    That is laconian style sword and the word "laconic" is derived from Laconia, the region of Greece where Sparta once was and from where this sword originates. Hope you guys will enjoy my effort. Thanks for watching.

    Looks really nice. Here is a tip, try to make the handle oval. I know circular is easier since you can use a wood lathe but when cutting it’s harder to use. If your just going for an aesthetic sword, ignore what I just said, people won’t care and the sword looks really nice

    Great looking sword. That said, you could have saved yourself the grinding work by using 1. A smaller piece of steel, (IE: half of the link). 2. Forging.out the billet to the length and thickness you needed. By doing this you relieve the stresses and make the sword stronger.

    This was awesome I just don’t know why you don’t work off the same chain instead of cutting a different one keep making knives and swords from the same rusted chain until there’s no chains left that way they’ll all be recycled into knew stuff lol

    Different blades different metals. A good example would be using spring steel for a filet knife vs using tool steel for a hammer

    After u put the knife out from the fire ito a liqued what is it? Is it oil? I remember water isn't good because itl explode from the high temp. and oil catch fire

    Forewarning so excuse my ignorance, but what is flaking off when you hammer down on the molten steel? Does the heat make the weaker steel separate off? Or does the heat make something else come forward that is then flaking off the metal? Again I’m sry I’m new to this and fascinated and curious.

    Impressive work. Just a note though,, Laconian swords were much smaller than the average Greek xifos (it's pronounced ksefos not zefos...). This size is typical for a standard Greek sword, too big for a Spartan one.

    @@sarantissporidis391 they may not have been true Greeks but the was a large population of them in the Greek archipelago and they brought a good measure of their culture with them. I imagine seeing an Akkadian in lykonia was a lot like seeing a Macedonian in Egypt at one time. Just a normal occurrence
