Wes Moore - The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates

Wes Moore, combat veteran and former White House Fellow discusses his book, "The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates," presented by Harvard Book Store. In 2000 in Baltimore, Wes Moore, a Rhodes Scholar, read a newspaper article about another Wes Moore -- one who had been charged with murder and robbery. Despite their similar upbringing, the two men took very different paths in life. Moore started corresponding with the other, imprisoned Wes Moore and relates a tale of how choices can lead to astonishingly different destinies. Moore also discusses resources for at-risk youth. For all the people who don't understand the story about this book: (I have read and annotated "The Other Wes Moore" several times, therefore, I consider myself an expert lol...) So, this story is about two boys, go through a very difficult, but very related childhood, and then bloom to become two different adults, one going the good way, the other going the bad way. Now, the author, Wes Moore, is a diligent, young, and still young man who went the right way, the other Wes Moore, who went the wrong way. These two men had very related childhoods, as said. Meaning, they experienced pretty much the exact same things; They had lost there fathers at young age's, had got into drugs, had lots of school absence's, etc.. The story talks about how not only both of these men suffered at young ages, but how their destiny was more and more unable to be in their hands, as someone else had to choose for them, in more broad terms. The book includes experiences both men have suffered through, some good and some bad. This book is definitely worth reading, so give it a shot!

There is more than one approach to helping the community. Whether you are for or against the War abroad, he is obviously trying to address wars on communities here in the U.S.. There are people who work on Walstreet who focus only on self enrichment and power so I applaud him for trying to do something positive with his gifts.
