I actually think Keown did well there. Had Simon on the ropes. Simon bangs on about Elite managers will make the difference. Luis Enrique? Semi final and a last 16 exit. Conte with Italy? Quarter Finals. It's not like we're being blown away in these 50/50 knockout matches. A more 'proactive' manager could have us 2-0 down in 30 mins. Southgate isn't perfect, got it wrong with the subs against France, but produced a performance where we had better XG expected goals, reduced them to few opportunities and touches for Mbappe in the box. Were ahead on most things, not to mention one of the top sides in the tournament for goals scored and conceded. Just got stung by elements outside of his control.

I hear bullshit in media saying ' the players have told Gareth that they back him'. I dont think they'd risk not being in the next Euro team if they told him he was shite and the FA kept him on.

The England manager job is not a training exercise. Staying with Gareth is just like Belgium wasting their golden generation with a sub standard manager or how spurs have wasted the best years of Kane, Lloris and Eriksen and not built a team round them when they were on an upward trajectory. Keep Southgate and you’re wasting this current crop of players

Nice guys win SFA, players and managers who win regularly are absolutely ruthless. Southgate isnt made in that mould.

There is zero improvement

As an England supporter for over 40 years I’ve heard and seen every excuse going as to why we haven’t won a tournament , we’ve had world class players world class managers and still won nothing..if it were up to me I’d keep Southgate for the next tournament but in that time get someone else in place for 2026..but I don’t think it will make a difference on who you get ..we are not good enough!🤷‍♂️

As an England fan as soon as France made it to the quarters I knew we were doomed. I just hoped we wud play well and to be fair we did. But the point stands we always lose to the top teams in knockout stages of tournaments France had no kante no pogba and no benzema and they still found a way that's the mentality we lack.

pointing out they were missing a few doesn't mean they would have done aswell as they have with them. France too many fantastic players to call on when there are injuries to the superstars. You say you knew we were doomed as if we lost 5-0. Come on it was 2-1 to France. Could just as easily on another day been other way round

@@marksmarsh2039 we went 1-0 up against Croatia and lost we went 1-0 up against Italy and lost. France were there for the taking in that 2nd half and we lost so three times it cud av gone the other way.

To win the EUROs we'll probably have to beat France. Does anyone seriously think we can beat the French playing like Southgate makes that team play? We came close only because of the 2 penalties, not 1 goal from open play, two chances from open play were ok, but got wasted. Lets say we put 1 of those 2 in, French go on a counter attack and score the winner, because we cant stop Mbappe, Giroud and Dembele. We can stop 1 or two of them, but not all 3. So thats checkmate.

Why ? He will be the same as Southgate. When it comes down to it , Rogers won't make the right decicions.

A penalty kick is the greatest chance to score a goal in the game of Futbol. When you are paid millions, and all you do is train for a living, penalty kicks should be automatic. Yes, pressure is huge. But it's the years and decades of training that should destroy that feeling of pressure. The best in the world have had penalties saved, but, RARELY, do they sky them to the heavens.

I love how Martin points out a couple tactical errors in Southgate’s setup, but throughout the video he’s defending Southgate as a manager.
