Agree aswell. What he has done for the UK in the world of martial arts becoming world champ from prison and working a day to day job. And there wasn't money back then in the sport. Geting to the UFC is one thing but to win a world title, brilliant. I started watching it around when he was on the ultimate fighter then followed him. Plus he got where he got obviously because of his self discipline and unbelievable work ethic but as he said his wife was there from day 1 and sacrificed everything as well as he did to. Great talker to love listening to him.

Bisping is a legend with an inspiring fighting heart. True what he says about MMA too, it looks brutal on the surface, but ultimately the fighters are acquiring less brain damage due to the grappling side of the sport and smaller gloves. A multitude of different styles makes for a more unpredictable and therefore more exciting fight.

Simon doesn't have a clue on this one, proper shame he can't appreciate the level of depth that goes into getting a BJJ black belt for example. Literally 12 years of training to get that. These fighters need to be competent and know so much to compete in the octagon. Old british guys have no understanding and think its a street fight. Younger crowd and especially in my city Liverpool people love it and get it.

I can't stand Simon but he made his point, which I partly agree with, and then Bisping made his. Called Simon a casual who hasn't really looked into the sport and Simon didn't argue. Doesn’t change anything, there’s an insurgence of new mma fans, mostly brits that ride his coat tails like crazy, and they haven’t even watched a fight of his! The dude literally ducked rob and yoel whom were number 1 and 2 contenders to fight against 14th ranked , 46 yo dan henderson, who was coming off a record of 3-6 and still got offered the decision, as he didn’t win that! More so, after that one he again ducked both of them to fight against gsp, a 5 yo retired welterweight that choked him to sleep! Pathetic! He ducked yoel saying he’s a steroid abuser then he went to fight against Hendo, which is the king of steroid abusers, that’s what his d’riders don’t know because at the tine he was a champion it was really really hard go find a guy that loved him, he was more hated than gdr and nicco montano, and that says alot

As a Leeds lad myself I'n similar, the first MMA even I went to was Bisping v Mark Epstein at Cage Rage 7 for the LHW title and Epstein back then looked like one of the most evil people you could meet but Mick this kid in his 3rd fight KO'd him in the 2nd or something, Just an added fact Epstein was one of Lee Murray's best mates, Then went to watch the rematch which was a little more competitive which had Bisping defending against him for the title 2 fights later and KO'd him again. You could see back then this kid was going places. Pity he had to win every title in Britain before he went on that show, Dan Hardy was a multiple titleholder around the same time as well at Cage warriors. Nowadays, you win a Cage Warriors title, and you're signed up. Good old days those, at Cage Rage and Cage Warriors, I still go to warriors still to this day, you get to see some great up-and-coming talent. Obviously, it's only seems a few months since I was watching fatty Pimblett, i never really was a fan tbh, but he sure had a following, Christian Leroy Duncan is the next big thing to come out of England, the guy is incredible, fights at MW he's a big dude with awesome stand up,

I wish i was as tough and durable, as this guy. He really does deserve ultra admiration. Not only is there a lot of evidence that he was not taking drugs in the era of the drug takers, or that he fought when his eye was deteriorating or maybe even completely blinded throughout, but also the fact that he is not a power puncher and therefore, knew he had to win a war of attrition and was going to take a lot of damage each time He must have a complex relationship, with paiin. I still can't watch the part were Anderson Silva, "flying" knees him directly in the nose. I think i would have died of shock, if that happened to me; I've been punched in the nose a couple of times at school and once outside since, but the power of that knee - I definitely I wouldn't be able to cope with that, and come back 5 minutes later to win the fight. awesome man!

Not obviously any of those things. The idea pushed by MMA fans that is more technical is completely without any weight. You have to learn a wider array or skills for MMA but as for the competition aspect Boxing is more refined therefore making it more technical. I'd say MMA is harder to train for but Boxing is harder to compete in. If someone is beating you to the jab in MMA you can shoot for a takedown or engage in the clinch etc. In boxing you have a lot less at your disposal to swing the fight in your favour.

@@OuchPleaseNoooo yeah have to say more technical in your average boxing fight. Two well rounded mma fighters is a very technical fight though. Plus definitely more exiting

  • @Dekartz

@@OuchPleaseNoooo Another way to look at it though is the fighter working behind his jab and footwork has to defend against less, he doesn't have to also worry about defending the takedown and working out of grapples and avoiding/checking leg-kicks. There are fewer ranges where he's actually in danger because his opponent has less of a toolbox to deal with his strategy than in an MMA bout. Having fewer things to worry about seems less technical rather than moreso.
