100% hand hammered. That's a feat nowadays! I'm not saying it's easier with multi-ton presses and power hammers... What am I saying?!? Yes it's definitely easier with power hammers! Good job!👍
That's a beauty, and I do believe that the blade is more than functional. Were I in need of a good sword, I'd want something that was made THAT well.

Truly a 4 body blade right there.

Why would anyone even give this video a downvote?
@tomahawk014
2 жыл бұрын
Didn't downvote, but this is not even close to katana standards, I'm sure that blade gets dull very fast and the handle is very low quality... It's nice that he got this done with stuff in his backyard, but I wouldn't even call this a katana. They are done with specific ratios of steel and iron, and the blades are folded in the process, which hasn't happened here.
@ignasmaciulis1095
2 жыл бұрын
His effort and the *extremely* shiny object produced appeals to people who have little idea about swords and blacksmithing, but the more knowledgeable folks probably don't find this video pretty or impressive at all. I won't go into great detail for now, but the main reasons are these: 1) Some of his techniques are fairly cringeworthy (no, this is due to lack of skill and knowledge, not lack of tooling) 2) Some aspects of the sword simply show lack of quality and 'lazy' craftsmanship 3) Due to many minor and not-so-minor details, this looks nothing like a traditionally made katana or a good modern reproduction.
@jameshowlett414
2 жыл бұрын
@@tomahawk014 Yeah I get what you're saying, nothing traditional about it, but it's cool in its own right. I admire the traditional quenching of a katana, and only someone hardcore would attempt a water quench.
