Great to be able to ride along on the dozer and the excavator, as well as sit off at a distance to watch them at work. Thanks for your time to set us up so that we can watch you at work. Very enjoyable. Appreciate the lack of drama that turns me off on so many good potential video channels. They go along just great, and then apparently feel they need to doctor up the video for something different. Yours are steady and great. Thank you for that.

LOL, yup had to leave a rather interesting boat building contributor’s subscription years ago because the drama was too much to take. Have a feeling many of us may watch KZread to escape drama. Drama non-grata. Just watch soap operas if that’s what you need. Really like the on-site views which pull together the methods to the operation requirements at hand. Would be cool if there was split screen of operator view and site view to help connect the methods to the results. Thanks, letsdig18, for keeping it real!

Back in my college years I worked summers at ESCO Corp. in Portland Oregon to help pay my way through school. All one summer I worked as a grinder in an area they called the Cleaning Room where we removed the risers from the castings via 8 to 16 pound sledge hammers, depending upon the size of the point or adapter. We also did the rough grinding of the casting and finally the finish grinding in which we ground the points to properly fit the adapter. You referred to them as teeth, in the industry they were called points. The adapter is the portion welded to the bucket lip. The completed buckets were also fabricated at the same plant facility. A major part of ESCO's business at that time was the wear parts for earth moving equipment of all kinds. Drag line buckets of up to 105 cubic yards were being produced at the Portland sight and at their Danville Illinois plant. Nick, North West Farmer

How fitting for the new Ecko bucket teeth to be painted Forest Green. I swear in these videos I can almost hear you smiling as you run your dozer. This takes me back more than 40 years when I worked for a contractor clearing building sites. I haven't since experienced anything more satisfying than tearing through a grove of brush on a Cat.

Was thinking similar thoughts the right tree coming into the cab area could impale the operator very easy doing a clearing like that w the machine . Sure it's happened to someone.

It’s very dangerous for sure, the thing that happened in a split second isn’t a tree coming into the cab and impaling you, it’s pushing a pile and having a trunk or branch snap and it whips a couple foot long piece at you like a bullet, happens just like that and your lucky if your dead or your chewing on crayons.

Dozer operators have to have their head on a swivel or end up with a black eye or worse. Constant attention is required and the body is bone tired when done the days work. Years of experience is evident when watching Chris work the different machines. Don a new hat for each piece of equipment. Get distracted and maybe get hurt. Love watching our boy fulfill folks dreams. He has made my cancer battles easier to endure these last few years. Hope I get to hang around and see many more projects.

Well, I'd guess you're darned lucky you were replacing excavator teeth. If you had to do that with your own teeth you'd have to remortgage your house! Every time you wrapped a tree around a standing one I became fully alert as I've had a tree explode and hit the bridge of my hard hat but slid off that and punched through my face just below my left eye and came out my mouth. Oh well.

How to Burn Soil? The simple answer is not easy, but yes, soil can burn if the temperature exceeds 280C, exothermic reactions (those reactions that produce heat). When soil surface temperature reaches 500 to 600C, glowing combustion occurs if oxygen is not excluded from the char surface.

And it did not take me long to learn about all of the spears and whips that came at me. You are lucky that the area was already stumped. To put some of my earlier comments about clearing land I realize things are very different now, . When we started none of the Cats had hydraulic systems. Our dozer ran on cables from the rear mounted winch. New operators would frequent ‘snap’ the cables by not releasing the dozer lift soon enough. That would shut us down for about 4+ hours . Handling cables at minus 40F was never fun. If we broke down a parachute was put over the dozer so we could work under it. The Cat ran 24/7 since if they were shut off we could only start them when the weather warmed. With milder temperatures we could pour gasoline in the crank Cade to thin the oil. After it started the x gasoline would evaporate out of the oil. Smaller diesels were started on gasoline and the switched to diesel after they were warmed up. Times have surely changed.😊😊😊
