting and vlogging this location in 2019. Great place for Landscape Photogaphy for sure!
Oh thank god. Wasn’t another Nairobi desert KZread video or workshop. Thanks for always being original Thomas. Love your work.
What a beautiful landscape. The first shots really look like drone shots made high up in the sky. Awesome video!
I absolutely adored the handheld shots, they are incredibly surreal!
I like your cup cakes best but love all the square crops too. An amazing area that I wasn’t aware of.
Aaaah, a few minutes of wonderful distraction from the world outside. Thanks man, beautiful images!
What an incredible location! Glad you got a chance to explore it!
as some people comments Your Handheld shot are the one that I love the most.
Those hand held photo look like the art piece in the art gallery The photo are all so white, pure, peace and calm looking Love it and good job
My favourite image is the one where the white limestone looks like a wave - very cool! The one with three layers - sand, white, shadow - was also good
Wonderful shots, thanks for shaking it up and going somewhere new!
Loved the last image! For me it shows that photography is in your dna. It’s nice to see (in a good way) that even great photographers have self doubt sometimes. Never heard of this beautiful place, so thank you for introducing me to it!
Wow, wow. What a place. Loved the ground shots and the cupcakes with the earth shadow. On my bucket list. Thank you for taking us there.
What an amazing place and that light 🥰
In the film Dances With Wolves, one of the characters, Old Lodge Skins, has one of my favorite quotes I often use for my photographic images; "Sometimes the magic works and sometimes it doesn't"
I love the shot of the sand wave...very nicely spotted. Looks like an incredible place.
It is not often that I see a location that I have never seen before but this is one, well done for finding it. Some lovely images in there but as I watched your piece to camera at 12:45 I saw what looked like a great composition with the ripples in the foreground and the structures in the distance. Surprised you didn't give it a try. Thanks for the video.

all i saw was his open zipper, lol
What intrigues me most about your opening handheld shots is the absence of anything that gives a sense of scale - we could be metres or kilometres above alien scenery, with little or no familiar frame of reference. My favourite kind of abstract image.
So refreshing to see something completely different. Thank you 👏
Never knew there were white sands there. What a unique location. Those Bedouins put on a feast. Thanks for sharing the trip.
Absolutely wonderful desert photography
it's so cool that you can just pop over to Egypt
This first group of images is spectacular. They look like they could have been shot from the sky, overlooking grand terrain; yet, we know and see that they have been captured handheld from about four feet above the surface of the subject.
Those first shots look like they where taken at 40,000 ft, the cupcake expedition , love it
Really like those initial shots T. Reminiscent of some fantastic down facing drone images with just a little added detail.
That final image is excellent, Thomas. That food looked pretty darn tasty as well.
What a place. You looked like you were on a film set!
Your favorite image was my favorite as well.
Thanks for relaxing episode again. (thanks for Egypt tourism :) )
Different place…melting cones is a good way to described. Never thought would be Egypt! Nicely done…Cheers..
amazing landscape !!
Thank you. 👍📷😎
Great Video Thomas, thanks for sharing!
Would have liked to have seen that sunrise shot in a 16x9 crop, the sunset shot at 8.15 was brilliant as I love those colours of the Belt of Venus. Great experience to shoot that beautiful place, thanks for sharing Thomas. 🙌👏👏
Some amazing shots there! Fantastic Thomas!
Really liked those shot at the beginning, almost Alps meets Sahara! Very cool!
Thomas traveling?…,.Yeah!😁. I really like all of the shots, but I particularly love the cupcakes (great description by the way). The beautiful and delightful cupcake shapes with that gorgeous sky is a perfect combination of happiness and relaxation. That particular shot left me wanting to stop and stare at it, taking in how interesting, lovely and calming it is. For me, it is a definite large print wall shot. I was sorry to hear you say that you could not sleep that would certainly affect your photography, but you still got a wonderful shot.
I think my favorite composition was at 10:13 in your video. Beautiful shot of you walking towards the Obelisks. Maybe it's the cinematographer in me that likes something moving in the image. It is amazing that you are doing 2 jobs at once. Setting up shots for the videos and shooting the stills. Amazing work. Thank you.
First I've ever seen of this place, intriguing. 👍 🥂
amazing work as always, Thomas 😍
Tom, in the image 2:44 into your video you have a happy face smiling at you.
2:06 Literally thought it was drone shots! 👌💯
Never seen this place before but it looks stunningly beautiful. It is true that the closer you get to the equator the shorter the glolden/blue hour becomes. Although I love the abstracts my favourite is the cupcake with magenta sky! Thanks for your truthful and inspiring videos and don't worry about not finding a composition!
As usual, incredible video Tom. Thank you for this
As usual a really interesting episode. Re: the speed of the setting sun. As you get closer to the equator the faster it sets/less dusk time. Around Alice Springs I work on 3 minutes from start to finish of the "pop" period. In the Kimberley about 2 minutes
I loved this video Thomas, what a surprise. It brought back some great memories for me as I've camped several times in the White Desert over the past 25 years. It's light is like nowhere else on Earth. Back in the day we didn't have such mod cons as tents, so we could lie and watch the ten billion glittering stars all night. Definately not the easiest place to photograph though. Thank you for sharing this.
At first I thought it was snow mixed with the sand. But wow that place is so cool and interesting. The image at 8:17 is amazing!
This is incredible, and I am very lucky to have caught this. This is a side of Egypt few will think of. Thank You for such a beautiful video photo experience Thomas!
Beautiful location & stunning images. 🙏🍻
Thanks for sharing - This is certainly a super location - I visited back in 2010. With the fast changing and frankly amazing crepuscular light, simply choosing images amongst the profusion of opportunities can be daunting. Glad you got some keepers!
Fantastic photos as usual, some of those handheld shots of the ground were so cool. you couldn't tell if you were looking at snow capped peaks of just the ground in front of you, amazing
This video will definitely bring more tourists to Egypt... Great video Thomas...Beautiful shots...
