Loads of people try to emulate what you do and don't reach the level you have. I think it helps that you're a genuine guy who doesn't care about the latest gear - he just wants to be out somewhere. You remind me very much of my father, just with a lot more hair :)

An excellent watch on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. I love your enthusiasm for angling and the fact that you enjoy every fish caught.. Keep making the videos, they are much appreciated.

Hi Ya Never heard of this place before, some nice fish on the bank, well done Steve. I know its a big place but it seems very quiet there for what is really a general day ticket fishery. Thanks for the invite to Frisby Lakes.

The increase in activity during early spring is a reaction to both increased sunlight hours and the resulting temperature increase. The vast majority of water life is cold blooded so they rely on ambient temperature to allow them to function, if its too cold they simply go into a dormant state. The invertebrates tend to die off or go into hiding around November when the water temperature goes into steady decline, they will wait until the water temperature begins to steadily increase again before emerging to feed and breed around March. The invertebrates provide the bulk of a fishes diet so when their numbers go into decline fish tend to go dormant as well in order to conserve energy and help last out the winter, because the fish are also cold blooded their metabolic rates slow down massively meaning they need less fuel to keep the motor ticking over. This said, if winter temperatures remain relatively high and a lake is regularly fed by anglers with easily digestible food then the fish can remain highly active throughout the winter, tends to happen in highly stocked match lakes more than low density specimen waters but the fish won't physically be able to process as much food so significant winter growth is unlikely. Hope this help answer your earlier pondering, good angling as always and all the best
