You are causing me to go broke Tony. I've done most of the upgrades except for the seat and master cylinder. Bike looking good. Waiting for Scrambler headlight screen to arrive. Love my Street Twin. Just fitted a set of these Fox shocks to my 2021 ST which had the TEC shocks fitted. I found a lot of loctite had been used with the TEC shocks which i cleared using one of the old bolts plus nail varnish remover 😂 (i didn't have the right tap to do it). I found the same improvements as you, bike is now just much smoother over the rough stuff, really excellent product and far better looking now 👌

I'm a mountain biker & have Fox air front & back they are outstanding never cheap but very plush, great to see them on a Triumph.

Yep 'buy cheap buy twice' as they say. These were fit and forget

i just bought this discounted for my t120. the feeling as you said is instant, it's so smooth over rough surfaces and going round the bend feels incredible. it's a different bike already! i considered one because the terrain of my country is quite terrible, almost offroad ish. this suspension was definitely a must need. i think it also helps that its adjustable on the fly because i have a pillion with me on certain days.

Fitted the Scrambler/T120 one to my customized Street Twin rather than this one. It’s about 20mm longer, and increases the height of the rear a little and changes trail on the front which is what I was looking for in the first place. Bike looks awesome. Rear rides like a dream as expected, and the bike is slightly more responsive and sportier up front in curves.

Bought and installed a pair of these. Just be aware that you can easily break the screws with a 28nm torque. I mounted mine with just 25nm since I broke one the first time I screwed them and it was very hard to take it out again…

Hi! Great analysis! Glad to have found this channel. So, in Brazil, where I am now, rear fox shocks for my street scrambler (2020) will cost me R$ 7800 (equivalent to £1250) - fitted. But the girls suffer, the pillion is already shit, and the fox shocks may help , if you know what I mean

I used a set of Hagen 2810 rears. Preload and rebound adjustment and they are almost identical to the stock item £200 ish well pleased with the result

Had some bad experience with Hagons that corroded after a year of riding. While the bike was always parked in a dry environment.

Great idea, been meaning to upgrade my Street Scrambler. Do you think that replacing the rear shocks is something that a motorcycle layman can safely do? I've done quite alot of tinkering with bicycles, but never on the motorcycle. And: don't you think it wise to use a torque wrench on fitting the screws?

I agree with your comment about suspension. having ridden plenty of Bikes with no or minimal adjustment its a revelation when one rides a bike with fully adjustable systems that can be honed for the weight and riding style.. six hundred pounds is money well spent in my opinion..

Thanks Brian, yep its a very important part of the motorcycle, it the part (aside from the tyres) that keeps in in contact with the road in a controlled manner. That why I will never understand the people that put £100 shocks on and refer to them as an upgrade! These are well built and serviceable, and in my eyes a very worthwhile investment.

Hi Tony, did you get a C spanner or allen key in the box with your shocks?? Nice vid btw.

BEFORE YOU BUY THESE: the factory default setting for the preload is zero clicks, and this is the recommended setting. You can only ADD more preload. What does this mean for lighter people below 70kg: the shocks make your bike hard as a rock, and there is no way to fix this! We just came back from the dealer, i had these installed for her birthday. The idea was to make the bike more comfortable for her since she has back issues, and now the bike is ruined for her. So i will have to return these to the dealer or sell them ... Huge bummer of course ...

This true you can only add preload from the standard setting. For lighter riders this could mean the shocks feel too hard. The only option then is a lighter rated spring. This can be sorted quite easily, but of course is more work and expense. I don't know if they show a weight rating on them? I'm around 95KG so never encountered the problem. Having said that I don't think the spring rate is too much different to stock? but they are much better damped

@@mancavemoto the configurable preload range does not match the stock shocks at all. The stoch shocks, while low quality, can be set very soft. Much softer than the minimum value of the fox shocks. We are exchanging them for yss shocks with a spring selected for her weight

Which setting on the fox shocks are equivalent to the standard shocks setting- at the same setting will these be better than the standard shocks.

Hi - loved the vid, thanks! I have the shocks on my T120…I ride almost exclusively with a passenger and so want to adjust the preload. Do you know what the range of adjustment is (how many turns)? I know zero is the base setting but not sure how many turns for a passenger. Thanks!

Put 10k miles on them on my Street Cup, and the right rear shock is needing a rebuild already because the little valve or port where they inject the nitrogen, is leaking. Some oil coming out and that means most of the nitrogen is already gone. Considering getting it fixed and then waiting for the other one to wear out, or, just replacing them with a set of Hagons...

Any shocks out there for a Harley road glide special year 2016?

so are my bonneville shocks oem ,, does that mean that they are better than hagon , tec,bitubo shocks ?? we dont all have 650 for shockw , I can find with 200 for a better than oem shocks

Great review. Shame they don't come with rebound adjustment too.....Are you planning on adjusting the front too? Ohlins have just released the Nix 22 replacement for the Street Twin

David Mansfield Thanks, Yep would have been a bonus, but a separate rebound adjuster isn't really missed. Most likely, as the front can get a little 'shown up' at times now!

Love your videos, the are very informative. I have a quick question for you. I just put these shocks on my 2018 T120. The preload, with the pinch bolt loosed, feels extremely hard to adjust. It only seems to be resistant on one side. The other moves pretty easily. Was the preload difficult to adjust on your bike?

Thanks Hugo, they are Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tyres. you can see my review of them here kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6Vhs8NpibSek9I.html and I don't know off the top of my head the size of the T120 tyres, but you should be able to find the scorpion trails to fit.

Was there a specific torque you tightened the rear suspension bolt to? I checked the owners manual for my T120 and it didn't list one.

As far as I know they're supposed to be tightened to 28Nm, with blue loctite.

You could, but you'd need to do something with the front too. Just changing the rear shocks by that much would really throw the geometry out big time

Hi Sajib, you can't adjust the overall length of the shocks. You would need to find a shorter set to swap to, then drop your front forks to match

What suspension upgrade would you suggest for two-up riding on the Street Twin? It tends to bottom out on bad speed breakers, scraping almost everything.

Hi Arijit, well obviously I think these shocks are ideal. The fact that they are adjustable means and easy change between riding solo and riding two up. They offer much better damping than the stock units.

I just got my set but it seems I might have made some assumptions on my model/compatibility. I have an ‘06 Bonneville and when I put the shocks on I noticed there is a small gap between the shocks mount and the shock. Should I just get a shop with a lathe to put together a spacer to make up for the gap?

Yep these are not for the the aircooled versions, a spacer would work, or a few washers if the gap isn’t too big

Hi Tony, great video! I have the Ohlins on my street twin. And they're 8 mm shorter than the Ohlins for a T120. Do you think I could swap the ST Ohlins to the T120? Is it only that the T120 will ride 8mm lower?

If you mounting posts are the same diameter you could switch them, but you’d probably want to drop the front end to match

I may have bit of more than I can chew. I’m not an experienced shop mechanic and just do the occasional tinker or install. Motone panniers is probably the most complicated thing I’ve done. Can I make this install happen on my own? Think I’ve got the tools. Also more importantly, is replacing rear shocks without changing front fork springs acceptable or should that always be done together?

Yes, its an easy job to do. As your not changing the ride height, then the front will be fine. The damping and control of the fox shocks is better but the overall action is not that different to stock. These shocks were designed specifically for this bike

Hey Tony, quick question; when riding a motorcycle with leather boots what's the best thing to do to prevent them from being damaged by the shifter?

+TheOtherUs There are a couple of nifty devices available. Acme make a little leather tab that attaches to your bottom bootlace and sits on top of your shifting foot. I think Rev'it also do an elasticated version that goes around your foot. The shifter on my bike is black runner and discolours my boot, do I'm going to try a metal one....

A friend of mine uses a metal shifter on his bike and it damaged his shoes terribly after only one ride. So I think buying one of those leather tabs isn't such a bad idea, thanks!

As far as i'm aware the pins on the frame are a different diameter to the watercooled models?

Ideally both, but that depends on your weight mostly. I found the preload was fine for me and I just dialled in the damping to suit my riding

Hi, thank you for this lovely video. I am planning to go for street twin (my first SBK), I own a 2005 Royal Enfield Thunderbird. With a pillion and roads in India the pot holes and scary bumps, with the stock silencer there is a lot more scraping. Will the Fox RSU help increase the GC of the bike or the travel length? I understand that it might not be able to handle all bumps but i believe it should be better than the stock on these cases as well right? Also is there an option for front shocks as well?

Hi, these are the same length as stock, so no increased height or travel. The ones for the Street Scrambler are slightly longer and will still fit the street twin, but you'd also really need to raise the front by the same amount

Question: I'm thinking about getting a Street Scrambler, only point is: I want to be able to handle a bit of off-road action (not too intense like ADV's do). So I want some shocks that are very good on a lot of bumps, rocks and gravel roads. I was wondering if these are the best there are or if you have any other shocks that might be better for that? Thanks in advance!

I can highly recommend these shocks, however I haven't really tried them off road. The fact that you can dial them in means they can easily be adjusted on the fly depending on conditions. They are well built so I think they will be tough enough.

Hello Tony, I have a 2017 Street Twin and planning to buy these shocks. I have installed the front fork risers. I am thinking of buying the A9640208 (Street Cup) ones though to raise the rear a bit. The difference in the lengths is around 19mm. Will it affect the handling or cornering of the bike in anyway because of the longer shocks? Also, will the longer shocks put pressure on the chassis? Please share your feedback. Thanks

You’ll only notice a difference in the handling of the difference between the front and rear is significant. This change in itself will not put any more stress on the frame

@@reachshishir It wouldnt be dangerous, but if you raise the back and eave the front as is, you will be effectively steepening the head angle, which will make it turn faster. It wouldn't be a massive difference though

Hi Tony. I am going to buy the t100 soon. I have an offer of buying accessories for about 2,000$ free with the bike. I plan to get this and kit them out on the bike. How good are they? The roads here are not the smoothest in the world. Will it help me get a better ride out of the bike? The stock one is KYB twin shocks with adjustable preload, 120 mm rear wheel travel. Worth the upgrade?

Hello, could I fit the model (A9640208 - Street Cup, Street Scrambler, T100 and T120) to my Street Twin 2019? It is 9mm longer than my factory original. Will it fit? Would it be a problem in driving characteristics? Thank you very much.

A9640207 and A9640208. 1) Can A9640208 be used for ST 2018? 2) What is the difference between these 2? 3) A9640207 not available with Triumph. ST accessories page shows A9640208 currently 4) Will this upgrade improve ground clearance for ST?

Hi Lloyd, thanks. Yes there Is a version for the Street Twin and another for the Street Scrambler (which are slightly longer). You can fit the longer version to your Street Twin and it will of course raise the back a little. But don’t forgot this will steepen the head angle and change the handling (although not drastically). The reason Triumph show each part specifically for a specific bike is down to homologation rules.

@@mancavemoto Will upgrading the RSU with A9640207 improve the ground clearance? I am in a country where there are speed breakers every where in the city. Solo riding is somewhat fine but with spouse it is making difficult as I need stop and slowly pass the speed breaker. I already have a sump plate fixed which makes my ride through city more difficult. Where can I get this RSU in US or in UK (online)?

If you think 650£ is expensive for two Fox shocks you’ll have a heart attack if you see how much it costs the high end Fox shocks and forks for mountain bikes, especially Downhill. 😅

Yeah I’ve seen some of that stuff I had to replace the rear shock in a Santa Cruz I had a few years ago, ouch! I personally don’t think they are expensive. Great shocks at a great price

anyone know if these would these fit on a 2019 speed twin?

Hi mate just installed my new shocks. Triumph forgot to include a users manual with the parts. Any idea apart from going back to my dealer where I might find one or a pdf file.? Cheers Tee

Sadly not, they foul on the gas cannisters

will these fit a 2013 thruxton 900? is there a specific part number?

They won’t, and the part number is in the description

Hi Tony - they do look the business these shocks. Do you know if they would be OK for the previous 865 air-cooled T100? They would aesthetically perfect for my 865 AC T100 Black. Subscribed - great channel!

Length will be OK 340mm - 13.5". Dunno about the lug diameters though.

Be careful with the aluminum valve caps. I put those on my LR4 (discovery) and the dissimilar metals caused them to fuse together. Went back to plastic.

Yep that can be a problem, but these are matched OEM caps from the factory.

Does anyone know if these will fit the efi era Bonnevilles? (2008-2015) I understand height may be slightly different, but do they fit on the mounts? Thanks so much

Sadly no, the eyelets on the mounts are a different diameter

Sadly not, the piggyback reservoirs foul on the legend gear pannier frames :(

@@mancavemoto Thank you for your help. In your opinion if you had to choose one or the other( even though its apple to oranges ) which would you go with. By the way when it comes to the shocks I am a 160lb rider. Thank you again.

I've bought a new Street Twin, and purchased the Fox shockers. I'm now struggling to get insurance, as they are classed as a 'performance modification'. Do you have any suggestions of specialist who will cover me, or do I, 'ahm', not tell them? I'm not high risk, riding 20 years, with full no claims, and still no luck. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Really? i'm suprised, my insurance included them as one of five standard mods allowed. Have a chat to the guys at Devitt Insurance....

Thanks for the prompt response. I don’t know whether they have changed there policy, as Devitt was one of the companies I contacted for a quote. They stated suspension changes are a ‘performance modification’ which they would need to refer to the underwriter. When they phoned back they apologised and stated they would not be able to cover the bike, due to the astronomical price (their words). Despite asking, the guy from Devitt’s would not tell me the price from the underwriter, stating his line manager has specifically told him not to divulge the price! I have eventually got cover from Bikesure. In the end only Bikesure and Bennett’s would cover the bike. Hopefully I’ll have better luck next year, and I will try Devitt’s again, as their guy seemed genuinely gutted that they couldn’t insure for a reasonable price. Safe riding.

Do you know if this would fit on a speed twin?

I don't unfortunately, but it should be easy to check

You could probably re-valve the standard shock, add the best oil and save a ton of money.

Well Pedro, we know how important it is to keep our wives happy, so I think its worth it! In reality I don't think these are an expensive option given their performance. They will certainly make a difference.

Hi, no these are the same length as stock. You can fit the ones for the street scrambler which are a little bit longer

+Zainal Arifin Harahap I've not tried the Ohlins on a Street Twin, but I have ridden the Thruxton R with some on. Hard to compare as they are different bikes, but the Fox shocks certainly gave a big difference on the ST and it would be hard to tell the difference in ride quality? Depending on the particular Ohlins shocks you may get more adjustability.

Can you adjust the height of this suspension?

Juan Altura sadly not, well other than dialling in all the preload! But there is a version for the Street Scrambler which is slightly longer

I have a T120 truimph bonnevvel 2018 And I am 6.3 foot tall, I want to rise my motorcycle, what shock you recommend please?

if the mounting posts are the same diameter the Fox Street Scrambler would add a little bit of height. But of course just raising the rear shock would steepen the head angle and make the bike steer a little quicker.
