My neighbor rented a smaller version, to work on his own property, on a slightly smaller area. Wound up calling the rental company. They brought out a second unit, to retrieve the first unit. Then busted a hydraulic line, requiring replacement, plus replacing the fluid too. Then the cleanup of both units, round trip hauling fees; not sure how much his final bill came too? He made the mistake of not making any mats before getting wet and muddy. Thank you for the video. Great tutorial! .

Thinking about the hole. If it isn't a planned hole, what do you think about using the "mud" to fill it, with the aid of a vibrator like is used when pouring concrete foundations? The solids settle and the water jumps to the top. Not sure, but the mud might need mixing with something -- every MODU that I've been on, had it's own mud engineer (sometimes multiple ones); they've always seemed pretty nice to me, so you could ask. It's been so long since I worked offshore, I can't recall what all we mixed with our mud. I had thoughts on speeding along the mud removal when you were making the initial descent; as the vid progressed, I came to appreciate it happened to be a lot more mud than I'd initially thought. LOL -- @37:00, you're doing what I was going to suggest!

With a hundred plus thousand dollars on the line your memory becomes crystal clear in situations like this
Chris you are one hell of an operator. A little bit crazy... I spent all my life avoiding sink-mud holes. You have mad skills man.
Chris you are a master at what you do so keep up the good work. You should do a video on all the machines you have in the business. Thanks for the amazing footage.
That Volvo effortlessly moves about digging and and dumping! The power plant runs so sweet!
Something satisfying about watching the mud self level in the truck..I'm glad I don't gotta deal with liquid dirt
The sink hole is one of two things either a man made silt trap or more likely an erosion feature caused by the culvert when spatting during or after very heavy rain.
36:33 Now there's a good idea. The many times I watched you use the mats it never crossed my mind to use them like that. Nice!
What a lovely video at 35-36 mins. Like a GoPro on the underside of a Cow's tail as it is dropping a fresh pie on the prairie.
When we build ponds its usual to have a larger hole near the in flow as a silt trap , works well if maintained regular and mostly empty
Now that's one awesome job ! Can't wait to see the progress !!!
I watched this on fast speed, simply because I enjoyed the poetry of watching the handling of this machine. The Volvo was an extension of the operator, so graceful.
Amazing what those machines can do! Great to see the decision making process and logistics of moving around in that stuff! I bet most ppl think you just dig out the mud. What happens if you get stuck!?!
These videos are purely therapeutical. Thank you for your top notch entertainment, sir !
You sir, have some mad skills for operating that machinery! After watching this and several other videos of it, I'm hooked... for some reason have always been interested in watching machinery like this do their thing, since i was s kid, and you have given me something more to armchair enjoy 😉... thank you! PS - nice bucket view!
You are very brave with your equipment. NIce to see a professional at work. It is so easy to sink before you even know your in trouble (from personal experience). Once you cover the exhaust, uh oh.
Just in case anyone was wondering. they've been located , and they are large and brass!! well done taking a machine that heavy into that situation. always love your videos thank you for sharing
I really like you being able to get road trucks back to pond. Your a doctor working on a live patient.
Damn that was getting deal ..great vid and operating the escavater very well done have a great evening godbless .
I like watching these videos... You can learn new tricks from people. I like the mat idea pulling the mud back.. quick and easy.
Always been interested in equipment, and the capabilities & limitations too! He far exceeded what I thought, was safe to put that machine into. Well done; especially getting it out of the soup. Great tutorial! .
Awesome real world footage. Good work sir.
I always love the mechanical whirl when I spin the cab around quick. Very machine like lol.
That cheat with the mat seems pretty smart! If I were the ref in this digging game, I would say it is allowed. :)
Again love the videos. I still believe you could put a puzzle together with that Machine. Keep up the good work brother. God Bless
Nice tractor work, enjoyed the bucket view as well.
No mat left behind ! i liked when you put that cam on the bucket so we could see how the mud goes wiggle wiggle wiggle. Great job
your skills in that machine are amazing!!! keep up the good fight. great channel!!

We're going to need a bigger Bovine! You thought i was going to Type "Boat", as opposed, to "Bovine", unless, you did not, then, you are no fun and i will throw a Cowpie, in your general direction.

you amaze me sir. thanks for the great content. love your channel.
I love in Alaska, and operated for a few years, its like zen time. Great videos.
Thanks for taking us along Chris! This one looks like it’s not for beginners eh
Great video. Loved every minute of it!!!!!
As a fellow excavator operator in New Zealand I never stop learning and have stumbled across your videos, always good to pick up tips n tricks from someone like your self. Cheers
I don’t give out to many complements!!! But I’ll say you are one hell of an operator. Probably one of the best I’ve ever seen . Read the land and know how things are going to react . Water , mud etc . Thanks for the great videos. P.S don’t get stuck 😂 CHIPSTER
Awesome job . It’s nice to see a professional work.
Been watching for years now and I think that was deeper than you've ever gone.

Using the big board to pull the mud back, that ain't cheating lol, thats bloody smart! :) You sir are so smooth what that excavator, I haven't seen work like that since my dad. :) Very nice :)
Wild watching the 250 bob and weave like it's on a barge as you crawl over the mats.
Great video Chris. Thanks
Wow, Chris, that was like shoveling sand against the tide with all that mud.
You're a damn genius! Well done.
Bless you heart! You have to clean up other people's mess. Great job! I love your show! 😊❤
In Frisian language we call that thick, wet soil: Blubber. It isn't hard to see why at 33 minutes in! Awesome footage, hooked!
And again you are an amazing operator. Man great job
The view from the bucket into the dump truck bed...disgusting, but totally cool! Love these videos.
Thanks for the ride on the bucket! That was fun
You do some amazing work and really good at running that excavator. More i watch you makes me want to go buy one and start my own business... I have run equipment my entire life but something about watching you just amazes me lol
That was pretty deep. Good stuff man
Looks like good soil once spread and dried out. Have the perfect field for it
Excellent job I just finished watched like eight videos, you sir have a great talent keep up the great content
Great job swampy!👍💛😉
That bucket view cam is pretty slick. Cool watching liquefaction in action. How some earthquakes are made worse because ground water rises and does that
Mud you were Loading in Dump Truck is the type of Mud we weren’t allowed to Play in Growing up.
Where's Timmy??? I never see him on as many videos as I use to. I'm thinking he's with your Uncle on different projects. Keep up the great work!!! It's always great watching you operate.

What’s his handle?
I actually love this emptying out the hole, feels so satisfying. I'm not a rushy type I wouldn't force forward and I really don't like mud so I'd be taking it out from the beginning, wonder if that's more efficient or not tho, efficiency might screw me there, but oh well.
Thanks for the great Video.
Good work chris, well if they got the money, then job security takes care of itself, gonna look good though, thanks for sharing as always, another masterpiece of a video, these longer videos are pretty damn nice to watch a master at work.
Brilliant videos, I get home from working on my machine and watch your videos! 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻
A long reach would definitely come in handy here. I was biting my fingernails every time you entered that sinkhole.

Swamp Master. Just love watching you work in the swamps.
I like to see Quality work sir thank you for that in your videos.
I thought you lost it, there! The first video of yours I watched was you digging out that rental unit that was up to its armpits. I guess staying out of trouble is better than getting out of trouble.
It doesn’t matter what job you do you always do an awesome job.👏🏼👏🏼👍🇨🇦🇺🇸
What type of sites accommodate pond material. Is it of any use for fill or growing anything? How far do you need to truck it? Thanks
what a machine 1 of the best ive seen so far man fantastic job .....again
Nice squeegee work. That probably saved an hours worth of work moving that slop-slop-slop--oh and a tire! Nice job!
I love the bucket cam!!
One of the best channels on you tube!
Great comment on using a cement pump. Probably would work good. But, nothing beats the volvo!!! That video makes you motion sick!
Using the mat was brilliant. Also, loved the bucket cam
I subscribed because of the shot where the camera is connected to the arm and you look into the bed of the truck being loaded!
Always keep the Fuel Tank Full. Rest is all up to the machine. Fail to plan, is a plan to fail. Great operation.
Love the 'Bucket cam' bit of porridge shovelling, what a sloppy muck shift that is
'Leave a smooth finish'....at the bottom of the pond - true professional
All I can say is "Holy freak batman!" you definitely earned your keep today my man. guts, you definitely have. (thanks for sharing. awesome video)
great stuff. Subbed who came up with the thumb, it makes these machines amazing
As I watched you ease out into the sink hole, the Beatles song Yellow Submarine came to mind! LOL
I really thought this video may have turned into a recovery of your own equipment stuck in a sinkhole. 😂😂 Pretty remarkable how good you are.
Love the thumb shot!!
I have gone down a rabbit hole that I can not get out of, why cant I stop watching this!!! Ahhhhh :)
