From 2010: Wes Moore, and "The Other Wes Moore"
In November 2022 Baltimore native Wes Moore, a Rhodes scholar, Army officer and White House Fellow, became the first Black person to be elected Governor of Maryland. But his life story, as told in his bestselling 2010 book "The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates," could not have been more different from that of another Baltimore man, also named Wes Moore, whose fate was to be imprisoned for life for murder. Correspondent Russ Mitchell talks with both Wes Moores in this "CBS Sunday Morning" report that originally aired May 2, 2010.

Great throwback interview. Especially with Charles Osgood. I miss him on Sunday Morning, but the memories of him on the show, as well as vintage reporting/stories, are missed, too.
What a beautiful story. 🥰 congratulations to Mr. Moore and his wonderful family for his election to governor of Maryland. 🎉✨🥇🥇
It’s both beautiful and sad story at the same time
Damn I Remember this many years ago crazy he is the governor now
Great reporting. Heartbreakingly beautiful tale of two lives.
If anyone has the opportunity check out his book, it goes into detail of everything here.
Thank you for sharing this story...
Edited to Add: Thank you for updating the disruption. @CBSSundayMorning - Could you edit the video description to correctly read "first Black person to be elected Governor of Maryland" instead of "first Black to be elected Governor of Maryland" ?

That crime happened in my hometown. I remember when the officers body went through town after the service.
He speaks so cavalierly about this
I remember reading this book.
The benefit of a private education. That is the major environmental difference here and a good argument for school choice.
More??? .. please sir I want some more 🤔🤯🧠💨
I like what he said about how he thought that everything was supposed to come at light speed and didn't have the insight to see that he needed patience and time to create a better life the honest way
Well Done You Have Made your Family Proud And Yr Extended Family The World Over.Much Love from The Caribbean 🥰

I loved the book; why didn’t you like it?
When are you going to take Washington off the Maryland map.where are our car plants, steel mills, and chip factories. Ohio got them, Michigan got them, and north and south Carolina got them. Stop the tv interviews and get to work
